Not in my experience, there are tons of promoters doing original nights, but they usually specialise in a few genres hence the need for more info!

A link to your band page would be useful, especially if you’re after a promoter that can slot you in with bands of a similar genre!

I thought the Cali CB was about as transparent as they come! The Super Symmetry rolls off quite a bit of treble apparently, so might not be your bag either.

It most definitely does not go between the amp and cab! You would be able to make a passive one that did I expect, but I've never seen one. The only ones I'm aware of are the SFX Thumpinator, FDeck HPF, Broughton HPF, and Tech21 Q-Strip. Also the Mesa D800+ and Quilter Bassblock have variable HPFs (and plenty of other amps have a fixed one but don't advertise it, so you may not need one depending on your amp). I have a Thumpinator but it's not on the board at the moment. But after watching my cones move like they did the other day, I'm going to stick it in a bypass loop and see how much of a difference it makes!

Have you got an audio interface for recording already? If not, you might be better off with the B3 as you can record directly from the USB output, saving an additional element of digital -> analog -> digital conversion going on!

Do you want it for octave up or down? For a simple Digitech octave up with both a volume and tone control for the wet signal, they do the Mosaic pedal. Most likely the same algorithm as the Whammy/Drop/Ricochet. See if you can try one out on your travels, and if you like it, you can buy mine!

I've settled on an EBS Octabass now for the band board. Some analog octavers have a really growly midrange that just stands out too much, but this is perfect for just making higher notes sound beefier yet natural. It can track pretty much every note just fine except the low open E and B strings, fretted notes down to C# on the B string are all solid. I've tried a few digital octavers, Bass Whammy, Tender, etc, but I can feel the latency and much prefer the immediacy of analog.

I was after a modern sounding P recently and the best sounding one I found was an old 80s MIJ Fender Jazz Special PJ-555... It's actually a P bass with an extra J pickup and a Jazz neck, the pickups are very hot and also very bright sounding. Sounded very different to every other P in the shop, I just had to get it. Then on my way home I spotted a PJ-535 in The Bass Gallery for £450 - well worth a look I reckon, similar bass but with angled pickups. I’ve gone for putting mine first, but that’s with a low threshold and ratio for general smoothing, and a blend to keep my attack intact. I’m not using an envelope filter but I have tried one after the comp and it’s still perfectly playable. I think using a comp to even out volume levels from other pedals is the wrong application for a compressor. It’s a band aid that makes you ignore the fact your volume knobs just need tweaking, and you can end up with an overly squashed tone because one of your dirt pedals is set too high for example!

I never said the COG tracks worse than the 3Leaf - as I recall it was just as good. Differences could be down to bass, strings, setup and technique here! Having sample the full size 66 previously, I very much doubt the Mini 66 would be able to cop any Two Notes or Darkglass tones, nor sound particularly nice at high gain. I just want to try it out in the role of a low gain dirty boost...

Yup, clean tracking of all notes down to a low C. Although an octave below that note is more of a throbbing vibration than an actual note! Whether or not it sounds synthy depends on your definition. Tone to the left it sounds like an OC-2, which is pretty clean yet still synthy to me, tone to the right of course is more fuzzier. As far as I know the tone control blends between an OC-2 and a Mutron style voicing rather than a low pass filter that you get on the COG or Aguilar, so it can't do a clean sine-like sub.

I'll have to make a little clip later of this exceedingly good Octabvre tracking for evidence as I can't quite believe it myself... I was playing some riffs last night with the octave soloed, and as long as I avoided the open strings it did not waver whatsoever including all notes down to a low C on the B string (sorry I don't have a low F# string!).
