1.
I recently bought a Solid Gold FX Funk Lite. It's really really good! Very quacky. It was either that or the Fwonk Beta but the demo for the Funk Lite sold it for me. Lots of easy to dial in funky tones. Highly recommended.
Keep forgetting about that one. Sounds better then the full size version from the demo at least, and I recall SGFX confirming that the circuit was rather different and more than simply a cut down version of its bigger brother.
2. I do it the same way you would on a fretless...?
3. It's the best filter I've played in terms of expressiveness (if that's a word), you can really get it to talk and it makes you pull those bass faces like someone next to you just farted. The only thing I don't like about it is the sweep doesn't start very low down in the bass range, more like the low mids. If you've played a standard Mini QTron or Mutron on the hi setting you'll know what I mean. The JoshWah is currently on the board instead as I found it to stand out in the mix more than the Emma, and I can get the sweep to start lower down due to the frequency control.
4. Not the cheapest option, but you could always buy it a ticket and treat it to a seat next to you if you don't fancy standing and nursing it over the entire journey!
5. The BMS doesn't technically have an envelope filter if I recall correctly... rather than the filter following the amplitude (or envelope) of the signal, it fires off a filter sweep at a configurable speed as soon as your signal hits a threshold. This means every sweep of the filter sounds the same - you don't have as much subtle control as an envelope filter, although for some synth sounds of course it's perfect!
6. Thunderbird or Maruszczyk necks? Maruszczyk should be able to make the neck to whatever specs you like!
7. Here’s those pickups in action: http://youtu.be/XiE16oStueM
8. Haussel humbuckers as standard but they will use any pickups you like. No idea how close they are to the Lollar / Lull / Thunderbucker pickups, but I’m sure you could specify those for an upcharge. I’d like to see a 5er in emerald green!
9. TBird sales may be hampered by the fact you can now get a custom built one for less dough from Maruszczyk! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/314392-maruszczyk-thunderbirds-phoenix/page__view__getnewpost
10. Having been lusting after a Lull T5 lately, I may well have to get one of these instead! 5 string model available too according to Facebook, just not up on their site yet. https://public-peace.de/bass-guitars/maruszczyk/phoenix/4-string https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154686279367396&id=292530792395

12. If you flip the right hand side of the strap over the front of the bass instead of behind it, not only does it cure the neck dive 100%, it also stops the fretboard tilting away from you. I have never had a bass feel more comfy on a strap than a T-Bird with this little trick, give it a try sometime if you haven't!

Robert Dyas stock that Gorilla stuff too I think if you have one of those nearby.
14. I would just use your amp then unless it has noise or low volume issues. I've never been satisfied with the built in headphone amp on the amps I've owned, but my PJB Bighead puts out way more volume yet is totally noise free. Add to that the fact it's battery powered and can be used as a USB audio interface for recording or jamming along via the USB connection.

Mine's drilled and I haven't had a problem putting pedals on top of the screws. Sourcing new feet is easy enough (old school rubber door stops from a hardware store would work) but the hard part is that they are riveted on. Not sure but you might have to drill out / destroy the existing fixing then mount the new ones with a screw or glue! Maybe double sided Gorilla Glue tape? https://www.amazon.c...g/dp/B01CIQILCC That stuff looks a little thick though, but search for double sided tape and there's plenty of options.

Double sided tape should do the trick. I'd investigate to see if there's any industrial strength stuff out there though rather than the bog standard.
17. Cool, I was thinking of pulling the trigger on an EB-5 but now they have a stealth version I am gonna wait! https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BAEB5H18BXBCd1
18. Danelectro Longhorn, as played by John Entwistle and Ian Peres of Wolfmother?
19. Flat settings on the OTB according to the measurements in the BassGearMag review are bass and treble all the way off and mids up full. That should be a good starting point if using an external pre anyway! They also measured it peaking at around 900W for the 500W model!
20. Definitely try the MXR BEF if you can. Fantastic filter for funk. Also look into the MuFX Microtron, Mr Black Fwonkbeta and Broughton JoshWah for more dirty Mutron like sounds a la Bootsy. For Octavers I'm a big believer in analog over digital. Tracking can be iffy on some notes but the response is immediate and the tone usually much fatter. I don't mind that they only do octave down since I can just play higher up and let the pedal fill out the lower octave! I'm using an EBS Octabass right now, it sounds perfect for what I need but I still want to check out the Aguilar Octamizer. There are a couple of big octaver and filter threads on here right now that are well with a read! You should also check out some funky squelchy sounding fuzzes like the Prunes & Custard and Malekko Diabolik!
21. Some nice selections there. My JoshWah had also found a place on my board now after realising my Hotone Bass Press gets a little lost in the mix. The volume control makes all the difference!
22. The subharmonic generator is essentially the same as an analog octaver. I've heard people say that sub pedals like the Meatbox are a different effect to octavers, but the technology used is the same, just that they are voiced/EQ'd differently. What I do if I want an octave up is just play an octave higher and let the pedal fill out the octave down. Sounds much better to me - instant tracking, and no fake sounding digital artifacts you get from digital octave up!
23. No but he can probably build you a Broughctave & JoshWah in the same box, or a combination with reduced features to keep the size down. Or go COG custom of course. And if you're going custom then you can get the dirt built in too! Is all this mini board business really necessary? Just sounds like an excuse to buy more pedals!
24. Try a Bass Synth Wah Al, easy to obtain cheap and easy to sell on. Great octaver and an OK filter!
25. I bought a Scrambler recently but returned it. Sounds similar to the Bass Soul Food but much better - it wasn't a bad pedal but if it doesn't improve on what's currently on my board then it goes back or goes up for sale! Another one I picked recently from here that is very similar to both of those pedals again is the COG Mini 66. Not sure if I'm going to keep it yet but I thoroughly recommend it over the other two mentioned!
