1. That's a very warm barely overdriven sound, probably just coming from the amp rather than using an effect, There's plenty of options out there but you can definitely get that sound from a Catalinbread SFT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_VjBTsx4gg

Just order it from Tonefactor in the US, it will be cheaper than anywhere you might happen to find it in the UK. I recommend you get an 18v adaptor for it too, I use a Diago 9-18v converter tip on my daisy chain.
3. Not sure how I would pack it, the bulk of the hard case means l can't use a regular bass cardboard box, I wouldn't like to just whack a label on the case and send it as is. I'm happy to hang on for a while to see if anyone nearby wants it, if it doesn't go in a few weeks I'll look into postage options.
4. Nice angry sound but not enough low end for my liking. Legend has it the XXL was designed as a guitar pedal, then they later relabelled it as the bass XXL when they found that bassists liked em then brought out a new lower gain version for guitar.
5. Make it even more superber if you have a soldering iron: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/112212-bass-big-muff-volume-and-feedback-mods Volume mod to make the dry mode usable without a huge volume boost, and feedback mod to make it sound even angrier.
6. Get your string-to-string volume balance sorted first by adjusting the string and pickup heights. A compressor will help, but you want it as good as you can get it without one first.
7. Yeah, I agree - BigSmokeBass is biassed as he's trying to sell an SR5! ;-)
8. I picked this up a short while ago to try out, but am now moving it on again. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever, it looks, feels and sounds fantastic but I've come to realise I prefer passive basses and am currently lusting after a Yamaha BB1025X / BB2025X (for which I would do you a trade). It's in the same mint condition as it was when TommyK sold it on here, so I'll reuse his photos if he doesn't mind! Only very light swirling on the pickguard, no scratches or dings elsewhere - since I tried it out and decided it wasn't for me it has sat in the case ever since! Read his review of it here also: http://basschat.co.u...l__ray35+review It comes with a decent Hiscox Lifeflight hard case also. Price is £450 picked up from Croydon, or could meet anywhere in the London area. Courier is now an option also! SOLD!
9. They are selling for that price on this forum. I know this, because I bought one for that price on this forum just a few days ago!
10. No good would come of this, there would just be more spam on the forum and less things for sale.
11. The offset ones are better than the totally straight ones. Half of my pedals don't have the jacks soldered to the board anyway, they're fine to use with those.
12. The SP cabs are pretty dark sounding and inefficient, I prefer the OBC410... Or my Matamp 2x12!
13. You can adjust the max range with a knob on the pedal but it still doesn't work, backing it off makes things better but you are unable to sweep through the entire range.
14. I had the same problem, so ordered a Zoom expression pedal from Thomann. Another annoyance is that there's only one socket so you can connect either an expression or tap tempo pedal but not both. Might see if I can build a mini tap tempo pedal with expression thru jack and extra footswitch to change modes.
15. What voltage AC are we talking? Check out the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power range.
16. Ha, I found something similar with one of those microfibre cloths rolled up and stuffed under the bridge! I'll have to go out and buy a few different types of flannel now to try those!
17. At that price, look for a used BBE Opto Stomp, or an EBS Multicomp if you can stretch a bit more.
18. It runs at 16-bit when using it as an audio interface. I assume the DAC (digital-analogue converter) is 16-bit and it's the DSP (digital signal processor) that's 32-bit.
19.
Sh*t Off! I've just found this >> http://www.thomann.d..._200_bundle.htm At that cost he could get 3, leaving 1 as a back up... Eude
Sod that shop in Edingburgh, get these GK amps! 200W into a 4-ohm speaker will be plenty loud enough for a small rehearsal room, and this is quality gear. Only problem is the amps are so small they could be easily pinched.
20. The Yamaha RBX270F is a great bass and can be found dirt cheap used.
21. Great demo - you should let Dave know, he might want to put it on his site. It might look like it was created in the 90s but he should still be able to embed a Youtube vid!
22. Since you already have a rack, how about selling it and getting the rackmount RPM or RBI?
23. The Sansamp even has a mid control!
24. That thing is screaming out for a Status carbon neck! I see from the other pics that the the brand name is 'Brahner', which is a brand most of us have never heard of. I found out that they are a German company but not much more than that. How much do these basses sell for new, are they a cheap Fender copy or a more boutique bass like a Sandberg?
