1. Stealthy.
2. That's a good price for one of the cleanest 70s Precisions I've seen. I was born in '79 and have a '79 natural T40, this would look good next to it but I must resist!
3. What is compression? Read this: http://www.ovnilab.c...les/howto.shtml And the low pass filter on your amp does the exact opposite of the high pass filter in the Thumpinator.
4. Q: which parts are graphite??cheers.. A: Graphite is the colour of the bass, sorry for any confusion.
5.
Dannybuoy, it would be better if it was been a "Sterling GAS" ahaha
If this had an extra string I would be tempted! Thinking of getting a Ray35 instead.
6. You could look at a Dingwall with fanned frets - some of them have a 37" B string (shorter for the other strings).
7. That RATM cover is fuelling my Stingray GAS!
8. I'm after one of these but in chrome!
9. How come you're standing so far away from the rest of the band in the first pic? Perhaps it's that famous Clarky GAS!
10. I'll take it if it falls through, by sheer coincidence I decided yesterday to try and hunt one of these down!
11. DHA VT1, Xotix Bass BB Preamp, and Catalinbread SFT are my recommendations.

Fuzz!

I found the SFX Micro Fuzz great for Muse tones too, it's like a synthier raspier muff sound. I think the new MXR bass fuzz coming out is a Tonebender clone also like the Micro Fuzz.
13. eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MARCUS-MILLER-BASS-REPLICA-EXTREMELY-HIGH-QUALITY-ASTONISHINGLY-REAL-TONE-/280810383013?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item41619a66a5#ht_500wt_1287 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MARCUS-MILLER-BASS-REPLICA-EXTREMELY-HIGH-QUALITY-ASTONISHINGLY-REAL-TONE-/280810385510?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item41619a7066#ht_500wt_1287 Spotted them on Gumtree the other day too: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/marcus-miller-bass-replica-extremely-high-quality-astonishingly-real-tone/95012306
14. Probably nowhere near as good as the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz V - take a look at that instead!
15. GTFO!
16. Pyramid Gold flats are nickel, and very nice they are too.
17. I met Chris Morris at one of my gigs, he'd come to see his nephew play bass in one of the other bands!
18. Nice playing! Another good book for you to look at is 'The R&B Masters - The Way They Play' by Ed Friedland.
19. I found my B2 to be really noisy when on a daisy chain with other pedals, but quiet when used with it's own supply. If you experience the same but want the convenience of a single supply you can get a Diago isolation adapter tip or Gigrig Virtual Battery.
20. I just bought one of those 'Muflers' from eBay - hoping it'll do a better job than my mousemat! Ideally you want something that arcs with the varying height of the strings, not sure if this item does but will find out soon. I also enquired to the manufacturer of the Bassmute about prices and how to order etc but they never got back to me, then I found that cheapo Mufler and they may have lost a sale!
21. Just checked it out and it's apparently 47.6mm just like the Fender Precision V. Thanks though, but I would still like to try one and will do if I see one in a shop!
22. The tag format has changed since the site was updated, you instead of wrapping the video ID in an embed tag, you now put the whole Youtube URL in a media tag.
23. My first foray into 5ers was a Fender Precision V, but I didn't get on very well with the neck due to the width of the nut. Turns out the 5-string Fender Jazz has the same chunky neck unlike the skinny 4-strings. I then got a Yamaha BB415 which I find perfect for my hands with a relatively narrow 42mm nut width. I'm looking around for a 5-string Jazz bass with a similarly sized nut. Nothing stupidly expensive, something I can find for well under a grand used. Any ideas for me?
24. I have an SFX Micro Thumpinator to do the same job, it's designed to have a very steep high pass filter roll off at that point. There's a video on Youtube that shows how much of a difference it makes to the speaker excursion, without the filter they are all over the place, and with the filter hardly moving at all yet producing the same perceived volume. Some graphic EQs won't be up to the job as they could have a less steep rolloff and a broader Q point were a 30Hz slider could actually affect freqs around 50Hz also. Sounds like yours has lots of bands if you have separate 25Hz and 30Hz sliders though!
