1. The SP cabs are pretty dark sounding and inefficient, I prefer the OBC410... Or my Matamp 2x12!
2. You can adjust the max range with a knob on the pedal but it still doesn't work, backing it off makes things better but you are unable to sweep through the entire range.
3. I had the same problem, so ordered a Zoom expression pedal from Thomann. Another annoyance is that there's only one socket so you can connect either an expression or tap tempo pedal but not both. Might see if I can build a mini tap tempo pedal with expression thru jack and extra footswitch to change modes.
4. What voltage AC are we talking? Check out the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power range.
5. Ha, I found something similar with one of those microfibre cloths rolled up and stuffed under the bridge! I'll have to go out and buy a few different types of flannel now to try those!
6. At that price, look for a used BBE Opto Stomp, or an EBS Multicomp if you can stretch a bit more.
7. It runs at 16-bit when using it as an audio interface. I assume the DAC (digital-analogue converter) is 16-bit and it's the DSP (digital signal processor) that's 32-bit.
8.
Sh*t Off! I've just found this >> http://www.thomann.d..._200_bundle.htm At that cost he could get 3, leaving 1 as a back up... Eude
Sod that shop in Edingburgh, get these GK amps! 200W into a 4-ohm speaker will be plenty loud enough for a small rehearsal room, and this is quality gear. Only problem is the amps are so small they could be easily pinched.
9. The Yamaha RBX270F is a great bass and can be found dirt cheap used.
10. Great demo - you should let Dave know, he might want to put it on his site. It might look like it was created in the 90s but he should still be able to embed a Youtube vid!
11. Since you already have a rack, how about selling it and getting the rackmount RPM or RBI?
12. The Sansamp even has a mid control!
13. That thing is screaming out for a Status carbon neck! I see from the other pics that the the brand name is 'Brahner', which is a brand most of us have never heard of. I found out that they are a German company but not much more than that. How much do these basses sell for new, are they a cheap Fender copy or a more boutique bass like a Sandberg?
14. Does the buzz start when you let go your strings and stop when you touch them? That would indicate a grounding issue. Check your cables too and try your setup with one pedal at a time to eliminate the cause. It could also just be that both these pedals amplify noise and feedback like a mofo and you weren't expecting the expected behaviour!
15. You can get an octave up with decent polyphonic tracking like the MicroPOG, but there is a slight delay to the effect and it sounds a bit cheesy, never tried another octave up to compare though.
16. I was playing with a BB415 on the bridge pickup and the synth tracked instantly with absolutely no noticeable delay all over the fretboard including down to low B. The other synths were mistracking all over the shop and had a big delay between striking the note and hearing the sound.
17. Had a good chance to play with this today, here are some thoughts: Overdrive - BB Preamp sounds reasonably close to the real deal, with the added feature of a clean blend. The Boss ODB-3 sim is not far off either although has tone control instead of active hi/lo eq so doesn't have the same monstrous lows. The Bass Big Muff is also great, adding features to the original of a proper blend control and the ability to have the bass boost mode on with the bend simultaneously. The Sansamp BDDI is pretty good too. The rest are pretty meh. Filters - the Q-Tron and Moog LPF are excellent, although I can't get the expression control to work very well with them. Perhaps I need a real Zoom pedal instead of my Moog one, I'll have to look up the specs. Synths - Mostly garbage except the G5 clone which has flawless tracking and a very usable sound. Never heard a real G5 to compare though. Compressors - The are surprisingly good, I remember them being useless on the B2. They fatten up the tone nicely. Amp Sims - Only had a quick go of these through headphones, will try through the monitors tomorrow. They seem pretty average overall, most are clean, the SVT / B-15 / Bassman can get a bit dirty but can't do a heavy overdrive. The B-15 sounds nice when pushed for a fat round Motown tone. Only had a brief spin of the delays and modulation but they seem ok. With the looper, tuner, drum machine, USB audio interface, DI output etc this is a bit of a bargain unit
18. Any reason you're going for the B9? Not tried one but I thought it had nearly the same effects as the B2, which doesn't do heavy distortion very well. The B3 on the other hand has a GREAT Bass Big Muff simulation and all kinds of clean blend trickery to keep things punchy.
19. Would she even notice the difference? Even if she did you could always say "That pedal you got me was so great I now need to trade up to the deluxe version!".
20. Top customer service there mate - I've sent you an email with my order number.
21. The B9 has more in common with the older B2 than the new B3. Not tried a B9, but I had a B2 and it is not the droid you're looking for.
22. If it makes you feel any better, I also ordered on Sunday and am still waiting as well! The last pedal I bought that got sent via Royal Fail took 2 weeks to arrive...
23.
I suspect that it's to do with the reduced scale (20"?) making correct intonation harder to achieve (i.e. being 1mm out on a 34" scale is going to have a less noticeable effect than being 1mm out on a 20" scale. I'm perhaps being far too critical but I've heard a few of these Kala's now and every one of them has sounded slightly 'out' to me.
Nowt to do with intonation, he's trying to tune it up! Intonation is a problem though with the fretted one when you get high up on the neck. The fretless one should be better in this regard in the hands of a good player - violinists can do it!
