1. Got a pic of the TAFM?
2. PMs should work just fine on an iPad? Works on Android at least.
3. Rather than splash the entire amount on an American Standard, I would get a used Classic 50s wearing flats, and a Squier Matt Freeman wearing rounds! In fact I plan on selling mine to do just this!

Any dings at all, and do you still have the original pickup and bridge?
5. I used those two together for a while too (although the Bad Monkey was a Humphrey modded one for better bass response). I switched the BM out for an Xotic Bass BB in the end though. Either way, the VT does love a boost or overdrive in front of it!
6. Yeah, I use my Team Awesome Fuzz Machine set to ow gain in that manner too. The VT does not have the mid-scoop of the BDDI though - I measured it myself and by tweaking the knobs was able to get an almost flat EQ apart from the speaker sim roll off.
7. I recommend you try the VT Bass if you haven't already - best thing out there for getting a valve sound out of a solid state amp! The DHA VT-1 tube pedal is also worth a look and I'm a big fan of the Catalinbread SFT also:
8. It's a bit like marmite that one, I'm not a huge fan of the look. It would look much better IMHO with white pickup covers and a vintage tint neck without the blocks!
9. Not sure about the Jazzes, but when it comes to Precisions, the Classic 50s is miles better than the MIM standard, and is also fitted with the same pickup as the American Standard, whereas the pickup is the weakest link in the MIM.
10. Used to use Dunlop nickel 45-130 assuming that fatter strings would be the way to go but am a recent convert to 40-125 - they are growlier and easier to play!
11. Perfect, thanks! Here's a direct link to the P-Bass designer: https://www.yajimastringworks.com/kisekae/iagree1.asp?p1=PB
12. I did but it doesn't have a wide selection of scratch plates plus just wondered if any others existed!
13. Sandberg has an excellent little configurator to let you see what your custom bass will look like, with a range of finishes, necks, pickguards etc: http://www.configurator.sandberg-guitars.de/ Does anyone know of anything else similar? I'm in the mood for building a bitsa Precision and would like to try out some different combinations!
14. Tree fiddy? That's a great deal! Apparently the 1025 and 2025 use the same pickups but have different part numbers and prices when I contacted Yamaha about getting some for my BB415. I didn't reply to get to the bottom of it as I'm considering just upgrading to a 1025X/2025X to get all the other improvements to the neck/body/bridge. Gonna go to Bass Direct to try some out at some point!
15. I'll give these a good home...
16. Can't believe nobody's mentioned the Korg Pitchclip? Around £8 online, I bought one for use with my Kala U-Bass and it works brilliantly. Not tried it on my electrics or with a low B though since I always have a pedal tuner hooked up there.
17. It would only take £2 of parts and 20 minutes to add a gate also, if they are using the method from rkerkhof.ruhosting.nl/Taas/Mods/Big%20Muff.htm:
Noise gate mod: This mod will quieten the Muff while not playing, thus a noise gate. To do this, add a 100k trimpot (wired as a variable resistor) parallel to the 100k to ground of the second gain stage (R14). The trimpot can be adjusted to taste to get the max noise gate effect.
18.
It works in tandem with the 'blend' function on this pedal - it let's you roll off highs/mids from your clean sound (leaving chunky bass) and filter any messy lows from the distorted sound, so the idea is that you'll get a better balance of the two - fat clean bottom end with big dirty miffed up mids/high end.
That's the idea, but what happens in practice is: - You end up with less volume hitting the fuzz circuit, resulting in less gain and less distortion. - The mids and highs are very compressed due to the fuzz but the lows are not. The heavier you play, the heavier the bass, which might be undesirable. - When you hit that crossover foot switch, expect a volume drop since you are rolling off highs from the clean portion and lows from the fuzz portion. This was my experience of playing around with the original BBM with an SFX X&M crossover blender. In my experience, this particular fuzz retains plenty of low end by itself. A small amount of clean blend is required to add a bit of definition and dynamics to the sound, but using a crossover did not work out for me. Subtle usage of it though could certainly help situations where you have a high output bright active bass and need to both reduce the clean highs slightly to help the signals mesh together and reduce the bass hitting the fuzz to prevent getting overloaded and mushy. Still, at least this version has a proper blend unlike the original which requires modding to make usable!
19. I've been too busy to play with mine properly but I do know that it's going nowhere! Best filter I've ever played, possibly in the world. All those controls can be daunting at first, but it's very easy to use! I'd rather have the control than go back to a more basic filter any day.
20. Reminds me of the Mighty Boosh band 'Future Sailors'!
21. You'd have trouble playing this without an upright: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwI0gbGEyuI&feature=youtube_gdata_player
22. Also interested in this if it hasn't gone already!
23. Grabbed preset #3 which is a bass wah, mixed in a bit of dry signal, turned up the resonance and set it to envelope mode and got the best envelope filter I've ever played. Being able to adjust the sensitivity, attack and release means you can easily set up the sweet spot for your individual bass and playing style. Menus are quite easy to grasp, will be even easier to tweak I imagine with the software over USB. Also, there's a global envelope sensitivity setting in case you want to switch basses but not have to change the sensitivity of the individual presets. Very glad I got this, the first filter I've tried that hasn't somehow disappointed me!
24. Well, no noise when powering it by itself! Getting some great sounds out of it by blending lowpass, bandpass and dry signals together. So far I prefer it to the Xerograph and any other wah I've had, but it's still the honeymoon phase and I've barely got my fingers in it's knickers yet.
25. Received mine today! Haven't had much time to play with it and really busy over the next week so I won't give much of a review. Just to say that so far it's REALLY well put together, the presets weren't very useable but showed great potential. This could be the filter to rule them all, as long as you're not afraid to get in there and tweak it! I noticed quite a bit of noise using it on my daisy chain with lots of other pedals, I'll try putting it separately later to see if it improves things.
