If you think you might ever need it to play out in future, keep it and use it. It takes up less space than having your rig plus a little practice amp next to it. I use a big amp at home too, it has a volume knob after all! If you don't foresee yourself ever using it to its full potential, you could chop it in for a PJB Cub or Double Four and reclaim a bit of floor space if you feel the need!

Plus the Two Notes Le Bass, Aguilar Tonehammer and Tech21 VTDI!

If you really want decent synth sounds for covers, a MIDI pickup would be the way to go. Then you have the whole world of synth modules open to you, or even running software synths from an iPad, all with flawless tracking. I have a Godin A4 Ultra fretless that has one built in but I've never tried it!

Don't know if it's analog Al, many of his pedals are digital.

I can't remember which shop (definitely not Wunjos) but a few years ago one of the guitar shops in Denmark Street had dozens of Schecter basses in their basement. In fact their bass range was probably 90% Schecter! Worth a look anyhow!

Depends if you need it to fit under a PT Nano or Metro? If you do there's not much out there that will fit without modding the board.

Re the Octabvre Mini - for me it’s all about the soloed octave sound with this pedal. However it’s very sensitive to what you plug into it. Some basses can sound quite flat and uninteresting, very bass heavy but not much character - but a passive P Bass sounds amazing.

I don't think Broughton pedals come with manuals yet. It just started with one guy doing a few builds for guys on Talkbass, he's only just got himself a website, manuals are probably on the to-do list! PM AzureSkies over there if you want one!

For some reason it sent my Diamond Compressor up the wall in terms of noise just by placing it anywhere on the pedaltrain. Take it off and place in the floor, no noise. Very weird indeed. I noticed a tiny amount of hum from a TC Corona but only when placed directly on top, but you had to t listen for it with headphones to pick it out. My signal chain is virtually silent right now. From bass, through the board, M900 amp to PJB Bighead, not an ounce of hiss or hum since I ditched the EBS flat patch cables!

Sounds better then the full size version from the demo at least, and I recall SGFX confirming that the circuit was rather different and more than simply a cut down version of its bigger brother.

It's the best filter I've played in terms of expressiveness (if that's a word), you can really get it to talk and it makes you pull those bass faces like someone next to you just farted. The only thing I don't like about it is the sweep doesn't start very low down in the bass range, more like the low mids. If you've played a standard Mini QTron or Mutron on the hi setting you'll know what I mean. The JoshWah is currently on the board instead as I found it to stand out in the mix more than the Emma, and I can get the sweep to start lower down due to the frequency control.

Not the cheapest option, but you could always buy it a ticket and treat it to a seat next to you if you don't fancy standing and nursing it over the entire journey!

The BMS doesn't technically have an envelope filter if I recall correctly... rather than the filter following the amplitude (or envelope) of the signal, it fires off a filter sweep at a configurable speed as soon as your signal hits a threshold. This means every sweep of the filter sounds the same - you don't have as much subtle control as an envelope filter, although for some synth sounds of course it's perfect!

Thunderbird or Maruszczyk necks? Maruszczyk should be able to make the neck to whatever specs you like!

Haussel humbuckers as standard but they will use any pickups you like. No idea how close they are to the Lollar / Lull / Thunderbucker pickups, but I’m sure you could specify those for an upcharge. I’d like to see a 5er in emerald green!

If you flip the right hand side of the strap over the front of the bass instead of behind it, not only does it cure the neck dive 100%, it also stops the fretboard tilting away from you. I have never had a bass feel more comfy on a strap than a T-Bird with this little trick, give it a try sometime if you haven't!

I would just use your amp then unless it has noise or low volume issues. I've never been satisfied with the built in headphone amp on the amps I've owned, but my PJB Bighead puts out way more volume yet is totally noise free. Add to that the fact it's battery powered and can be used as a USB audio interface for recording or jamming along via the USB connection.
