This is quite nice...
I have a ready cut one from WD Music exactly like that, I reckon they use the same supplier.

Do you want it for octave up or down? For a simple Digitech octave up with both a volume and tone control for the wet signal, they do the Mosaic pedal. Most likely the same algorithm as the Whammy/Drop/Ricochet. See if you can try one out on your travels, and if you like it, you can buy mine!

I've settled on an EBS Octabass now for the band board. Some analog octavers have a really growly midrange that just stands out too much, but this is perfect for just making higher notes sound beefier yet natural. It can track pretty much every note just fine except the low open E and B strings, fretted notes down to C# on the B string are all solid. I've tried a few digital octavers, Bass Whammy, Tender, etc, but I can feel the latency and much prefer the immediacy of analog.

I was after a modern sounding P recently and the best sounding one I found was an old 80s MIJ Fender Jazz Special PJ-555... It's actually a P bass with an extra J pickup and a Jazz neck, the pickups are very hot and also very bright sounding. Sounded very different to every other P in the shop, I just had to get it. Then on my way home I spotted a PJ-535 in The Bass Gallery for £450 - well worth a look I reckon, similar bass but with angled pickups. Here's some examples: https://images.talkbass.com/attachments/ab23c7b9-26de-4115-9c23-379d093be0ab_zpsfypnvi09-png.2354544/

Trace Elliot Elf or GK MB200 - both will fit in your gig bag, or even your back pocket!

Easy enough to just store them on Soundcloud, Dropbox, Onedrive, Googledrive, Box, etc and link to them here for now. But looking forward to see what the new site offers!

I’ve gone for putting mine first, but that’s with a low threshold and ratio for general smoothing, and a blend to keep my attack intact. I’m not using an envelope filter but I have tried one after the comp and it’s still perfectly playable. I think using a comp to even out volume levels from other pedals is the wrong application for a compressor. It’s a band aid that makes you ignore the fact your volume knobs just need tweaking, and you can end up with an overly squashed tone because one of your dirt pedals is set too high for example!

If anyone would be up for lending me their Octamizer in return for borrowing something of mine, please shoot me a PM!

Love it!
The Two Notes "Clean" is an interesting one: on the surface it does seem to provide pretty limited EQ options. However it seems to me that it has been configured in a similar fashion to the original Sansamp BDDI v1 with a baked-in mid-scoop.
Rather than having a baked in mid scoop, I see it more as the Channel A EQ being boost only - both knobs off is my starting point then I roll a bit in from there!
Which version of the Octabvre do you have? I'm still waiting for bass direct to get new stock of the MKII so I can finally get one.
I have the Mini, which as far as I know is identical to the MkII flicked to Tim tuning mode.

I never said the COG tracks worse than the 3Leaf - as I recall it was just as good. Differences could be down to bass, strings, setup and technique here! Having sample the full size 66 previously, I very much doubt the Mini 66 would be able to cop any Two Notes or Darkglass tones, nor sound particularly nice at high gain. I just want to try it out in the role of a low gain dirty boost...

Yup, clean tracking of all notes down to a low C. Although an octave below that note is more of a throbbing vibration than an actual note! Whether or not it sounds synthy depends on your definition. Tone to the left it sounds like an OC-2, which is pretty clean yet still synthy to me, tone to the right of course is more fuzzier. As far as I know the tone control blends between an OC-2 and a Mutron style voicing rather than a low pass filter that you get on the COG or Aguilar, so it can't do a clean sine-like sub.

I'll have to make a little clip later of this exceedingly good Octabvre tracking for evidence as I can't quite believe it myself... I was playing some riffs last night with the octave soloed, and as long as I avoided the open strings it did not waver whatsoever including all notes down to a low C on the B string (sorry I don't have a low F# string!).

They do... it's not pictured but to be fair it doesn't say it's not included!

PSU with 18v option: T Rex Chameleon or something else?

One good thing about the CS7 is that you can pretty much ignore the mA labels on the individual outputs as long as you don't exceed the overall total for the entire supply. So if you have any hungry digital multis or tube pedals, or want to run a long daisy chain from one socket, it should be able to cope no problem. -
Get yourself a Behringer CT200. I have the CT100 and it has saved me loads of time diagnosing intermittent faults in patch cables, but the CT200 has Speakon support!

This is worth a punt at £53, it's had some good reports from other users here: http://www.dv247.com/guitars/fame-dc8-multi-power-supply-for-pedal-boards--234581 -

What board are you running? I opted for the Cioks DC5 as it’s one of the only ones that fit under a PT Nano / Metro. So if you have on of those boards then definitely look into it! My next choice, if fitting it under the board were not a concern, would have been the 1 Spot CS7. It can dish out more power and is more flexible than both the T-Rex and Cioks. -
Danny, what bass are you using to get such low tracking from your octavers??
Yamaha BB1025X is my main bass, it seems to track best with this for some reason, perhaps because the pickups are really hot with a lot of low end
-
Ha, corrected! But now immortalised thanks to your quote!
-
As I recall, for me at least the T16 tracked just as good as the 3Leaf if not better. About as good as it gets for analog anyway!
-
My Octabvre Mini tracks all the low notes amazingly well. It only glitches out on the open E or low B if held for more than a second, but is fine with fifth fret E on the low B! Tracking varies depending on which bass I'm using though, so bear that in mind - one person might get much better results out of a pedal than someone else due to different bass, strings, and technique.
