1. If like me you find you hardly use the G string, you could always string up BEAD using the bottom 4 strings from a 5-string set. That way you won't have to re-learn too much as your E, A and D strings are still there, but now you have some extra low notes to play with.
2. If you don't mind spending a little bit, try the Zoom Q3 or Q3HD. I have the older H2 sound recorder and it has great stereo sound quality that can cope with very loud volumes. http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/q3/
3.
Post up some pics that look a little more genuine, maybe some of the bass in your kitchen, just something that looks like it has not been copied from elsewhere.
I agree with what's been said apart from this - the photos on eBay look fine and having a washing machine in the background will add no value. Plus I prefer that the bass be pictured laying down on a soft carpet than on a hard surface, makes it look like it's been looked after. Alarm bells ring when someone takes their pics outside in the garden resting against some paving slabs for example!
4.
Does anyone use the OBT for Funk/Soul/R&B stuff? The reviews of this amp are always concerning rock/metal, but I wonder how it handles that styles of music. I'm hoping it will blow my mind with an old Precision with the right flats on it!
It's perfect for that sound, you won't be disappointed.
5.
When oh when, will the mods restrict the selling forum to established bcers?
Why? Someone got a bargain bass, and we were all thoroughly entertained!
6. They were very expensive anyway, you'd be far better off getting the LM2 for £275 in the for sale section (which is a very clean flat sounding amp) with a VT Deluxe.
7. They are big and ugly just like the Markbass pedals - at least Markbass has seen the light and produced a smaller range!
8. Press 'edit' then 'use full editor'.
9. You should be able to fit a class D power module into that Meat DI so that you could use it like an Orange Bass Terror for when you can't be bothered to lug it's bigger brother about!
10. Are Chromes OK to string through the body? Most manufacturers recommend against stringing flats through the body because the sharp angles can cause them to break. Being more flexible, TI flats are OK, but I'd double check first.
11. Here you go:
12. Lovely - I've been lusting after the 5-string version of this!
13. Headstock logo looks just like my 2004 American Standard, but it doesn't have the string through body or S1 switch. Don't Highway One's have a 70s logo?
14. I read on Talkbass a report from someone who tried the 2011 and 2012 Precisions side by side that the newer pickups were more vintage/smooth, less modern/agressive. If true, probably same goes for the Jazz.
15. Guillemots? Skip to 1:10...
16. Quarter Pounders are SPB-3 not 1! If it's a 1 you have I'm interested but I'm guessing not.
17. I don't like the bridge pickup by itself but it sounds great in combination with the P. I am in two minds whether to trade up to a 1025X or mod this one. Or do both! If I was to fit new pickups, I wonder if anyone on here would be able to fabricate a new set of chrome pickup surrounds? I don't want to refin or cover it up with a scratchplate. If I did go this route, I could sell you the stock ones, Such!
18. I've got a Badass V ready to fit to mine and right about trying new pickups too. If you're gonna be re-routing and filling in holes, instead of buying another donor bass, you could either buy two matching 5 string P pickups or get a Musicman style humbucker for the bridge. I like the look of the Delano pups mainly because their huge pole pieces look cool! Another option is to get some custom pickups made that for straight in but that wouldn't come cheap.
19. If you get to a shop that has one, check out the Ampeg Micro VR & SVT210AV stack. I'm using one of those cabs with the Terror and it has the classic Ampeg 810 sound whilst being light as a feather and very reasonably priced.
20. Without a doubt you should definitely try the Orange Terror Bass - much more grunt than the Streamliner. Not tried the Walkabout though but never heard a bad word said about them except for the fan noise, which is fixable.
21. That guitar amp has feet on the side?! Not sure I'd want to prop that up on it's end.
22. You just want a simple A/B box like the EHX Switchblade: http://www.hotroxuk.com/electro-harmonix-switchblade-passive-channel-selector.html Do you really need that though? You don't always have to have passive bass into passive input, active bass into active input. If you are trying to even the volumes out when switching between two basses, this is not the best solution unless your amp has separate gain controls for each input.
23. I hear it's rare to find one this old where the headstock hasn't snapped off, so don't be put off by this people! Some more pics of the side of the neck near the repair would be a good idea though.
24. The demo version looks ten times better, and it would look ten times better again without the fancy script font!
25. Nice bass - what happened to the headstock, did it snap off? If so looks like a good repair, can't see any evidence!
