Having a quick look at interpacels site, it just mentions the following: 1. Must be in a designated protective hard case. 2. Must be wrapped and protected in bubble wrap. 3. Must then be transported in a cardboard box as well as that.

Yes, look at say, parcel2go. Insure an amp or guitar. Specifically put bass amp or bass guitar as description, so there is no confusion. Then take out the extra insurance to it's full amount- say £500. Then all that is overwritten by the companies t and cs which state in very small print that your not covered for certain items (regardless if you've stated it was specifically that) or iflleven if you've taken out specific insurance to fully cover it. I'm sure amps are only covered via p2g for £100. I'm not sure guitars are covered at all.

I've sent several basses with UPS. By far and away the best I've found. However..... There are 3 main ways to use them, so beware..... Firstly, dont use them via a compare site. The compare sites have ridiculous terms and conditions and mostly dont cover basses or guitars and amps only upto £100 - regardless of you fully insure the package or not, and regardless if independently the courier does insure them. Secondly I found UPS seems to have 2 almost identical websites and services. I think the one which pips ups forst on google is for big business (but you can still book an individual package through it) and the other is aimed at individuals, covers guitars, is very easy to use, cheap and no quibble over size or weight. Could it be you accidentally used the one aimed at big business and haulage? Hence the generic weight per dimension calculation?

Hi all, Just wondering what the market is like for good 1U bass amps. Theres a possibility I can free up 1U in my rack, but no more. So i could use the 1U for a back up amp. Specifically needs to be a bass amp (not just power amp) with a bit of character and eq. I know 'good' is subjective, but I think you know what I mean - any decent make (subjective again I suppose!) that will do a good job. Must be 500w approx if a class D. I know the 200w amps are good, but they would be found lacking in this set up. Cheers.

New rig for me at the moment. At lot of re jogging, selling and replacing due to covid work situation, but I'm really happy with this. Blisteringly powerful and versatile. Ashdown ABM 600 evo iv (main head). Ashdown RM500 (back up head). Ashdown tone pocket for practicing. Korg pitchblack tuner. Line 6 G90 wireless unit. Ashdown ABM evo iv cab. Cheeky markbass keeper on the side to hold the bass. Current main bass Fender Player precision.

I know..... spent years waiting for that rig. However, times are tough so have to use my brain for once! Managed to pick up a great used ashdown cab to replace these. Its twice as heavy as the barefaced cab, but that's the pay off. Luckily our practice room has an identical ashdown cab in the room, so I can get away with not bringing mine and using that, and just take mine for gigs! -
The fact it was 2 amps - a valve and a mosfet - was brilliant as you could blend them, use one or the other, and even have a backup should a valve go down. Laney were great too. Very quick to answer any questions.
-
Yes I had one. It was lovely. Great build quality and sound. In no way Ampeg like, bit nice valve sound. Manageable, but it's that nice youd want a case etc which makes it really heavy. You can pick them up dirt cheap if you're lucky.

Begrudgingly selling due to work or lack of it during this pandemic. Both are pretty much as new condition. One is literally a month old. Both have the 4ohm or 12 ohm outer switch, meaning you can run a range of ohmage options. Ie 1 cab at 4ohm if using alone. 2 cabs at 12 ohm for a combined total of 6 ohm, or 2 cabs at 4 ohm for amps that go to 2 ohm. Super strong grilles on these. Very lightweight. Around 14kg. Extremely loud. Without losing any definition. Simply brilliant sound. Thes also come with expensive hotcovers in leather look pvc. Very well padded and custom made full wrap full velcro cover. So no side is left unprotected at all. So, in all a stunning lightweight, expandable rig, that can even be extended more. So you can run 3 of these cabs at 12 ohm, at a 4ohm total. I'll offer both together first. If I can sell both separately then I would be up for that. Currently these are £629. The covers around £60. Approx £700 in total. So big savings to be made. PS obviously the amps etc are not for sale. Just the 2 cabs and 2 covers.

Pub band classed as pro and so working ??
la bam replied to aidanhallbass's topic in General Discussion
From what I've heard (whether it's currently true or not is a different matter) only venues that are SPECIFIC live music venues, that open only for live music and no other reason are allowed bands indoors. Even then they have to get special dispensation from the council to open and put events on. All events must be ticketed only and seated only and finish within set timescales. -
I think the more you buy and sell, the less bothered you get. It was a great thing to sell lots in the past - even if for necessity. I just remember that band with that bass etc and move on. Theres nothing i had that I really wished I had back. Perhaps my 1990s usa precision, but the new player I have is just as good.

New Mesa Subway head - Further update with added snake oil

Nice one! -
2 things that should be on the ashdown abm series - tuner and headphone socket.

Tube pres are allowed to save confusion
-
Haha, I used to call them class A/B but got pulled up for that! But, yes, that type of amp - class a/b, transistor, solid state etc. Non all valve or class d
-
Ok so recently weve had big threads on the best class d heads people have used and the best all valve heads people have used. So, let's complete it with the best solid state heads people have used (in their opinion) and why. Pre valves etc accepted.

Yep, I've just received mine. Superb amp. A lot lighter than youd think too.

I think you can if you order a custom shop one.

Cheers, the output from the g90 is currently set at 0db.

Hi all, an odd question here. I have a line 6 G90 rack wireless system and it's fantastic. I've used it with an ashdown evo iv and both work together well. Now....I've sold the ashdown and bought the same amp but in rackmount version. I've racked everything up, and theres a noticeable white noise at high volume. (not playing the bass, just on its own). This becomes notably worse when boosting the mids. I've taken everything out of the rack and tested. Same problem. The ashdown works phenomenoly well in the rack when using a cable from bass to the amp (not using the g90) - no noise at all. I'm plugging from the unbalanced jack out of the g90 into the input on the ashdown. Has anyone any ideas of how to eliminate this noise? Im a bit worried it will pass into the DI signal? Any help appreciated.

The evo iv is a fantastic head. Really fantastic. It is a different beast to the 1,2 and 3, but has similar traits. Any sound is possible once you get used to it. From funk, to r n b, to rock. I even had mine a bit Ampeg like tonight. Very punchy. Much more so than the others. Easy carry, but good weight. Volume and oomph for days. As with all ashdowns the pre shape is the key. Personally for me pre shape OFF (ironically by pushing IN) works great in the mix. To be honest it's a real steal at its usual rrp. If you can get it cheaper, even better.

I built a few bitsas years ago. I put a pair of Seymour Duncan quarter pounders in, and it just sounded like a mess. Nothing to do with the pick ups, but I hadn't taken any consideration into the pots etc. I'd seriously consider matching them the best you can to the pick ups you choose. It wasnt just a case of 'pick any and itll be great' unfortunately for me.
