  1. That's a great brochure! Really makes you want to read it and choose your ideal rig. Probably an art form sadly lost now with everything just plonked online.
  2. They are quite exciting brochures. They do make you want to look and read them and possibly aspire to put one on your shopping list! Every trace rig I heard in the 00s sounded great.
  3. Dont forget this isnt a 9v driven pedal. Off the top of my head it's an 18v pedal with a stepper in there somewhere.
  4. It's the Roswell pick up one. Theres a special drop down to choose that one, so hopefully itll be right.
  5. I bought one last a few weeks ago. It's absolutely superb. So punchy and clear. I'd say it's better than the pre in the abm. There are loads of wiring options and tonal adjustments. The drive is a proper drive rather than the warmer on the ABMs. Very loud, very solid pre. I got mine from pmt where it was indeed labelled the "FS origin" pedal, but it was in fact the new "originAL". £199 compared to £379. It's a big saving.
  6. Hi all, Pertyy straight forward really - does anyone know where to get a replacement scratchplate for a harley benton pb 50 bass? Cheers
  7. I had a g&l l100. That was superbly built too.
  8. The korean made spector I have is hands down the best made and assembled bass I've ever had. I'd have no problem with and bass from the cort factories etc
  9. I'm selling my Ashdown Tonepocket. Only a few months old. Only used a few times. I bought this as I wanted a portable, battery powered practice aid for when I was away on business, so I wouldnt be tethered to a plug socket etc. It's a superb piece of kit with lots of features: 1. Rechargeable power battery - so no need to worry about replacing batteries. 2. Aux input. 3. Headphone output. 4. Also jack output, so can be used as a preamp or tone shaper. 5. Eq. 6. USB out, so you can record straight to your pc. 7. Tiny (about the size of your palm) and ultra lightweight. 8. X2 charging points, so can be charged off plug wall socket or car 12v system.
  10. Ashdown have just reissued this for 2021 with an upgraded evo iv spec if that helps.
  11. Hi, with so much more parcels and packages being in the system for delivery in the current climate, I cant really look to posting / courier yet I'm afraid. Theres so many cases of mis treated items and damaged items it just isnt worth the risk at the moment.
  12. The ctm300 breaks up the more you turn the gain (not the master volume). So you can pick you ideal sound using the 2 together (gain and master). Its not really to do with the vu on the valve amps, it's just using your ears to find the sweet spot.
  13. In my opinion they are very different. I gigged the old style revision 1 mag 300 and mag 410 for years and the ABMs for a couple. The mag is more middle based to my ears, sounds good, but quite individual. The abm seems to fit nice and warm in the mix more easily. The main difference for me is in a band setting. The abm on it's own can sound quite uninspiring, but in the mix it's great. The mag (from memory) is quite nice isolated and needs more work to fit. Just be careful when choosing an ashdown - theres that many revisions and versions of the same names amp it can be very confusing. Ie the mag 300 is absolutely nothing like the 220. The abm evo 2 is nothing like the abm evo 4. Then theres mags with evo revisions! Theres also the rm range. Then rm cabs with mag revisions and straight rm cabs.....which are half the weight. It can get confusing!
  14. Thanks. Do you know what the differences would be between the gen 2 and gen 3 12" twins?
  15. Hi all, Can anyone tell me in real world terms (not just the spec on their website) the differences between the super twin, big twin and other double 12 models? Are any better than the other, deeper, harsher etc? Thanks.
  16. Mine go straight into the return socket of my amp. (my amps eq is then defeated - but check as each amp as some wont be). That way I get the tone I want. Bass - pre amp pedal - return input.
  17. I've gone the same way. Now I'm just purchasing good quality pre amp pedals and that gives flexibility to connect to whatever power stage I want - powered cab, class a/b head and cab or class d head and cab via the return loop. This way I can buy a new 'amp' at a fraction of the cost, just by buying the preamp as the power stage is the same for them all. I must say though how impressed by the pre amps I am. I have the ampeg scr di and once you get used to it is is superb! Really good sound and flexibility. I also got an ashdown original and imo it's better than the ones in all their heads. Much clearer and punchier, and the drive is a proper drive. The ABMs drive on full is similar to this on '1'. The beauty of pre amp pedals is I can just put it in my bass case and connect to anything. Either just use in ears, connect to FOH and monitor, use a house amp via return or just go inline, or take my power amp. I've a vt to come, then when I want to expand or change I'll buy some others. The mesa is on my radar. Let us all know if you go ahead.
  18. The new ABM600 evo iv in my opinion is the best 'all round' amp out there. It's not too heavy - easy one hand lift in a case. It's very powerful should you need it. The eq section is well thought out and you'll get almost any sound you're after. A little bit of valve pre warmth. Very well priced for what it is. Very easily and cheaply repairable by ashdown themselves. Loads and loads of pros use them. ------ The RM500 is a nice amp. Very very loud for a class d 500w amp. Good eq. I was very happy to use one, but I didn't find it close enough to my abm to replace it. A lot of people find them similar, but I didnt really. The abm was far more flexible and capable of a lot more. Sounded sweeter. ------- Also, the abm range has at least 4 revisions and some special editions. I found the evoiv much much clearer , more flexible and much louder than the evoii I had.
  19. Hi all, Does anyone know any uk suppliers of these pedals? If not, I may have to get from abroad which I can see being a massive hassle in the current climate.
  20. Hi Lozz, I'll take this if that's ok? I was looking at getting one this morning! PM sent. Thanks
  21. Cheers. Yeh, I think lockdown has sent me over the edge with gas! Back and forward between heavy, light, medium weight gear....all with no gigs to justify a move either way! I'd keep this in a heartbeat, but I'm sure itll sell quick.
  22. I'm selling my abm600 evo iv custom shop rack mount for not much more if you're after an abm. It's in the sales ads.
  23. Hi all, I am selling the amp I saved up all summer for... Ashdown ABM600 evo iv. In blue (very rare) rack mount version. Usually rackmounts are silver only. Built in the UK at ashdowns custom shop. Boxed in original box. Literally 2 or 3 months old. Only used twice to test in the house. Perhaps the best all round amp out there. Quality throughout. Any sound achievable. Valve drive pre. 9 band eq (3 dials 6 sliders). £475 pick up Leyland Lancashire. Grab a rare amp at a great price.
  24. Loads of stuff you could do with trace nowadays that just didnt exist when they were around. Lightweight cabs. Pre amp pedals. Larger class d amps with classic pre amp built in. Their current range just doesnt interest me at all. I had an elf which was surprisingly good, but was max on its limits in a gig situation, so not great in the real world. The pre amp transit pedal is expensive and their 8" and 10" cabs just dont do it for me. Whack together a classic pre amp, the large band eq, the UV light and an 800w class d power stage and it's a winner. Couple that with a lightweight 4x10 or 2x12 all in the black and green and its sounding good already.
