  1. Helix stomp has almost everything you could think of. Failing that, the vt bass is very good. Or how about a trace rack preamp?

  3. Cheers, I'll take a look, looks like the majority are closed.
  4. We had our first practice at pirate cancelled for next week in manchester. Are there any other places open?
  5. That'll be a great rig. Loads of power.
  6. No. We eventually got asked to stop playing!
  7. My very first band was 5 of us at 16, spending Saturdays in the drummers garage jamming and drinking. We couldnt play a note between us, but we all liked metal so tried learning what was in the current edition of guitar magazine or something similar. As I recollect one of them was Lemon Song by led zep. Needless to say, that never worked and just turned into a drinking club! First song I really learned was around 5 years later - Shes Electric by Oasis.
  8. I must have changed my rig about 5 times during lockdown. Absolutely no sense to it. But it passes the time!
  9. Fantastic cab from Ally. Very easy to deal with and quality kit. Thanks again!
  10. Couldnt the punters in the venue just buy a couple of more drinks each to help the venue? Thatd cover the cost of the band, and it's more likely to be their local pub or club, than the bands.
  11. Immaculate Fender Rumble 500 v3 with padded case. This is the 2x10 version. Never gigged. Immaculate condition. Fantastic sound and very very loud. Also can be doubled up with the optional extension cab. Cost near £600 new and the cases are around £70 - save over £200. Pick up Leyland, Lancashire.
  12. Surely though, almost every venue I know of is either given a budget by the brewery to put on a gig (it benefits them as they then sell more beer) or if the landlord pays (as part of his business plan) surely that's written off as an expense and/or tax deductible. Interestingly though, around here, with reduced capacity in venues, the business plan has been to put the price of food and drink up, not down.
  13. Evening all. I see the barefaced two10s has a selectable switch for 12 or 4 ohms. So, 1. select 4ohm if using one cab. 2. select 12ohm if using three cabs. But was does running 2 cabs at 12 ohm do? (6ohm?) Will that be fine for running say any class d and class a/b amp? (Ashdown abm600 and rm500).
  14. The money is always there. It just depends who gets it. Play for free - the band doesnt get it, but the promoter, landlord, bar staff, brewery, beer suppliers, etc will. Despite what theyll tell you.
  15. Nice little practice amp. Perfect for the house. Nice sound, much better than expected. Hardly used. Pick up Leyland Lancashire. £20.
  16. Cheers all. I think I'll go for a 2x10. Just a curve ball though, the combos go for the same (approx) second hand as the ext cabs do new. Is there any sense in getting another combo and hooking them up together (say via the send return) or is the designated cab a better route?
  17. Absolutely brilliant. Just seen an article too on youtube - they make all their instruments and costumes from recycled rubbish to raise awareness of waste management!
  18. Hi all, I've managed to pick up a used fender rumble 500 v3. The 2x10 version. Has anyone used an extension cab with these? Would you recommend another 2x10 or a 1x15?
  19. Sorry to hear that Stew. Itll work out well though. Just keep positive, keep active and something better will take its place.
  20. Did anyone see the fa cup semi final yesterday? Anyone pick up on the fact Gary Lineker mentioned they had a saxophonist wondering round everywhere playing??!!
  21. I was a p bass player for 10 years. Then switched to jazz for a few years. Then back to precision. Jazzes are much easier to play - I always find them a narrower easy to reach neck - and have great tonal options to play with. Sometimes it's just good to have a swap!
