1. Drape some fur over it and disguise it as a dog?
2. If this were the 5 string version, in black, I'd be in trouble.
3. They are awesome. They measure 200W of clean power, with slight overdrive where it sounds best you get a hell of a lot more volume!
4. I've been listening to and playing mainly rock, grunge, stoner and doom metal, but now I am hooked on playing along to old funk and motown on my P-Bass! Jamerson has become my favourite bassist.
5.
After alot of trying and testing (not a cheap experiment!), I've found that lower guage LaBellas do the job for me. They don't go dead as quickly as alot of others (Status, for example) too.
I've just put some LaBellas on my P, don't like the sound right now, can't wait for them to go dead! TI's are my favourite at the though.
6. As low as you can get from a standard Levy's strap for me. But not as low as Rob Trujilo:
7. I've got an RBX270 that I've gigged with plenty of times, it's actually a bloody good bass! Don't worry 'bout a 'ting.
8. Dunlop nickels are my fave roundwound nowadays, much cheaper than DRs too!
9. Surprised Orange and Ampeg aren't on the list for a rock covers band! The new Ampeg PF heads are getting glowing reviews as is the Orange Terror Bass.
10. The Pearl octave pedal sounds quite like the OC-2, and has an added octave up for good measure. Lots if people are happy with the Aguilar Octamizer these days too.
11. Makes sense to me. The fretting hand is the one that requires the most strength and dexterity. I bet more people would do the same if they were given a free choice from the beginning rather than being told "if you're right handed you must play like this".
12. There's also a Blueberry just gone up in the classifieds: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=146169 If you buy used you can always flip it if you don't like it and not lose out.
If you want low gain, what about the wren and cuff Phat Phuk? low gain warmth is what it does...
It's pretty clean when stock, tweaking the trimpots can yield overdrive but it can be quite brittle sounding. Great for pushing a tube amp into overdrive though!
13. Catalinbread SFT is top of the pile for me.
14. I'm left handed in general but naturally play bass right handed. The way I see it, the fretting hand has to be the most precise so that should be my left! But I'm semi-ambidextrous since I use my right hand for certain tasks and left for others.
15. Yamaha BB415 / BB425! I love my BB415, slightly narrower at the nut than a Fender 5 string neck too, which suits me perfectly.
16. I spot a common theme in band names for that particular lineup!

I've not tried a Moog to compare, but it's definitely a contender and many even prefer the Xero. Plus it has separate clean and filter volume levels which is nice, it's much smaller plus it's true bypass.

Get the Moog EP-2 expression pedal if you haven't got one already! Works great with the Xero.
19. Gramma Pad under the cab, or if you're using an 8 ohm cab, flick the switch to 4 ohms to reduce it's power output!
20. Never seen those amps before, I wonder how they compare to the Micro VR and the B100R combos... EDIT: Found this on Talkbass:
The 350 incorporates the Micro-VR's preamp and pairs it with a 350-watt class-D output section. The 500 borrows heavily from the 7Pro, but drops the tube, and adds some of the "tube emulation" from the Micro-VR.
21. Trace Elliot 1153 cabs sound great and you can pick em up for £100 if you're lucky. Fat low end, nice highs, and thankfully no tweeters. Stack a couple of those up and you'd have a kick arse rig.
22. Looks like a bigger uglier RH450 wearing an Ashdown amp sleeve.
23. Tonefactor have a 15% discount that finishes tomorrow too - JULY15.
24. Both totally different pedals, despite their Ampeg roots. The SFT is my favourite overdrive but it doesn't mimic a mic'ed up amp like the VT Bass is designed to do. I did a recording session a couple of weeks ago and went into the SFT into the VT - they work really well together. The SFT does flip the phase though! So for recording or gig emergencies, get the VT.
