  1. If you thought the 442 had some serious bottom, wait until you try the Fatman! It WOMPS!
  2. VT Bass fo' sho'. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_be9GSlt_eQ[/media] Or swap your Markbass head for something dirtier sounding like the Orange Terror Bass, Ashdown MiBass, Ampeg PF350/500, or Genz Streamliner.
  3. Math geek time - I recognise that number! 2[sup]31 [/sup]= 2147483648, which is the upper limit for a 32-bit number. Maybe he entered the price as 9999999999999999999999999 and it Gumtree rounded it down?!
  4. No, but a Squier VM Jazz would be a good starting point!
  5. If this was the black one I would have bitten your arm off.
  6. ^ I agree with that order. Beefier output from the 71, old school from the 58, and meh from the Mexican. #1 is my fave.
  7. I've always wanted to go to one of the ATP festivals, but Minehead in December doesn't sound too inviting!
  8. I'd invest in some decent custom fit earplugs too while you're at it!
  9. I would have thought they would design the cab to match the speakers, not just throw in Eminence or Celestion depending on whatever they had left lying around?!
  10. Are you putting the images in IMG tags? imgur.com is my photo host of choice, no need to sign up and really simple interface.
  11. The Promethean has a pre/post switch on the back, but I don't know about the clones.
  12. The 502 is even smaller but still covers the inputs you need: [url="http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx"]http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx[/url] The older Eurorack range UB502 can be found dirt cheap used on eBay. They brought out a newer Xenyx range that has a 'British' EQ and 'Xenyx' instead of 'IMP' preamps but is otherwise pretty much the same. Remember most budget mixers including this one are not suitable for directly connecting a passive bass, but you say you're gonna be using a preamp so you'll be fine!
  13. I can list a few smaller bands I've seen locally: Zocalo Steak Slabdragger Snakebite XII Boar Sea Bastard Gouranga Iron Witch
  14. I haven't heard their other stuff but there's definitely a bit of southern rock / Kings Of Leon vibe in that track.
  15. I quit one 6 months ago - Crybaby Deathmatch. Their current bassist will be moving overseas soon so they will be looking again soon! They are London based though Wooks so might be a bit far. But if you just want some new stuff to listen to have you checked out Acid King?
  16. Look out for a used Ampeg Micro VR stack? Runs at just under £500 new so should come under £400 used. Loud enough to gig with also, especially if you add the 2nd cab:
  17. The Oval Tavern and The Ship in Croydon always have rock/blues cover bands in too.
  18. I don't suppose you kept a note of the serial number? EDIT: Beat me to it! Also, join the club here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/107324-stolen-basses/
  19. The bassist's beard is truly epic also.
  20. Got an Ampeg SVT210AV yesterday - a quarter of an Ampeg fridge at under 12kg. Sounds sweet and tempted to buy another to stack! Definitely one of the best value lightweight cabs out there.
  21. [quote name='LiamPodmore' timestamp='1335439898' post='1631074']Again, just had a listen to a few youtube videos and this doesn't sound too bad, although it seems a bit too much like the higher gain settings on my Behringer for my tastes, but thanks for the quick reply. Might pick one up and have a play with it anyway. [/quote] The Bad Monkey can do low gain barely-overdriven sounds, which is where it sounds best. It sounds similar to the BB Preamp.
  22. I don't normally go for fancy wood top basses, but that's sexual chocolate.
  23. I'll give the Oxfuzz a whirl...
  24. Quite a gaseous year for me. Selling off my Orange rig and gone for something more lightweight, tried the Promethean but now ended with with a Streamliner and Ampeg SVT210AV, with a Barefaced Midget on the way. Pedals - bought and sold a Zoom B3 and got rid of a lot of unused stuff. Only new item I'm hanging onto there is a Tech21 Oxford which sounds great. Basses, I had inexplicable GAS for a Stingray so bought and pretty much straight away sold a Ray35. Was tempted by a BB1025X to replace my BB415 but sticking with it for now. Only GAS I have bass-wise is the new 2012 model Schecter Hellcat VI, just to try something a bit different: [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/VGKo0.jpg[/IMG]
  25. I don't think the 210 is overkill for home practice, considering it occupies such as small area and is pretty cheap to boot. Only downside is the handle on top getting in the way of some heads unless they have big feet on the bottom (which I think the GK ones do from memory).
