1. Does the buzz start when you let go your strings and stop when you touch them? That would indicate a grounding issue. Check your cables too and try your setup with one pedal at a time to eliminate the cause. It could also just be that both these pedals amplify noise and feedback like a mofo and you weren't expecting the expected behaviour!
2. You can get an octave up with decent polyphonic tracking like the MicroPOG, but there is a slight delay to the effect and it sounds a bit cheesy, never tried another octave up to compare though.
3. I was playing with a BB415 on the bridge pickup and the synth tracked instantly with absolutely no noticeable delay all over the fretboard including down to low B. The other synths were mistracking all over the shop and had a big delay between striking the note and hearing the sound.
4. Had a good chance to play with this today, here are some thoughts: Overdrive - BB Preamp sounds reasonably close to the real deal, with the added feature of a clean blend. The Boss ODB-3 sim is not far off either although has tone control instead of active hi/lo eq so doesn't have the same monstrous lows. The Bass Big Muff is also great, adding features to the original of a proper blend control and the ability to have the bass boost mode on with the bend simultaneously. The Sansamp BDDI is pretty good too. The rest are pretty meh. Filters - the Q-Tron and Moog LPF are excellent, although I can't get the expression control to work very well with them. Perhaps I need a real Zoom pedal instead of my Moog one, I'll have to look up the specs. Synths - Mostly garbage except the G5 clone which has flawless tracking and a very usable sound. Never heard a real G5 to compare though. Compressors - The are surprisingly good, I remember them being useless on the B2. They fatten up the tone nicely. Amp Sims - Only had a quick go of these through headphones, will try through the monitors tomorrow. They seem pretty average overall, most are clean, the SVT / B-15 / Bassman can get a bit dirty but can't do a heavy overdrive. The B-15 sounds nice when pushed for a fat round Motown tone. Only had a brief spin of the delays and modulation but they seem ok. With the looper, tuner, drum machine, USB audio interface, DI output etc this is a bit of a bargain unit
5. Any reason you're going for the B9? Not tried one but I thought it had nearly the same effects as the B2, which doesn't do heavy distortion very well. The B3 on the other hand has a GREAT Bass Big Muff simulation and all kinds of clean blend trickery to keep things punchy.
6. Would she even notice the difference? Even if she did you could always say "That pedal you got me was so great I now need to trade up to the deluxe version!".
7. Top customer service there mate - I've sent you an email with my order number.
8. The B9 has more in common with the older B2 than the new B3. Not tried a B9, but I had a B2 and it is not the droid you're looking for.
9. If it makes you feel any better, I also ordered on Sunday and am still waiting as well! The last pedal I bought that got sent via Royal Fail took 2 weeks to arrive...
10.
I suspect that it's to do with the reduced scale (20"?) making correct intonation harder to achieve (i.e. being 1mm out on a 34" scale is going to have a less noticeable effect than being 1mm out on a 20" scale. I'm perhaps being far too critical but I've heard a few of these Kala's now and every one of them has sounded slightly 'out' to me.
Nowt to do with intonation, he's trying to tune it up! Intonation is a problem though with the fretted one when you get high up on the neck. The fretless one should be better in this regard in the hands of a good player - violinists can do it!
11. Check the strings aren't slipping, then keep tightening them - they won't break if they are below pitch. I think they must take a while to settle in since they are so stretchy!
12. Er... what's the problem exactly? I can tune mine, although the strings can get stuck in the nut making things difficult. Either lift the string at the nut slightly to relieve the tension or lube up the nut slots with some pencil lead (that sounded dirty).
13. The B3 supposedly has some killer Rat and Muff simulations that can all be blended too, I have one on the way and can't wait to play with it. I Was not that impressed with the B2 so we'll see. Regarding the ODB-3, it has a monstrous low end, and while it can get fizzy, it sounds just fine as long as you don't boost the treble much and don't use a tweetered cab. It does have an inherent mid scoop though yet can still be heard, and is the cheapest way to make your guitarist sh*t himself for sure.
14. I've got one - but unfortunately am keeping it to use with my new toy that's on it's way to me (Zoom B3)! Works really well with the Xero. There's one on eBay currently £39 delivered but it could go up... Stick a wanted ad up, you never know...
15. Record a clean sound to your computer via usb with the B3. Then you can play that via either the headphone output on your PC or an MP3 player into the B3's input.
16. Only thing with octavers is that they can sound synthy and don't keep up with fast playing. Perhaps a digital one like the MicroPOG would though.
17. I'd start off with a Boss ODB-3, especially as you can pick en up dirt cheap used. I saw Acid King play last year and the bassist used one through a cranked SVT and it sounded immense. In fact I might just hold onto mine, perhaps have a go at modding it... Also the Bass Big Muff and new MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe.
18. Put them here: http://guitarpatches.com/patches.php?unit=B3 This site was a good resource for the B2. None there for the B3 yet, get in there!
19. I've ordered one of these now too with the proceeds of my pedal sale. I had loads of effects I wasn't really using, this will give me loads more to play with instead! The bass muff sounds pretty good in this demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXcF4qJKvI8 I have high hopes for the amp sims, OD/fuzz and Moog lowpass filter.
20. Sorry but you've already set the bar now - you won't sell this without some saucier pics.
