Can get back to work now, didnt get the gig!
dannybuoy replied to 51m0n's topic in General Discussion
Yeah definitely chase them up, if they're trying to decide between you and someone else they might go with the one that seems the most keen! -
Any package coming through marked as being worth $25 or less should escape customs charges. They should sort you out, that's why I try and order from them when possible
-
Yup, bought a couple of pedals from Tonefactor, arrived in a week or less and no customs charges.

Try the Status half-rounds, they're growlier than flats but just as smooth. I like a woody tone to my fretless, I gasp when people go and epoxy over a lovely wooden board!
LM11 + 1212L = Great combo. Sod those big cabs. Am gassing for a VT pedal now though
Just get one - Fender P or J + VT Bass + Markbass rig sounds awesome! -
You could also plug it into the fx return to bypass the amp's preamp and use it as a power amp.

Warmoth SG with dual Dark Star pickups and Audere preamp

Just bought this recently here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=49761 Not 100% sure I want to get rid of this... It sounds great and plays brilliantly but after trying and buying various basses over the years, I\'ve come to the conclusion that I\'m a passive Fender P-Bass guy! Solid walnut body, rosewood neck (nice and chunky, smooth but not glossed finish) and ziricote (no, I\'ve never heard of this either!) fretboard. Gotoh bridge, Schaller tuners, dual Dark Star pickups (http://www.hammoneng.com) and an Audere 3ZB preamp (http://www.audereaudio.com/3ZB.htm) with 4 band EQ and a 3-way impedance control that can give either a deep woody tone or a thinner growlier sound (as well as a regular sound in the middle) at the click of a switch. It also comes with a hard case, straplocks and leather strap! After buying this I put on a fresh set of Pyramid Gold flats (awesome strings, worth £40 a set), but I can chuck a set of rounds on it if they\'re not your thing. It\'s in excellent condition bar a tiny chip/crack in the body which is barely noticeable but I will try and photograph later on (camera\'s dead at the moment!). Now reduced to £475. I\'d prefer to meet in person (I\'m in Streatham, SW London), but can post anywhere in the UK for £20. Anyone who wants to come over and try it through my Markbass combo is more than welcome! Clips! Rounds (Starts off with impedance switch on regular setting bridge pickup, then both, then neck. Then repeats in lo-Z mode for a deeper sound. EQ left flat.) Flats (Starts off with neck pickup, then both, then bridge. Very slight treble boost. More photos added: -
Way Huge Pork Loin for sale, bought brand new a few days ago, still unscathed with all box and papers and even a couple of tin badges. I've played it to try it out, then polished it up and put it back in it's box before I scratch it and can no longer claim it as 'new'! Nothing wrong with it at all, it's just I'm on a bit of an overdrive quest at the moment and it's not quite what I'm looking for. It's a very smooth and natural sounding overdrive but I use my VT Bass for that kind of sound already so I'm after something with a bit more balls. This pedal sounds really smooth and fat, not fizzy on the top end at all like a lot of overdrives. It also has a clean blend and sounds amazing as a low gain dirty boost. It seems to be the current flavour of the month overdrive over at Talkbass and is popping up on plenty of people's pedalboards! STRINGS: the place to go!
dannybuoy replied to ben_eat_pie's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Quite impressive prices! And free postage! Not the greatest selection for bass though, and no offers for buying more than one set! Good spot BTW!
I just bought some strings from his eBay store, he replied to tell me his site has just gone up. It's a bit bare and lots of categories are empty, but who knows, you might find a bargain on there if you look around. He gave me this discount code which gives 15% off until 10pm Sunday and is open for as many people who want to use it: stringstar15 The Pyramid Flats are £40 delivered, which is expensive, but not not bad considering they would cost $72 (£43.74) + P&P to buy them direct from the manufacturer. Plus flats last years so I don't mind splashing out on em! -
Do I need a compressor to play slap live?
dannybuoy replied to Beedster's topic in Theory and Technique
Well I don't slap. So when I try and it sounds all over the place with some major volume spikes, a compressor makes it sound much better. Of course, a well seasoned slapper with a much more refined technique than I would probably say otherwise! Also, a dual band compressor like the Multicomp should be good in theory for slap, as slapping and popping contains a lot of high frequency spikes, you can tame those whilst making the low end nice and fat. -

Yeah, but for slap I reckon it's a necessity. Tell you what Beedster, you can check out my Diamond Comp on a 'try-before-you-buy' scheme if you like! -

If you just want a stompboxto reduce volume, check this out: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/signal-pad-427-p.asp Seems overkill though, can you not get the pedals to output unity gain by adjusting the volume knobs? Otherwise contact Chunk, there might be some internal trimpots you can adjust. I've not heard of this issue with these peedals before!
-
Which flats did you try? Give D'Addario Chrones a go if you want bright flats.
-
There's a DHA subforum on here so you could ask there and Dave will answer you himself. I know these pedals are plenty loud enough to drive a power amp with the boost switched on but I've not had one of the newer ones with the XLR output so I don't know if the XLR is as loud as the main output.
-
True. Except for the WMD Fatman, the only filter that sounds crap after a fuzz but AMAZING afterwards!
-
Some fuzzes don't like it I guess, but it shouldn't cause any damage. For example, I think the Wooly Mammoth doesn't really work at all with my 442 filter before it, probably due to input/output impedances.
