  1. Awesome little envelope filter, hardly used and in great condition including box. £90 posted
  2. I don't know much about the builder for this one... but it's a Fuzz Face style fuzz tweaked for bass with EQ, blend, gate and adjustable impedance for matching with active or passive basses. Manual attached! £70 posted
  3. Built by John Kallas from Talkbass. High gain distortion with a variable crossover to keep your lows clean and intact. More details here: https://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/mini-XO.html Some sound clips of its bigger brother pedal here: https://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/XO-Crossover-Bass-Distortion.html https://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/XOII-Crossover-Bass-Distortion.html £120 posted
  4. Dual purpose bass wah / expression pedal. Great bass wah, and I've had a fair few of them! I just prefer envelope filters so this rarely comes out of its box. Mint condition. £80 posted
  5. Awesome fuzz pedal, very tweakable and can get everything from light overdrive to heavy fuzz. ACNR control can introduce a gated effect, and there's a switchable octave up (note that it's not a proper octaver, more of an octavia like octave up fuzz). Lots of internal dip switches for tweaking the LPF on the clean channel, the HPF going into the fuzz, and another LPF for the octave up. Probably the most solidly built pedal I've owned, mint condition. £160 posted
  6. My favourite from the Q-Tron range, it has that slightly dirty quack that reminds me of the old Mutrons... they were designed by the same guy after all! It has a non standard DC input so you'll need an adapter either to that jack or to the battery clip if you don't want to use a battery... battery door is intact. No original box though. £60 posted
  7. 3 different sounds - vintage, modern and rotary speaker effect, plus built in overdrive. You can also hold the button down to change the speed between fast and slow. A bit of low end loss with the vintage/rotary modes but still works well for copping Led Zep's Heartbreaker! No loss of low end in modern mode though, which is my favourite setting. Mint condition with box and rubber knob protector! £75 posted
  8. Still got mine! The separate clean lows have a big advantage over the VTDI for heavier tones... Although I'm keeping both (as well as the Leeds and DP3X!), can't bring myself to sell any of them!
  9. This is one of the older models when they outsourced production to 3Leaf Audio for a spell in the USA before moving back to Finland. I hunted down one of these specifically because the Attack switch has 2 levels of boost instead of 1... I also kept this over the v2 as it sounded better to my ears! £110 posted
  10. Aguilar Octamizer in good condition, £100 posted
  11. Aguilar Agro bass overdrive, excellent condition and original box. £100 posted

Diabolik as mentioned has been my favourite synthy fuzz of all time. I didn't like the You're Doom at all by itself, although it did sound good in combo with octave and/or filter. Darkglass Duality is another one to look into!
  13. The short scale ones are pretty light - however I hear the Sterling By Music Man range can vary quite a bit as they use different body woods for different colours, the white ones using mahogany and being a bit lighter for instance (but don’t quote me on that!).
  14. Ordered some Status 40-100 flats; £22 posted and never seen a bad review. I thought they’d stopped making the half rounds, they have for long scale but they still have the shorties! I have some of them on a 34” fretless. Defretting this shorty Stingray has crossed my mind!
  15. Had it for a couple of days now, initial thoughts: The neck and fingerboard feel dry as a bone. I wonder what my best options are for a smooth oiled finish without too much effort! Decent amount of tone differences from the 3 way switch, all useable. Surprised how good the single coil sounds when played agressively. Favourite is definitely series mode though, which sounds closest to my Sandberg Basic (also series I believe). The push/push volume knob has a preset cut/boost which is just the right amount for equalising the volume boost you get from serial mode, so you can easily use multiple modes on the gig. This thing needs some flats. I’m used to TIs but the shortest they make is 32” medium scale. Risk an expensive experiment, go with some cheap Status Hotwires, or splash out on some Chromes / LaBella / Pyramids? What happened to D’Addario prices, they used to be cheap compared to other flats now they’re some of the most expensive going?! Getting rid of the Sandberg Basic was a silly idea, it’s the best sounding bass I’ve ever played!
  16. No danger of hitting the guitarist in the face on that stage!
  17. That’s on my short list, but was struggling to find one in stock for a good price anywhere!
  18. I have a Sterling by Music Man short scale Stingray inbound to try out… was also interested in the G&L Tribute Fallout. My first 30” scale bass but I love playing my 21” scale Kala so much I’m sure I’ll get on with it and there may be a 34” scale Sandberg Basic going up for sale in the fallout (pun intended).
  19. BB for fingerstyle, with the Ray a close 2nd. Jazz for slap (BB sounds bad there!).
  20. The real thing is much better than the sim, but I expect you’d find a similar result. It doesn’t have much headroom with high output basses, and there’s no blend of course. I was almost set to sell mine until I discovered how good it sounded with a Kala U-Bass!
  21. Great little basses, I had the fretted 23 as well as a Kala U-Bass a long time ago, and recently picked up another fretted Kala. Things to note: - The fretted models do not intonate very well, notes are visibly flat on the built in tuner on the 5th fret (and maybe lower than that). - Fretless models don’t have this problem, but you need a good ear and to be to hear yourself clearly. There isn’t as much margin for error in finger placement as there is with a full scale bass! I’ve never tried a fretless one of these but have been looking at either the Aklot fretless U-Basses going cheap on eBay, or the Gold Tone 23/25”! - Most find the stock white Aquila Thundergut strings to be quite sticky (some claim not to have this issue though, depends how oily your fingers are I guess). Applying lube or talc helps but is messy. Road Toad Pahoehoe strings do not have this problem, but on the other hand they need constant retuning as they’re very stretchy. - The acoustic versions are plenty loud enough for solo unplugged practice, making it the perfect sofa bass! On the other hand they are prone to feedback if playing at high volume. You can buy covers for the sound hole to suppress this. Best vid I could find of the fretless in action:
  22. I guess it depends on the gear being combined with the pedals, as both the BDPG and Mastotron were instant nopes for me! The Diabolik is the best high gain synthy fuzz I've tried.
  23. Not out of the question, but a smaller lighter body would be preferable at the same time.
  24. I did look up ACG, Chowny and Marusczcyk, but didn't see anything on offer similar to the Mouse. I was really after more of a mini upright bass sound, semi hollow + piezo. Basically my Godin A4 but smaller! I will follow that build thread to see where it goes!
