1. A Zoom B3 is another option that gives you lots of toys to play with also.
2. No but can put some up tonight!
3. Used Yamaha BB415 or BB425 - great necks and only 42mm at the nut.
4. I was surprised by that outburst, the fact that the ad was a year old makes it hilarious! The prices on these have only recently crashed.
5. The reason for this mainly applies to guitarists who get distortion from their amp. Distorting delay and reverb sounds muddier than delaying and reverbing a distorted sound. Since most bass players pay their amps clean it doesn't make so much difference.
6. That pedal sounds great - sure you would find a use for it in your stoner rock band! And BTW the way if you're after a good cheap P/J that suits the genre perfectly you should check out the Yamaha BB range!
7. Yeah, the volume boost is unavoidable - on dry mode, if you have the volume all the way down, you just get a clean sound at normal volume. Any increase on the volume knob from there adds fuzz volume on top. I use my BBM on dry mode with the volume around 2 o'clock to get the wet/dry ratio to my liking, then turn down the master volume control I added with a simple mod: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/112212-bass-big-muff-volume-and-feedback-mods/ Definitely get it if you've never played one before, they are inexpensive and easy to sell if you decide to move it on!
8. Tosh. The strings will hit the poles on the neck pickup if you hit them like a bastard, like I do, but there just isn't enough movement by the bridge for it to happen.
9. Nearly two months without contact and you're only just starting to get suspicious? Did you pay via Paypal? If so you can open a dispute through them, and you should also have his email address.
10. I love the sound of a fretless Precision myself. Try before you buy on the VMJ though - the ebanol fingerboard is a bit like marmite (I hated it).
11. I would describe a Warwick Corvette as being like a Corvette.
12. The Visual Sound volume pedal has an active boost in it. Also, you can use a regular passive volume pedal like the Ernie Ball as an expression pedal if you have the right cable - stereo jack to two mono jacks.
13. 'kinell, your board weighs more than my tube amp!
14. I rewired the push button S1 switch on my Precision to bypass the volume/tone circuit. Sounds a lot brighter but also thinner to my ears, I never use it. When I can be bothered I'll either return it to stock or use that pot as the tone control with the switch selecting different caps.
15. Never heard of this before, but the overdrive sounds pretty damn good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeM6g4qOoK0
16. I had some on a Fender P5 that fit without any trouble.
17. Yamaha BBs have great necks. My BB415 is a slim 42mm at the nut for comfort and 18mm spacing at the bridge.
18. Looks like I will be hunting down a box weekend after this one if it doesn't shift by then!
19. Definitely. Remind me to never buy a bass from you!
20. I've found no need to adjust mine. Treble at 10 o'clock, mids at noon, bass at 2 o'clock - set and forget, make small adjustments to bass/treble as necessary... I wouldn't mind if it just had those two eq controls!
21.
I picked up an old Tone Factor 442 Analogue Filter and that sounds awesome after fuzz!
Why, yes it does! http://www.box.com/shared/qammyl0py7

Not much at all, much quieter than the VT Bass anyway! I recommend ordering from ToneFactor.
23. Doesn't it come with them stock? I remember the geezer on the YouTube video who reminds me of Super Hans saying it contains 4 KT88 toobs.
24. Genz Benz Streamliner, TC Electronic RH450 / Classic 450 or Ampeg Micro VR / PF350 if you want a small lightweight head. These aren't full tube amps but are close enough in sound. Vintage or reissue Ampeg B15 if you can find one, afford one, and don't need to be loud! What amp do you have now? The pedal solution might be the easiest way to get there.
