Immaculate as new Ashdown ABM600 Evo iv. Only played by 2 people. Me (at home) and Guy Pratt. Apparently the person I bought it off runs music venues in Yorkshire and Guy did a seminar where the venue got this in for him new for one night. It was unused then until I got it earlier this year. Never had chance to gig or practice, so just extremely quiet practice in the house. Built like a work of art. IMO the best all round amp out there (so much so I'm getting a rack one) it's a very easy one hand lift, loads of power (and I mean loads!). A real valve drive front end, and more easy to use eq options, which means you can sculpt any sound. Real heft that wont hurt to carry. Comes with £100 padded cover with understrap so it stays in place and front pocket for your cables. Only selling due to getting a rack mount version. These now seem to be up over £700 new.

Very difficult to find nowadays. Excellent rack mounted version of the amazing vt bass pedal - but with extra bells and whistles. Very good condition. No box, but will be well wrapped. Great classic ampeg sounds from B15 to SVT. Superb for recording and great live. Get that ampeg sound in a ridiculously light rack weight. 1U and I'd imagine 1kg at most. INs, OUTs, Jack's, xlrs, blends, mixes - whatever you need. No longer made. £200 collect Leyland, Lancashire.

I've put my G75 up for sale here. I'm going all rack, so the G90 is what I'm going to use from now on.
-
Been there. Spent years messing with pedals, emulators, fx boxes. Straight into amp sounded much better. I was over complicating everything. Same with eq on the amp. Just set it flat and only make adjustments when absolutely necessary.

Yeh, I was set on keeping it. But my main job is in events and they're not even close to happening (they wont even allow companies in to decorate in any way) and with only 30 people allowed, and venues been closed at a moment's notice, all our events have literally either cancelled or moved to next year. So, common sense (which I dont normally have much of) is that i need to offload this. Grab yourself a bargain. Any questions, just ask.

Looks fantastic.

Up for good this time - pretty much confirmed unexpectedly this week that I wont be working until next year at the earliest, so this has to go. This is Ashdown Engineering's ultimate top of the range custom shop bass amp. With a tinge of sadness my dream all valve beast is up for sale. It's never been gigged or driven hard (or even half hard) at all. Just used for one or two practices. Now no longer in the band i bought this for. Bought from PMT earlier this year, to satisfy my 70s rock itch in a low key band. However, a change of direction nowmeans I simply wont need it. It's too nice to be sat here, so I want someone to enjoy it. Its 300w ofbeastlyness! Beautiful, unmistakable valve sound that you cant replicate (weve all tried). It has everything you need input and output wise and a pre and post highquality DI. It has a user bias control which is very easy to do. You dont need to take to a tech. The VU meter lights a lovely yellow and in contrast to the usual Ashdown VU this is for OUTPUT, not input (had me confused for a while). Active and Passive inputs. Mute button. Gain, Master, Bass, Mid, Treble dials and Mellow, Bass, Mid, Treble buttons to punch in easily. 2ohm, 4ohm and 8ohm separate speakon connectors, so you can run with any cab or combination of cabs - unlike the old valve heads. FX send and returns. Built so well and solidly. Built to last. Ashdown will service and repair these anytime - so customer service is always available. They're always at the end of the phone, and brilliant to deal with. 32kg but easy to move due to the top handles. The weight is evenly distributed, it's not like those dead weights of metal power amps you get. This is nice and balanced and doesnt feel that heavy. The custom made faux leather and padded cover also has an under strap to stop the cover coming away. However due to the design you can put your amp on the cab with the cover on, un velcro the cover and take it off without moving the amp. And vice versa when putting back on. Notes: There are a few minor scratches. You dont see them from a couple of feet away, but I'll photo them so you can see. I've had a few phone calls with Dave Green at Ashdown - the maestro who designed this amp - about biasing etc and he has said that it doesnt really matter on this amp. You can balance the valves if you like, but as long as they're not in the red they are running perfect. He said until the valves have done at least 100 hours they are not even run in. This has done nowhere near that yet. Note: its the head only for sale. Not the cab. These arearound 2000 new and 100 a cover. Save a fortune. Brilliant piece of kit. In great condition. Never missed a beat for me. In all kinds of venues. Selects the best channel for you after a scan, so no need to worry. Nice and compact. This does not come with a clip. The original clips arr useless so I removed it and used a levys pouch. You can buy them for around £15. Comes boxed, with spare psu and even the plastic caps for the transmitter. Only selling due to getting the rack version. Grab a bargain.

Superb lightweight 2.5kg head. Drive (valve emulator) compression and sub harmonised. Bass, mid, treble, hi mid and low mid. 500w (very loud) watts. Separate aux in. Headphone out. The only thing to mention is that when using the headphones, the aux is fine, but the bass has a little fuzz to it. You cant hear it in the mix, but you can on it's own. It has no impact when playing through a speaker. Used but good condition. Grab a great amp!

Hi all, Does anyone know what to look for when selecting the signal channel on the line 6 G90. On the G75 it actually physically showed you - ie CH3. On the G90 it just shows 14 channels and how strong the signal is - however some channels have 2 bars side by side, and some just one - so which is stronger? Any help appreciated.

Ahh, apparently the roof of the rack can block the receiver - bit if it's working fine I'd leave it! Probably line6 just covering their back in case of drop outs.

Do all class D heads really lose their thud at volume?
la bam replied to alexa3020's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yes, sorry, when I say class a/b I'm actually meaning solid state type amps. Or the traditional amps inbetweeners class d and full valve. -

I get what you are saying, and see the benefits for everyone, and have played that way myself, but in my opinion, for the music I play (rock, indie etc) having a fantastic backline sound really brings out the best in a rhythm section, and ultimately a band. Theres just something real about it. It's hard to raise your game with a quiet, small stage sound from a 1x10 cab. It's not just us as bassists, drummers feed off us too. The slam of a big amp and cab brings things to life. Just my experience though. It's all good. -

I suppose the best way to find out the answer is to ask - if class d, a/b and valve were all the same size and weight which one would you use? Thatd take out all other form factors and just concentrate on feel and sound for the OP question. -

For me (and I have a class d, class a/b and valve here) I find that if you're the note being played..... 1. Class D. is like opening a door and walking through it to the road. Nice, clear and steady. No problems. 2. Class A/B. is like opening a door a running through it to the road. A bit more exciting and more air being pushed through. More energetic. 3. Valve. Is like opening a door a 3 wrestlers throwing you onto the street and the end of the road. Much more exciting and more air pushed than both others, and more area covered rather than just a straight linear line. All have their purposes, you get to the road. But the feel and journey getting there is completely different. I supposed it just matters if you, or anyone else cares how you get there. **** I think that's why no one has ever emulated a big heavy valve amp in a small package properly - no one can give a good description of what to emulate! - certainly not me! -
Brilliant units. Just such a shame that you cant rackmount them, as the receiver is on the top of the box. That's the only reason I bought the G90.

The line 6 G75 is astonishing value at £160. Never let me down. Never a drop out. Ever. Nice and compact. Easy to use. I've just got a G90 (rrp around £450) and I'm not convinced it's as good.

The one thing with big heavy blocks of valve amps is that they are fine to carry in an empty space, in a straight line, from A to B. The damage (to yourself) comes when it's the awkward carry. The twist to get it up and out of the car. The shuffling in through small doorways. The getting past people who wont move. The having to carry the amp and open the door at the same time. The double doors where only one is unlocked and you have to tilt to fit through. Smokers on the door. Band members who leave gear everywhere. Band members helping who dont lift it right when helping, putting even more strain on you. Climbing steps. If you are going to use one, do everything you can to eliminate these. Get a hand truck. Work out how to stack. If not, if people are in the way shout at them politely to move. Dont stop moving. Stopping, twisting, moving out of their way will injure you.

Sometimes I've been skint so I've had to sell things I never wanted to sell, sometimes I've been doing well and sold stuff to buy better stuff. Sometimes I've sold loads of stuff to buy one thing. Sometimes I've sold one thing to buy loads of stuff. Sometimes as to copy the original bassist if I'm in a tribute. Boredom. The thrill of getting new equipment (but without paying for it, as gear I've sold pays for it). Probably none of it was for a marked improvement in sound or playing!!
