1. Presumably you're swapping basses mid-set and not just retuning? If so you should expect to have to tweak your volume or eq if you don't want to fiddle with the amp you could try an eq pedal perhaps? Also if your jazz is too thumpy, how do you have the controls set? Can you just back off the neck pickup a tad or even lower the pickup slightly?
2. Dunno about the cheapo bridges on eBay but they are probably decent enough. However the Gotoh 201 is an awesome bridge for £30. Place a wanted ad in the forum and you might even find a used one!
3. What an awful monstrosity of a pedal!
4. The Novation Bass Station has analogue inputs and can be used in the same way.
5. Just bought these of the forum recently, but I'm not using them so off they go... Fender Sub-Lime Bass Fuzz Awesome bass fuzz with an adjustable crossover that keeps the low end clean and punchy while fuzzing up your mids and highs. Quite vintage and mellow sounding. Selling it because I prefer the more agressive sound of my Supercollider plus it's too big for my little Pedaltrain mini! Mint condition with box and plush Fender carry bag. £80 posted - NOW SOLD Ashdown James Lomenzo Hyperdrive Great distortion pedal that just distorts your midrange, with adjustable Q, frequency and blend. Not forgetting the funky VU meter! Good condition except for a tiny chip on the back side, comes with original box. £35 posted. SOLD Might be interested in trades for any of the following: Wilson Freaker wah Sovtek Green or Civil War Big Muff EHX Nano Small Stone
6. I think the deluxe is a totally different circuit rather than just a standard one with extra bells and whistles. It has 2 different octave sounds that you can blend together, a clean one similar to the EBS Octabass and a synthier growlier one similar to the Boss OC-2. It also has a mid boost switch to make it easier to hear the effect in a dense mix. I'm not 100% but I expect the tracking is probably also be better on the deluxe. If you want a cheap basic octaver then the standard one will do you, but personally I'd go for the deluxe (or the Aguilar Octamizer).
7. I reckon the Wilson is your best bet if you don't mind spending the extra cash... I'm thinking of ordering the vintage spec 12-position myself. Also, I've heard the that Morley Power Wah is much better than the Dual Bass Wah. Also the new G-Labs Wowee bass wah sounds great from the clips I've seen on youtube.
8. Beats me. Maybe those limits aren't actually enforced in practice!
9. I always thought the limit was £18 but it looks like they raised it to £105 in Dec 2008 and £135 January this year! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7727717.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8441546.stm That would be £135 per package, so you might get stung if they were shipped together and the sender put the full value down on the documentation. Some shops in the US put down the value as $25 to avoid customs charges (typically 17.5% VAT +£8 'handling' charge) but that means they are only insured for that much if it were to go missing. Looks like these people could get away with increasing that now though with these new limits in place!
10. Fender Sub-Lime fits the description. It's like a mellow Big Muff, with an adjustable crossover that keeps the low end pure and clean while fuzzing up the mids and highs only. It has the tightest deepest punchiest low end of any fuzz I've ever played with and it's quite vintage sounding in the top end so it even sounds good recorded direct. Here's Theo AKA DosiYanarchy's clips: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8561252 Only drawback is that it is EFFING HUGE!
11. Also, sway your body or tap your feet in time with the beat instead of standing there like a breadstick. Your body will get locked into the rhythm and your fingers will follow!
12. Looks like they tried to do a fretless conversion by grinding the frets down and then gave up half way through!
13. There's quite a bit of room either side of the bridge with standard P ashtray on a 4-string, I doubt it'll fit over this one but you never know, so I'll try it out later! I might have to put this on eBay if there's no more interest around here...
14. There's the Pignose amps, but they're not that cheap or easily available: http://www.imuso.co.uk/Amplifiers/Amplifie...Amplifier-Combo
15. A Yamaha BB414 / BB415 would look good in that setting: You can get the BB415 5-string for £269 new which is a bit over budget but it's worth checking eBay! As mentioned previously, Trabens are also a good bet, there's a couple in the for sale section.
16. Never heard of these before - so the pickups sense the string vibration optically and convert that into sound?!
17. If you don't mind an extra string you can get the 5-string version cheaper than the 4 for some reason at £269 with free delivery: http://www.rattleanddrum.com/product/3111/...ne-red-5-string
18. There's room for a 3 way deal here folks if someone wants to buy this Jazz so Old Horse Murphy can buy my P5! Which will turn into a 4 way deal once it goes to his friend!
19.
Cheers Zoe - it is distinctive and the band laughed at me at first but I'm well pleased with it's sound and looks. If anyone could tell me how to post a bass without a case...
If there's a guitar shop nearby you can alway ask them if they have any spare boxes... I thought this would be up your alley Zoe, saw your purple Westfield P elsewhere around here! Thi would look great with a black scratchplate...
20.

Who the hell is that?!
21. Somebody here wants one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=74405 I'm even tempted myself, it would go nicely with my CMD121P! Would part ex for my P5 if interested, but Mrs Geester may have something to say about that! So would Mrs Dannybuoy come to think of it...
22. I've heard good things about this particular pedal, it's a clone of the much sought after vintage Boss DC-3: http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/...CC300-Pedal/94B
23.
Some of those Traben bridges upset me..
I think they'd look cool if you were in a metal band: You can buy those bridges (or reproductions at least) on eBay too! Although the sun and flame versions do look a bit naff. I personally hate basses that have been pimped with gold hardware and pearloid scratchplates. Too much bling, innit.
