  1. Just found those, they do indeed look quite similar! One review saying they sounded better than the Beyers, but a few more that that saying they sound totally different and not as good. https://www.thomann.de/gb/superlux_hd660.htm
  2. I think the newer ones no longer have the Ac Bs Pre, but they do have a dedicated HPF that might be good enough to use one instance of instead of two!

You can set it to true bypass or buffered bypass. True bypass wires the output jack directly to the input jack in bypass mode, buffered sends it through a transistor. A lot of pros and cons to both approaches, but generally it's good to have at least one always on buffer in your chain as it changes the impedance which reduces the signal/treble loss you get over long cable runs. Some badly designed buffers colour the sound though so many prefer true bypass.

Lol, the BSF went straight back to the shop after 5 minutes, but the Mojomojo is on my board!

The Ampeg Scrambler is similar to the BSF, but better to my ears.
  6. I'm not a fan of those noiseless pickups, they sounded a bit dark and lifeless next to the more traditional ones in the American Professional. I'd recommend getting to a shop to try some out!
  7. Strings Direct sell official Fender necks and tuners, at least they did last time I looked.

  9. NYXL are nickel btw, just mentioning as you were choosing between NYXL and some other stainless steel sets.
  10. It's to make sure you have enough room behind the saddle when you intonate it, since the B saddle ends up positioned the furthest back. Bit of a crap design if you ask me, they should just reposition or enlarge the bridge so that it doesn't look wonky!
  11. https://www.andertons.co.uk/fender-limited-edition-light-ash-american-professional-jazz-bass-sienna-sunburst-rw-0179302747 Weighs around 7lb and sounds very lively indeed! Plus I've always wanted one in this colour with a tort guard....
  12. I sanded one, smothered with tea and left it in the garden for a few weeks. Seemed to do the trick! Still need to finish the rest of the bass though!

    What to do...

Cut your losses, then incur more losses as you try out numerous units as replacements, only to buy another Helix. 😁

    What to do...

Have you tried any other preamp pedals with the FRFR setup? You could easily swap it out for a simpler unit, might sound better, might sound worse depending on the gear and your ears! Personally I've not sprung for the Helix because I don't use a lot of effects, and the few I do use sound better than what the Helix provides.
  15. That's a shame, they could just as easily made it work like a sidechain then it would have been compatible with every other fuzz/filter out there. I'm sure I had a filter once that had an envelope input but I can't remember which one it was! You could either split your signal pre-fuzz and send it to the envelope in, or even send a drum machine to it. WMD Fatman perhaps?
  16. Not sure what's going on with your DAW then, perhaps installing the LAME MP3 encoder might help. Can your DAW encode to 24-bit/48khz FLAC at all? If you save the FLAC direct to WAV, it will probably still be 96khz, hence why the Sonos will still have trouble with it. You DAW should be able to downsample to 48khz though, then I would still recommend FLAC over WAV has it saves a lot of space with no affect on quality. For most, using a DAW for this would be overkill, but if you already have one you may as well try and get it working! I have a copy of dBPowerAmp that I use for ripping CDs and converting to FLAC, but it's not free. MusicBee is my favourite music player app and that supports ripping and conversion, perhaps give that a shot?
  17. It's a pretty legendary filter for sure. That link socket though is only supposed to work in conjunction with the Brown Dog fuzz... It depends on whether the link output from the Brown Dog is a CV signal (i.e. DC voltage) or just a dry output signal splitter. If the latter, than you could utilise that link input on the 00Funk just by using any standard signal splitter before any fuzz. The schematics are floating about if anyone can be bothered to find out for sure!
  18. Low pass for sure, band pass is more for guitar.
  19. Another famous band playing BBs now, Stereophonics: https://youtu.be/v7OYywdLOVM
  20. What's the reason for wanting a neck through, @Al Krow? Sure, they look pretty sleek and feel nice in the hand, but then again I've heard many top players say they prefer the increased punch/attack you get from a bolt on neck. Personally I'd go for that over increased sustain any day. Sustain is great when you're playing a guitar solo, but to me bass is quite a percussive instrument, and I doubt many drummers seek increased sustain from their kick drums!
  21. BB5000 - hard to find though!
  22. A lovely BB3000 for sale here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/219406111488370/permalink/2093180760777553/
  23. It's hard to put a price on something that doesn't come up for sale very often, what would you say it's worth? American Vintage models from the last 10 years or so can go for £1200ish. This one is in the same bracket but 20 years older, so semi-vintage, rarer and seemingly mint condition.
  24. I'd say wireless was a no-no. They're mostly only designed for music playback so low latency isn't a priority, opting to build in a buffer to help prevent any signal dropouts, which results in a delay between what you play and what you hear!
  25. I knew of this problem and it had been turning me off of getting one from this range, so nice to know there is a workaround and thought it worth sharing (post originally from Talkbass):
