1. Nice selection. Always wondered how the Mel9 fares on bass...
2. Keep it, looks great. Tort on black is a good combo as long as it's red and not brown. Spitfire aren't the only ones making quality tort these days, the guards that WD Music sell for example are pukka.
3. Try LaBella copper, gold, or white nylons. I have a set of coppers waiting to be tried out on my Godin A4 fretless, but the Chromes that come stock sound great so I've not felt the need to yet!
4. The Cioks DC5 fits underneath also. 2x 300mA output and 3x 100mA outputs, not sure if that is sufficient, but it would be if you were planning on putting a supply under each Nano I guess! I've powered 400mA pedals from the 300mA sockets before so they are rated rather conservatively I reckon. Less overall output than the Ojai, but more flexibility with 12V and 18V options should you need those. And they make 3 way daisy chain leads so you can run multiple low-draw pedals from a single outlet. Hotrox are the only UK stockists that I know of btw!
5. Maybe with the blend at nil also... Mine's still pretty dirty with the gain all the way off! But set to the alpha side it's a great dirty amp sim when used like that.
6. Can't you just pull the silk off?
7. The Sub'n'Up is a good shout also, one of the few that do two octaves down.
8. If you are after trying to get the most realistic bass guitar sound out of a guitar with flawless tracking, I say Digitech Whammy V. Also the Whammy Ricochet as it's smaller, but I feel it has slightly more latency than its bigger brother (I have both and AB'd them recently!).
9.
I didn't find it to be wimpy. Certainly a marmite sort of sound though. Also, I much preferred it with more vintage voiced cabs.
I agree with this. I love the sound, but it doesn't work in my current band which calls for a brighter sound. But for playing blues etc with a P and flats, I have never heard a better amp.
10.
I seem to recall molan (of this parish) remarking that the TH500 used the same Class D power stage as the allegedly 900W Streamliner!
That would explain the wimpiness of the Streamliner 600 I had, it probably had the same module as the TH350!
11. Talkbass user AzureSkies has been producing his own pedals for a while now and has been gaining somewhat of a cult following. Now he finally has a site! http://broughtonaudio.bigcartel.com http://youtu.be/8P0LLCOC2-g
12. I think the new Peavey amps have some processing along similar lines but I'm not aware of anything in a pedal. The Aphex and BBE units don't quite do the same thing, i.e. adding extra harmonics above the fundamental to trick the brain into hearing low frequencies that aren't there.
13. Probably a typo and should be DC. I have the little Roland guitar cube and it takes a standard 9V supply like a regular pedal. You should be fine if that 186mA value is correct and your supply can dish out up to 250mA, but it doesn't sound like very much. A typical digital multi FX would use that alone without having to actually push a speaker as well!
14. You can probably push that DC8 a lot harder, I'm running quite a few from my DC5! Hotrox sell the 3-way daisy chain adapters for Cioks BTW.
15.
The grounding on the bass is ok.
Sounds like it might not be ok. Can you test with a multimeter to make sure all the ground points are connected from the jack to the pots and bridge?
16. Stick that DC8 under the board and you'll be able to fit a ToneHammer and an Agro in there!
17. Glock preamps usually have a passive tone control in the circuit when switched to passive mode, useful for the Motown requirements!

19. Never returned a bass to them, only pedals... But returns are free and no questions asked, even to Germany.
20. Al, if you're playing oldies you should definitely check out the TH500 and D800. The overdrive on the Tonehammer sounds a lot like the dirty bass sounds on the old Motown records. You could of course keep your Markbass and get the same result from a pedal!
21. Looks like an SR model but not sure which one, probably discontinued. Closest I could find was an SR300 but it's not identical!
22. Use gixen.com to snipe it, submitting the maximum you are willing to pay 3 seconds before the end... Or there's the eBay mobile app!
23. Ibanez TMB30 (30") or GSRM20B (28.6")? Definitely worth a trip to Bass Direct as suggested, they have the Chowny in stock as well as a bunch of Maruszczyks that you won't find anywhere else. http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Short_Scale_Bass_Guitars.html
24. If you like the PJ sound and are dead set on short scales, try out one of the newish Fender Mustang PJs! I tried one of those Jags in a shop and was very impressed with it for the price. But if you can’t get it to sound good acoustically for whatever reason, I wouldn’t bother trying to upgrade the pickups.
