1. Reducing this to 'feeler' status at the moment... I really haven't played it enough to make a solid decision on it and I want to wait until my Xotic BB arrives before I do.
2. Both now on eBay: eBay - Diamond Compressor Pedal eBay - Guyatone TZ-2 Fuzz (faulty) And sold!
3. Just bought this recently here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=49761 Not 100% sure I want to get rid of this... It sounds great and plays brilliantly but after trying and buying various basses over the years, I\'ve come to the conclusion that I\'m a passive Fender P-Bass guy! Solid walnut body, rosewood neck (nice and chunky, smooth but not glossed finish) and ziricote (no, I\'ve never heard of this either!) fretboard. Gotoh bridge, Schaller tuners, dual Dark Star pickups (http://www.hammoneng.com) and an Audere 3ZB preamp (http://www.audereaudio.com/3ZB.htm) with 4 band EQ and a 3-way impedance control that can give either a deep woody tone or a thinner growlier sound (as well as a regular sound in the middle) at the click of a switch. It also comes with a hard case, straplocks and leather strap! After buying this I put on a fresh set of Pyramid Gold flats (awesome strings, worth £40 a set), but I can chuck a set of rounds on it if they\'re not your thing. It\'s in excellent condition bar a tiny chip/crack in the body which is barely noticeable but I will try and photograph later on (camera\'s dead at the moment!). Now reduced to £475. I\'d prefer to meet in person (I\'m in Streatham, SW London), but can post anywhere in the UK for £20. Anyone who wants to come over and try it through my Markbass combo is more than welcome! Clips! Rounds (Starts off with impedance switch on regular setting bridge pickup, then both, then neck. Then repeats in lo-Z mode for a deeper sound. EQ left flat.) Flats (Starts off with neck pickup, then both, then bridge. Very slight treble boost. More photos added:
4. Way Huge Pork Loin for sale, bought brand new a few days ago, still unscathed with all box and papers and even a couple of tin badges. I've played it to try it out, then polished it up and put it back in it's box before I scratch it and can no longer claim it as 'new'! Nothing wrong with it at all, it's just I'm on a bit of an overdrive quest at the moment and it's not quite what I'm looking for. It's a very smooth and natural sounding overdrive but I use my VT Bass for that kind of sound already so I'm after something with a bit more balls. This pedal sounds really smooth and fat, not fizzy on the top end at all like a lot of overdrives. It also has a clean blend and sounds amazing as a low gain dirty boost. It seems to be the current flavour of the month overdrive over at Talkbass and is popping up on plenty of people's pedalboards! 5. What are you looking to trade for, or if you'd sell for cash how much are you looking for?
6.
Quite impressive prices! And free postage! Not the greatest selection for bass though, and no offers for buying more than one set! Good spot BTW!
I just bought some strings from his eBay store, he replied to tell me his site has just gone up. It's a bit bare and lots of categories are empty, but who knows, you might find a bargain on there if you look around. He gave me this discount code which gives 15% off until 10pm Sunday and is open for as many people who want to use it: stringstar15 The Pyramid Flats are £40 delivered, which is expensive, but not not bad considering they would cost $72 (£43.74) + P&P to buy them direct from the manufacturer. Plus flats last years so I don't mind splashing out on em!
7. Well I don't slap. So when I try and it sounds all over the place with some major volume spikes, a compressor makes it sound much better. Of course, a well seasoned slapper with a much more refined technique than I would probably say otherwise! Also, a dual band compressor like the Multicomp should be good in theory for slap, as slapping and popping contains a lot of high frequency spikes, you can tame those whilst making the low end nice and fat.
8. Yeah, but for slap I reckon it's a necessity. Tell you what Beedster, you can check out my Diamond Comp on a 'try-before-you-buy' scheme if you like!
9. Stringstar.com is a brand new site too, seems to be the only UK stockist I can find for Pyramid Gold flats, possibly the most awesomest flats in the world.
10. If you just want a stompboxto reduce volume, check this out: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/signal-pad-427-p.asp Seems overkill though, can you not get the pedals to output unity gain by adjusting the volume knobs? Otherwise contact Chunk, there might be some internal trimpots you can adjust. I've not heard of this issue with these peedals before!
11. Which flats did you try? Give D'Addario Chrones a go if you want bright flats.
12. There's a DHA subforum on here so you could ask there and Dave will answer you himself. I know these pedals are plenty loud enough to drive a power amp with the boost switched on but I've not had one of the newer ones with the XLR output so I don't know if the XLR is as loud as the main output.
13. True. Except for the WMD Fatman, the only filter that sounds crap after a fuzz but AMAZING afterwards!
14. Some fuzzes don't like it I guess, but it shouldn't cause any damage. For example, I think the Wooly Mammoth doesn't really work at all with my 442 filter before it, probably due to input/output impedances.
15. Take my comparison with a pinch of salt because the EA and Markbass cabs are very different beasts, a lot of what I was hearing was probably mainly down to the speakers since both amps are meant to be pretty flat.
16. Now on eBay: eBay - Ibanez Zebrawood Acoustic Guitar
17. Last of the bumps before going on ebay tonight...
18. You should tell us where you live and put it in your profile!
19. Not a very fair comparison as I never tried them with the same speaker cab, but I had an iAmp 350 combo and now have a Markbass CMD121P combo (which has the LMII head built in). I found the iAmp to be sterile and somewhat lacking but the Markbass is much warmer and more musical to my ears. The iAmp does have a much more versatile EQ, but I found myself leaving it flat most of the time but using the Countour 1 switch to get rid of a bit of midrange honk. The Markbass I just leave flat and it sounds great.
20. Like I said, it might look unintuitive at first, but what you want to do is split the signal before the Brown Dog input and send that to the 00Funk envelope. A jack splitter on the Brown Dog input might look wrong, but remember at the end of the day they are just electrical connections and it makes no difference whether you split the signal a few inches before the input or directly at the input. It's not like the jack splitter only allows signal to flow in one direction. Here's a pic! You can use the splitter earlier in the chain if you have other pedals before the Brown Dog, in which case put the splitter on the input of the first pedal in your chain. Also, if you have a tuner with dual outputs (eg Boss TU-2, Ibanez LU-20) you can use that as your signal splitter which looks much neater.
21. Hey, my instructions were good!!! Think about it - It doesn't matter if you put the splitter on the output of the pedal before, or on the input of the Brown Dog. It makes no difference whatsoever, you are still splitting the signal at the same point. It might look funny but it will work. Make sure you use a mono splitter like the one pictured and not one that's a stereo jack plug to 2 mono sockets though.
22. I heard Hosa have now discontinued those so buy em up while you still can! I personally use the EBS connectors when I can, and George Ls if I need something a bit longer:
23. All you need to do is split your signal before the brown dog and pump that clean bass signal into the envelope input of the 00Funk. Job done. This is what the Brown Dog's envelope out is anyway, only difference is this connection is broken when the pedal is bypassed. Get one of these: Plug it into the Brown Dog input. Put your bass in one of the sockets, and a patch cable to in the other going to the 00Funk envelope input. Ta-Da! I did this with a Wooly Mammoth and WMD Fatman filter (which has an envelope input) with great results. Alternatively you can re-wire the Brown Dog envelope output to be always directly connected to the input socket instead of going via the footswitch.
24. Well it says 16th June for the POG2 - which is next week.
25. First time details have ever been revealed about these pedals and it's from a UK dealer?! Anyway: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/new-products-65-c.asp
