  1. Just discovered these guys too: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DywNEZw-E-4#![/media] Truly epic, gonna have to buy it. I spend too much time on [url="http://stonerobixxx.blogspot.co.uk/"]http://stonerobixxx.blogspot.co.uk[/url]...
  2. One of the few examples of tasteful slap on this Earth.
  3. How could I forget SHRINEBUILDER!!!
  4. Lots of new stuff to check out here! Really looking forward to the Acid King gig in Camden in June - saw them at The Purple Turtle last year and it was the best gig I've ever been too. Pure blissed out fuzz filling the room from cranked Ampegs and Marshalls! [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oy2fG2xzlU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Oy2fG2xzlU[/url]
  5. Tis a good price, I've seen em from £250 to £350 used.
  6. It's pretty simple to mod the BBM if you want more control over the wet/dry balance. I added a master volume control so I can have the regular volume at 2 or 3 o'clock to set the ratio how I want it then back off the overall volume with the new control: [url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/112212-bass-big-muff-volume-and-feedback-mods/"]http://basschat.co.uk/topic/112212-bass-big-muff-volume-and-feedback-mods/[/url]
  7. For Facebookers: The Cult Of Bass Distortion page often has this kinda stuff put up: [url="https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Cult-of-Bass-Distortion/237695669651404"]https://www.facebook...237695669651404[/url]
  8. Many recommend fellow Basschatter OBBM's cables: [url="http://www.rock-wire.uk.com/"]http://www.rock-wire.uk.com/[/url] However, I got some recently from this eBay seller and they are very good also, but Van Damme cable instead of Klotz (I don't know if this is good or bad): [url="http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/ultimate_pro_audio/?_trksid=p4340.l2559"]http://myworld.ebay....sid=p4340.l2559[/url] The silent jacks are great too, you can unplug from your bass end without making your amp explode.
  9. I think it definitely has potential, never heard any bad reviews of it from actual owners. The whole issue with the blend sounding like two different sounds playing at the same time affects all fuzz pedals with a blend, but the sound meshes together more when you play with deader strings or put mild overdrive before or after it (or play into a tube amp). I think a blend is crucial to retain some dynamics in the sound rather than a 'fix' to try and retain more low end. The demos I've seen don't sound too great because he was using a really bright Jazz with the blend favouring the clean side. My favourite fuzz (and I've tried a lot) is still the Bass Big Muff with the clean blend mod. The fuzz itself has more than enough low end, but I mix in a little bit of clean to give me more growl and dynamics when I dig in, and it all sounds blended together and natural. I reckon the MXR could pull off similar sounds when used right, plus it can get more raspier/synthier with the gain cranked.
  10. Who knows - but both speakers will probably reach their excursion limits well before 500W. The LF will probably take more power but will probably sound more muffled.
  11. I would go for this instead: [url="http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eminence-Delta-15-15-400W-4-Ohm-Loudspeaker-Driver-/140723536631?pt=UK_ConElec_SpeakersPASystems_RL&hash=item20c3c6c2f7#ht_2583wt_1139"]http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Eminence-Delta-15-15-400W-4-Ohm-Loudspeaker-Driver-/140723536631?pt=UK_ConElec_SpeakersPASystems_RL&hash=item20c3c6c2f7#ht_2583wt_1139[/url] Almost the same thing, but cheaper, and it's not the LF version so will have slightly more top end, which is what you want if using it standalone.
  12. If you thought the 442 had some serious bottom, wait until you try the Fatman! It WOMPS!
  13. VT Bass fo' sho'. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_be9GSlt_eQ[/media] Or swap your Markbass head for something dirtier sounding like the Orange Terror Bass, Ashdown MiBass, Ampeg PF350/500, or Genz Streamliner.
  14. Math geek time - I recognise that number! 2[sup]31 [/sup]= 2147483648, which is the upper limit for a 32-bit number. Maybe he entered the price as 9999999999999999999999999 and it Gumtree rounded it down?!
  15. No, but a Squier VM Jazz would be a good starting point!
  16. If this was the black one I would have bitten your arm off.
  17. ^ I agree with that order. Beefier output from the 71, old school from the 58, and meh from the Mexican. #1 is my fave.
  18. I've always wanted to go to one of the ATP festivals, but Minehead in December doesn't sound too inviting!
  19. I'd invest in some decent custom fit earplugs too while you're at it!
  20. I would have thought they would design the cab to match the speakers, not just throw in Eminence or Celestion depending on whatever they had left lying around?!
  21. Are you putting the images in IMG tags? imgur.com is my photo host of choice, no need to sign up and really simple interface.
  22. The Promethean has a pre/post switch on the back, but I don't know about the clones.
  23. The 502 is even smaller but still covers the inputs you need: [url="http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx"]http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx[/url] The older Eurorack range UB502 can be found dirt cheap used on eBay. They brought out a newer Xenyx range that has a 'British' EQ and 'Xenyx' instead of 'IMP' preamps but is otherwise pretty much the same. Remember most budget mixers including this one are not suitable for directly connecting a passive bass, but you say you're gonna be using a preamp so you'll be fine!
  24. I can list a few smaller bands I've seen locally: Zocalo Steak Slabdragger Snakebite XII Boar Sea Bastard Gouranga Iron Witch
  25. I haven't heard their other stuff but there's definitely a bit of southern rock / Kings Of Leon vibe in that track.
