All my PMs get forwarded to my email address, and pretty sure it did that by default, so you should still have a copy unless you’re the type to keep your inbox clean and tidy (not me, over 30000 unread mails in mine)!
-
Surely it must change something? Perhaps it puts special escape characters around the tags or something? Anyway, it must keep track of which posts have been fixed somewhere, and if it’s not the DB....?!
-
Same goes for converting the IMG tags from the old format so that they still show up. We massively appreciate the hard work that’s been put in, but if there were obstacles that couldn’t be overcome, I’m sure there would’ve been people able to help if the community was asked. I’ve had to stare at database tables to reverse engineer and migrate stuff before... it’s not my area of expertise though so wouldn’t be the most efficient at it!
-
In that case it should be possible to fix all those broken posts! Far better to try and automate a fix rather than expect people to update individual posts? There’s a wealth of content on here that is now a lot harder to view. Same goes for migrating PMs from the old database. If there’s nobody on the team with the know how perhaps there’s a member out there willing to help? I might be able to get it done but I’d struggle as I don’t work with SQL regularly!
-
So it appears that linking to external images with IMG tags is no longer supported whatsoever and the only option is to upload them? Seems strange that such a feature would no longer be available.
-
I’ve not fully explored the new site yet, but I checked the pinned ‘post your pedalboard’ thread in the effects forum, and not only have the last month’s worth of posts gone missing, but all the image links are now broken. I guess the new forum software uses a different format for image tags, but that’s a lot of old content affected that should be possible to fix with a bit of scripting!

I picked one up two days ago to compare to my BB1025X! A bit lighter, neck is slightly chunkier. Sounds great but still prefer my BB. Gibson EB-5 is on my to-try list as I really like the tone of my Epi Classic Pro Thunderbird but want a brighter tone and a fifth string!

[quote name='NancyJohnson' timestamp='1510139203' post='3404193'] Ack. At least it hasn't got two big bites out of it. I'd never buy one, mind. [Edit] If (as indicated on an earlier reply), he's offering these in custom colours too, then credit to him, because Gibson certainly missed the boat there. He needs to build them with long-stem cloverleaf machines as well. That said, I'd never buy one, mind. [/quote] They do build a few basses for general sale through their site and dealers, but I'd say that most of their basses are custom orders. If you wanted it in pink with double P pickups and gold lollipop tuners, I'm sure anything could be done!

I've got my eye on the 2018 satin black version of the EB5. I really like the tone of them from the demos I've heard, very Thunderbird-ish but with a bit more clarity, which is just what I'm on the lookout for!

No nails, heavy fingerstyle (although I bust a pick out on occasion), high output passive basses, no tweeters!

[quote name='Al Krow' timestamp='1510087821' post='3403948'] Agreed. Ok a complete newbie Q but couldn't you connect e.g. your computer or drum machine via the Midi in (which the Two Notes does have) and won't that you get you at least 60% of the way there? If you got a Zoom B3n to go before or or Boss RC-30 after your 2Notes, well your aux-in problems would be completely solved with either of these very useful pedals [/quote] Nope. MIDI can transmit tempo, notes on and off and other controller values, but no actual audio. The Le Bass responds to MIDI just for channel switching I expect. A headphone amp without aux in isn’t much use to me, but the PJB Bighead solves that for me!

[quote name='krispn' timestamp='1510065026' post='3403667'] I think less high end could be correct but with the Low control it has heaps of bass. Not sure if you’ve tried one yet but trust me it’s got some bottom! [/quote] I've had one and A/B'd it with the Blueberry. It has good low end retention but the Blueberry goes noticeably deeper, maybe even boosting lows. It just didn't have the same mojo as it's Blueberry brethren though for me.
-
Not at all, it is similar to the Blueberry but with less low and high end, and generally not as good!

Get a fretless Stingray or Ray34 for that Paul Young / Pino vibe. Or the semi acoustic Godin A4 Utra, I love mine... There's one for sale on here but unfortunately it's the older one without the additional magnetic pickup which makes a huge difference.
-
If you think you might ever need it to play out in future, keep it and use it. It takes up less space than having your rig plus a little practice amp next to it. I use a big amp at home too, it has a volume knob after all! If you don't foresee yourself ever using it to its full potential, you could chop it in for a PJB Cub or Double Four and reclaim a bit of floor space if you feel the need!
-
Plus the Two Notes Le Bass, Aguilar Tonehammer and Tech21 VTDI!
-
If you really want decent synth sounds for covers, a MIDI pickup would be the way to go. Then you have the whole world of synth modules open to you, or even running software synths from an iPad, all with flawless tracking. I have a Godin A4 Ultra fretless that has one built in but I've never tried it!

Don't know if it's analog Al, many of his pedals are digital.

I can't remember which shop (definitely not Wunjos) but a few years ago one of the guitar shops in Denmark Street had dozens of Schecter basses in their basement. In fact their bass range was probably 90% Schecter! Worth a look anyhow!

You can get a decent gig bag for under £100, and if you want a handmade leather one, you can get one from Maruszczyk for half the amount Warwick seem to be asking: http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Other_gig_bags.html

Depends if you need it to fit under a PT Nano or Metro? If you do there's not much out there that will fit without modding the board.

Re the Octabvre Mini - for me it’s all about the soloed octave sound with this pedal. However it’s very sensitive to what you plug into it. Some basses can sound quite flat and uninteresting, very bass heavy but not much character - but a passive P Bass sounds amazing.
-
I don't think Broughton pedals come with manuals yet. It just started with one guy doing a few builds for guys on Talkbass, he's only just got himself a website, manuals are probably on the to-do list! PM AzureSkies over there if you want one!

For some reason it sent my Diamond Compressor up the wall in terms of noise just by placing it anywhere on the pedaltrain. Take it off and place in the floor, no noise. Very weird indeed. I noticed a tiny amount of hum from a TC Corona but only when placed directly on top, but you had to t listen for it with headphones to pick it out. My signal chain is virtually silent right now. From bass, through the board, M900 amp to PJB Bighead, not an ounce of hiss or hum since I ditched the EBS flat patch cables!
