1.
The Two Notes "Clean" is an interesting one: on the surface it does seem to provide pretty limited EQ options. However it seems to me that it has been configured in a similar fashion to the original Sansamp BDDI v1 with a baked-in mid-scoop.
Rather than having a baked in mid scoop, I see it more as the Channel A EQ being boost only - both knobs off is my starting point then I roll a bit in from there!
2.
Which version of the Octabvre do you have? I'm still waiting for bass direct to get new stock of the MKII so I can finally get one.
I have the Mini, which as far as I know is identical to the MkII flicked to Tim tuning mode.
3. I never said the COG tracks worse than the 3Leaf - as I recall it was just as good. Differences could be down to bass, strings, setup and technique here! Having sample the full size 66 previously, I very much doubt the Mini 66 would be able to cop any Two Notes or Darkglass tones, nor sound particularly nice at high gain. I just want to try it out in the role of a low gain dirty boost...
4. Yup, clean tracking of all notes down to a low C. Although an octave below that note is more of a throbbing vibration than an actual note! Whether or not it sounds synthy depends on your definition. Tone to the left it sounds like an OC-2, which is pretty clean yet still synthy to me, tone to the right of course is more fuzzier. As far as I know the tone control blends between an OC-2 and a Mutron style voicing rather than a low pass filter that you get on the COG or Aguilar, so it can't do a clean sine-like sub.
5. I'll have to make a little clip later of this exceedingly good Octabvre tracking for evidence as I can't quite believe it myself... I was playing some riffs last night with the octave soloed, and as long as I avoided the open strings it did not waver whatsoever including all notes down to a low C on the B string (sorry I don't have a low F# string!).
6. "A system of accelerated resistance of carburettor disconnecting the speakers" A Google translation I bet!
7. PM'd
8. They do... it's not pictured but to be fair it doesn't say it's not included!
9. One good thing about the CS7 is that you can pretty much ignore the mA labels on the individual outputs as long as you don't exceed the overall total for the entire supply. So if you have any hungry digital multis or tube pedals, or want to run a long daisy chain from one socket, it should be able to cope no problem.
10. Get yourself a Behringer CT200. I have the CT100 and it has saved me loads of time diagnosing intermittent faults in patch cables, but the CT200 has Speakon support!
11. This is worth a punt at £53, it's had some good reports from other users here: http://www.dv247.com/guitars/fame-dc8-multi-power-supply-for-pedal-boards--234581
12. What board are you running? I opted for the Cioks DC5 as it’s one of the only ones that fit under a PT Nano / Metro. So if you have on of those boards then definitely look into it! My next choice, if fitting it under the board were not a concern, would have been the 1 Spot CS7. It can dish out more power and is more flexible than both the T-Rex and Cioks.
13.
Danny, what bass are you using to get such low tracking from your octavers??
Yamaha BB1025X is my main bass, it seems to track best with this for some reason, perhaps because the pickups are really hot with a lot of low end
14. Ha, corrected! But now immortalised thanks to your quote!
15. As I recall, for me at least the T16 tracked just as good as the 3Leaf if not better. About as good as it gets for analog anyway!
16. My Octabvre Mini tracks all the low notes amazingly well. It only glitches out on the open E or low B if held for more than a second, but is fine with fifth fret E on the low B! Tracking varies depending on which bass I'm using though, so bear that in mind - one person might get much better results out of a pedal than someone else due to different bass, strings, and technique.
17.
I’ll respectfully disagree slightly with distortion working better with a Jazz than a P, depends how you EQ everything. One of the best distorted sounds out there on the planet is dUg Pinnick of Kings X and other bands like KXM. He has generally always used a Seymour Duncan APB split pick up in all of his bases, except for his 12 String.
That's not quite what I said... I said that out of the Darkglass pedals, the B7K is a better match with a J, and the VMTD a better match with a P!
18. Short answer is yes, a Jazz, or PJ, works much better with the B7K and AO than a P! The P is all about the midrange so plays better with the Vintage circuit, whereas the B7K tends to hype the bass and upper mids, fitting well with the natural EQ curve of a Jazz with both pickups on.
19. It is a great pedal. You can get sounds out of this that are impossible with other filters. It did have some downsides for me though: - Menus. I hate all pedals with menus! At least the software is very good. - It needs isolated power otherwise it's very noisy. It's also noisy when powered from USB. Silent with its own supply though! - You can hear the filter go up and down by discreet steps which can sound a bit like crackling. The pedal position is probably encoded to a range of 0-128 or similar and then sent to the processor, then the filter snaps to these values rather than implementing some kind of smoothing algorithm. That could probably be fixed in software though! Fun fact - Sonuus HQ is just a couple of miles away from me, right near where I rehearse! When I emailed to enquire about how to adust the rocker tension, he offered to do it for me if I brang it down there, top chap.
20. If you add a pedal to your cart it lets you select UK for $40 postage... If you were after the JoshWah though hold tight as I might be putting one up for sale. Getting rid of the majority of my pedals to just keep the essentials!
21. You might enjoy a Cream Pie? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/313405-ken-smith-papa-tone-factor-cream-pie-deluxe/
22. Expecting this to be pretty terrible. https://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/fieldy
23. No blend or reverse sweep on the JoshWah, and it's low pass. It sounds a lot like a Mutron III. It gets pretty clean with the gain down low, but not 100%. It has more range and is easier to dial in than the Fwonkbeta. It is a contender for sure, but 'the best' would depend on which bass your playing, what you're playing on it, your fingers, and your ears! Each shines in different situations. I've had it for several months and might let it go as I'm about to massively downsize my gear collection to clear out some clutter and focus on what I need in the band. But like I did with the MXR I'll probably change my mind several times (already sold one of those and bought it back again)!
24. On the board is just a Hotone Bass Press wah pedal. Discumbobulator, MXR and JoshWah I just like to play with at home every now and then!
