1. By the way, you can power the Boss 12v ACA pedals at 9v as long as it's daisy chained with another 9v pedal. Haven't gotten my head around why exactly but trust me!
2. Any more info on the origins of the neck and body? Is the body a MIJ Fender?
3. Just imagine that everyone in the audience is naked. And deaf!
4. Dunlop nickels - best rounds I've ever used. I would have chosen TI Flats also but I could only choose one!
5. What new pedals, got a link?
6.
It sounds good with most cabs, but for me, I found it sounded nicest with Ampeg cabs. A real old-school sound, nice and warm, set with a bit of break-up, but not full on gain. Keep thinking about getting another OTB as it happens - was a nice little amp.
I use mine with an Ampeg SVT210AV, although I had to make a little foam stand to get it to sit nicely on top: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/149502-orange-bass-terror/page__view__findpost__p__1658690 Width-wise it's a perfect fit, and with two of these cabs stacked vertically you'd have a loud rig that fires at ear level and takes up bugger all space on tight stages!
7. Don't rule out the Squier Classic Vibe / Vintage Modified / Matt Freeman P basses without trying them either. Great basses, and better than the Mexican Fenders according to some.
8. Are you using it in dry mode? In stock form, dry mode isn't very useable as it produces a large volume boost but this mod can change that: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/112212-bass-big-muff-volume-and-feedback-mods/ I use it in dry mode with the aforementioned mod, but also run a mild mid-boosting overdrive in front of it and have no problems cutting through. I use the Catalinbread SFT for this at the moment, but I've also had good results with a modded Bad Monkey and Xotic BB Preamp. This way you can layer your dirt - clean, mild OD, and OD + Fuzz!
9. You don't even need a fancy drill, I've drilled enclosures just fine with a hand power drill!
10. I've tried loads of filters and wahs but never been 100% happy with one. If I was going to buy another right now though it would be the 3Leaf Wonderlove: http://www.3leafaudi...nvelope-filter/
11. I would hazard a guess that the one that looks more expensive is the expensive one!
12. Sorry, didn't see this as haven't checked the thread in a while! Not looking for any trades at the moment.
13. 'Tis to do wth phase cancellation: http://barefacedbass.com/uploads/BGM61%20Dec2010.pdf
14. Basically the first two Black Sabbath albums! Also if you get the deluxe versions there is a B-side Wicked World that has a brilliant bassline!
15. Bump!
16. The stage might be rather cosy for an 11-piece band though, you can get an idea of the size of it here: http://www.thehificlub.co.uk/gallery
17. Ah, been there many times when I was at uni >10 years ago, great little place.
18. +1 for the Kala U-Bass - Clarky is selling a fretless one on here for a bargain price, I'd nab it if you're at all interested! They sound very DB like, can be amplified, great for travel, and would fit right in with the look - although you would have to carry a small amp as they aren't very loud unplugged.
19. Also it doesn't help that they are still banging out the 2011 models for £899 delivered: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-american-standard-precision-bass-2009-black-maple/19255
20. Jack - have you tried putting just a single AT7 in the V1 position on the right hand side leaving a 12AX7 on the left? I think there‘s a chance this could achieve the same result of taming the gain but give you more overall volume. My theory being that if you also have a lower gain tube just before the power amp you may not be getting the max amount of power from it.
21. Also a good idea to let people know where you are!
22. Definitely says Analog Delay on the front of the pedal. The waveform is probably just a pitch modulation LFO, like on the EHX Memory Boy:
23. As far as I know they aren't starved - they light up like a Christmas tree so there must be some decent voltage going through. Funnily enough my Gold Lion 12AX7s don't glow though. I don't know about a shimmery top end though, that's not what this amp is about.
24.
Maybe the only niggle is that it almost has too much bottom end for my taste.
The EQ is flattest with bass and treble all the way down and mids maxed according to the BassGearMag review. Don't be afraid to turn that bass control down and the mids up!
25. Not seen those before, I suppose that would be a great option as long as you were committed to keeping your iPhone/iPad. The Zoom units do have metering and built in compression/limiting however.
