1. You could try a capo on the 3rd fret - instead D standard tuning!
2. Sorry, not interested in trades at the moment, I'll be here waiting if you sell your amp though!
3. Use Boots padded plasters, the thick white ones. They will likely need replacing after a few songs so keep a bundle in your back pocket! I did this once and it got me through a gig pain free. I would never use superglue myself!
4. Nah, I'm hanging onto it for now, although I may pick up a used BBM if I see one so I can compare them side by side. I discovered last night that VT Bass -> Sub-Lime sounds sublime! The fuzz is pretty mellow by itself, hitting it with a bit of a treble boost sounds awesome.
5. I've seen them go for £100, but some have priced them much lower at around £80.
6. Accidental Insertion
7. I received Theo's one yesterday and I'm liking it so far. It is quite subtle compared to my Supercollider, but on the other hand it handles high output basses much better and the low end absolutely ROARS. A very useable bread&butter fuzz sound that retains definition very nicely. I think it will be a keeper until I can find something that sounds as good in a smaller package - I want to check out the Bass Big Muff next!
8.
It might be worth bering in mind than when Leo designed these things, It doubtful he was expecting them to survive for 20, 30+ years...
Do you mean Leo Fender or Leo Quan (inventor of the Badass bridge)?
9. Also, have a scan through http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26654, you might find someone local in Kent!
10. Well I've been wanting to check the sub-lime out so I'll take it!
11. Sure, you can have 2 keys for £700 and I'll throw in a free bass.
12. +1 on the SFT. I have a VT Bass, and the SFT trumps it for old school motown / funk tones using a P-Bass and flats (the VT wins for grind with roundwounds though). I've owned an EBS Valvedrive and DHA VT1 before also, they would all do a fine job (EBS sounds more old skool between the 2).
13. There's also a Subdecay Baby Quasar and a teeny tiny Malekko Phaser coming out in case you missed em!
14. Those Westfield purple P-Basses look cool... It's a shame that that Fender don't offer the same colours all these cheap makes do!
15. Well the new one looks like it's got a boost button for when you want to drive a power amp - so maybe they made the volume control more useable after all.
16. There's a sticky on this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26654 For London, I've heard Charlie Chandler's or The Gallery recommended for setups, they could probably do neck repairs also.
17. Next time, check out parcel2go, senditnow, or interparcel - cheap online services that use proper couriers like DHL, but at much lower prices! Sod Parcelfarce or Royal Fail...
18. Also, I find the big Dunlop triangles easier to use on bass rather than those little teardrop ones you useually see everywhere.
19. No, but they look interesting and I'd like to try a set. They even go up to .200, that's the biggest I've heard of for a bass string! You could always ask them direct: http://circlekstrings.com/store/contact.html
20. This is the kind of pedal that can fetch pretty high prices, but I've seen a fair few go for less than £45 before too so you didn't do too bad!
21. This brightened up my day: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=611919 I believe that random acts of kindness like this can spread like a happy infection and make the world a better place. If only bass players were put in charge of running the world, everything would be alright!
22. Well, you're welcome to come round and give it a try next time you're down in London! Good luck with the flat hunting...
23. To the top! I've managed to get my hands on a box now so I can offer postage (which should be about £20).
24. The White Falcon does it for me (Jack Lawrence plays one):
25.
Ill probably keep the P and just get a 5 string Lakland and be done. For now!
Or you could buy my Fender P5!
