Nah, nothing to worry about there. You wont even get close to 1000w.

x2 210 traveller cabs is more than enough. I've used them on big stages with a 500w head, and only had the master around 9pm on the dial.

I agree. I genuinely dont know why or how barefaced get all the credit for lightweight cabs when markbass have been doing it for years and years. I've had a 6x10 at 32kg and currently use a 2x10 combo at 15kg, and that's built like a tank and an easy one handed lift. They sound so much richer to me as well. The amps have heft and the cabs sound like bass cabs should. The newest line look crazy light. 4x10s at 15kg !

That does look great! Is that a p body with j pickups though? It looks kinda flatter than a jazz at the bottom.

I'll find something to change on it, dont worry

Well ....... I struck lucky ....... I've been browsing for weeks, nothing turned up. Then I tried searching randomly for p instead of precision bass and found the perfect bass..... A bass centre power bass in John Deacon spec! It was in Scotland, but the kind seller even dropped it off for me on his way to a work event! This feels nice and has a wide but not too wide neck, but is quite shallow so it's easy to play. It has the optional babicz bridge - which I had on my jeff berlin bass - which are great. I've got it booked in for a dimarzio pickup fitting tomorrow, and then we are good to go!

Yeh, I've done it for a few years before. Theres just a big difference between a p and my current flea jazz. I guess I'll have to find a p with a slimmer taped neck.

That's the next thread - How do i make my legs look like an athlete's legs 😂
-
Haha, yeh, but look how miserable that jazz his making him!
-
Yeh, I love it, got offered a role in another one, so it's a for as I already know everything. I just cant see john without either the natural or black p bass.

I'm looking at going back as John Deacon again. So, its gonna be P bass all the way. I've just spent 12 months gelling with a much narrower/slimmer jazz with independent volume and tone on each pickup, and it's the best feeling, best sounding bass for my style. But if it needs a p, it needs a p I suppose

Unfortunately, yes. Youd be amazed how people react. Albeit only a small amount. It shouldnt affect anything, but it does.

Just seeing if theres any cheap way to make a jazz look like a precision? I've really bonded with my jazz, but with doing the tribute game I now need to look (from afar) like I'm playing a precision. I dont mean change pick ups etc, just the scratchplate and control cavity. If it helps, the bass body will be black.

The new SX basses are phenomenal for the money (around £220). The vintage ones are great too for the same money. Recently, I've seen a few new encores that look identical to the vintages, even down to the logo font, for around £100 used.

I took a break about 7 years ago after the last band finished. Didnt pick up a bass for about 3 years and sold all my gear. It did wonders for my life - I could concentrate on work and myself without all the hassle of being in a band. Weirdly though, and pure luck, when I decided to return I auditioned for a band and got the gig, and it's been full on again since then, and I love it.

I agree with Bunion, the flea jazz. Really is an outstanding instrument. Nothing like any other bass I've had. It's kinda old skool built, thin but substantial, looks great and the individual pick up tone and volume make it as flexible as you want. Mine is my number one bass, and I was a precision guy for 20 years plus. It's right in your budget around £700 if your lucky. Plus it's already bashed up, so no need to execssively protect.

Just noticed PMT have some big discounts on sandberg basses at the moment.

I cant use my little finger on my left hand and the finger next to it is bent towards my other fingers, so in effect I play with 2.5 fingers, damaged it in a rugby accident before I even started bass. It's nothing to put you off, you soon learn to adapt to it. If anything it helps the stretch between the other fingers. I've always played standard right handed 4 string basses.
-
Skill level is unbelievable, but as with all these bass players who fly about over 6 - 10 strings and do all sorts of playing I just cant help but think a guitar or piano is more suited to that music.

Immaculate condition Sterling by Musicman Ray 34. For those in the know these are pretty much Stingray parts, or close enough to my ears, assembled elsewhere. It sounds fantastic - check out the online videos and reviews. This is the swamp ash version which is sought after as the wood is now rare. Beautiful looks and a roasted silky smooth neck too! Preamp gives any sound possible.

I tried my 34 with the oasis band last week, amp flat, a few tiny tweaks of the eq, and it fitted lovely.
