Way Huge Pork n Pickle dual drive/fuzz pedal....any info?
dannybuoy replied to Thunderpaws's topic in Effects
If would expect 'first bass specific pedal' means 'we took the two guitar pedals we make that bassists really like and shoved them into one pedal' rather than 'we scoured forums for a handful of negative posts and tweaked these circuits to be even more bass friendly to fix their issues'... but you never know!- 57 replies

Once you get the Orange Al, then get a Sandberg Basic with the single MM pickup (there's a very nice used example currently at Bass Direct) and whack some TI flats on it. Such a great sound. Sell some of those crazy pedals you've acquired and that should more than cover it! Anyway it appears this thread has been hijacked, back to BBs from now on!

Do some reading on passive EQ stacks Al! There are tons of amps with the same setup. Hartke LH500 and Fender Bassman for a start, I think the Mesa 400 pairs a passive cut-only mid EQ along with a more modern cut/boost bass/treble as well. There's no 'neutering' involved, it's just that the bass/treble is boost only and the mid is cut only - so you aren't boosting the mids at all with the knob up full. I'm sure one of your band plays oldies... the Orange Terror is the best thing I've tried for classic RnB/Motown/Funk with a passive bass plugged straight in. Just a slight bit of valve drive, no pedals needed, more heft than you can shake a stick at. Go on, buy one and see!

Look into an app called AudioShare. I don't know it that well but I downloaded it ages ago and it helps to share audio files between apps or to and from cloud storage!

I think it sounds great through a fat warm amp as well as a hi-fi one, I reckon an active hifi bass + hifi amp can often be too bright/sterile sounding. I've used mine with an Orange Terror Bass for a long time but always had to use an extra drive pedal to liven it up a bit. My most recent band outing though I've been converted to the more hifi nature of the M900 as I needed a bit more top end zing. However I have since been a convert to using the Orange using it's 'flat' settings as a starting point (bass and treble all the way off, mids all the way up) and it sounds a lot better, in case you tried one before Al with the knobs set to noon (as most people would)!

Power supply for Two Notes Le Bass, plus many others

I wouldn’t trust specs from a retailer, here’s something from the Truetone site:- 11 replies

Power supply for Two Notes Le Bass, plus many others

800mA? The CS12 can dish out 3000mA total. I just remembered I emailed their support when considering a CS7 and this is what they had to say: "We have had good responses from customers about the CS7 powering the Le Bass. The Le Bass actually draws between 330 and 460mA depending on what channel is being used. The only thing that is a little tricky is that it has a start up peak of about 800mA. This is more current than the 12V out can provide consistently but it only draws that for a few milliseconds. This may cause the CS7 or CS12 to flash or stutter for a second but then once the peak settles down it should work perfectly. In theory, it’s possible that this start up peak could put the 1 SPOT Pro into thermal protection and shut down but that has not happened with the Le Bass, that we know of. We have been in touch with Two Notes about these and are sending them a power supply to test with their products. So far, we haven’t heard of any issues."- 11 replies

Have you even tried it with the CS12? VisualSound, the manufacturer of the 1 Spot Pro, say each socket is capable of delivering far more than the labels suggest and that you can ignore the labels on the individual outputs as long as you don't exceed the total for the entire brick.- 11 replies

Bought a Grizzly pedal from @Jackemmings, good comms and arrived swiftly. Was wrapped in 3 or 4 distinct individually taped layers of wrapping that made me feel like I was winning a game of pass the parcel when I opened it, which instilled a sense of childhood joy. Recommended.

That's pretty reasonable actually, was expecting it to be more. Now the question is how does this compare to the Geddy pre? I guess one could always rent both and find out

There's a fretless Aquila Shortbass One in the classifieds for £200. Larger than a U-Bass but also therefore louder and easier to play!
-
The HX doesn’t have any amp sims in it though, but it might be able to be an alternative if it has models of Sansamp stompboxes and the ability to run parallel chains... will look it up.

I think you've totally misundertood my post due to a typo! I'll fix... 95% of my playing at home is through a PJB Bighead. But most of the time I am playing along to an mp3, backing track or drum loop etc. I practice solo as well of course, but being able to play against something is so important that any headphone amp without an aux in is officially useless since you'll just have to buy an extra headphone amp anyway!
-
They've been around for a while, but I haven't been blown over by any of the demos enough to make me want to take the plunge!
-
The P+J setting played agressively with lots of bends and slides etc to get the growl going sounds great into the M900!
-
Headphone out without an aux in isn't much use though unless you are a solo bassist!
-
I'll get mine from the US if the price is too high over here. Either by finding a dealer on eBay willing to ship to the UK, or just going with the cheapest and using a parcel forwarding service.

And one recorded direct instead of from a camera phone!
-
The bridge, case, headstock logo and neck plate all look correct. The uneven bits elsewhere could just mean it was a Friday afternoon job down the factory!
-
The NG3 already has the same preamp, I think the only difference is the colour and scratchplate!
-
Nice one. Those gig bags are standard by the way and they are very nice (even though they could do with being about 1cm longer inside!).
-
Exactly, and a cab sim is superb at doing just that! Just think of it as a unique EQ purposely designed for what you are trying to achieve. You can only go so far with for example a Big Muff tone control or preamp/EQ - e.g. most preamps don't feature LPF/HPF controls, just bass/treble shelving, which sounds quite different. All I'm saying is don't write it off it you haven't tried one!
