That'll be a great rig. Loads of power.
-
No. We eventually got asked to stop playing!
-
My very first band was 5 of us at 16, spending Saturdays in the drummers garage jamming and drinking. We couldnt play a note between us, but we all liked metal so tried learning what was in the current edition of guitar magazine or something similar. As I recollect one of them was Lemon Song by led zep. Needless to say, that never worked and just turned into a drinking club! First song I really learned was around 5 years later - Shes Electric by Oasis.

I must have changed my rig about 5 times during lockdown. Absolutely no sense to it. But it passes the time!

Fantastic cab from Ally. Very easy to deal with and quality kit. Thanks again!

Couldnt the punters in the venue just buy a couple of more drinks each to help the venue? Thatd cover the cost of the band, and it's more likely to be their local pub or club, than the bands.
-
Surely though, almost every venue I know of is either given a budget by the brewery to put on a gig (it benefits them as they then sell more beer) or if the landlord pays (as part of his business plan) surely that's written off as an expense and/or tax deductible. Interestingly though, around here, with reduced capacity in venues, the business plan has been to put the price of food and drink up, not down.

Evening all. I see the barefaced two10s has a selectable switch for 12 or 4 ohms. So, 1. select 4ohm if using one cab. 2. select 12ohm if using three cabs. But was does running 2 cabs at 12 ohm do? (6ohm?) Will that be fine for running say any class d and class a/b amp? (Ashdown abm600 and rm500).

The money is always there. It just depends who gets it. Play for free - the band doesnt get it, but the promoter, landlord, bar staff, brewery, beer suppliers, etc will. Despite what theyll tell you.

Cheers all. I think I'll go for a 2x10. Just a curve ball though, the combos go for the same (approx) second hand as the ext cabs do new. Is there any sense in getting another combo and hooking them up together (say via the send return) or is the designated cab a better route?

This needs to go to no1! He is playing a chain pull and it sounds ace!

Absolutely brilliant. Just seen an article too on youtube - they make all their instruments and costumes from recycled rubbish to raise awareness of waste management! -
Hi all, I've managed to pick up a used fender rumble 500 v3. The 2x10 version. Has anyone used an extension cab with these? Would you recommend another 2x10 or a 1x15?
-
Sorry to hear that Stew. Itll work out well though. Just keep positive, keep active and something better will take its place.

Did anyone see the fa cup semi final yesterday? Anyone pick up on the fact Gary Lineker mentioned they had a saxophonist wondering round everywhere playing??!!
-
I was a p bass player for 10 years. Then switched to jazz for a few years. Then back to precision. Jazzes are much easier to play - I always find them a narrower easy to reach neck - and have great tonal options to play with. Sometimes it's just good to have a swap!

I've been all round the houses with this. I've had big old amps and cabs. I've had smaller class d amps, and half way cabs (barefaced etc). I even went small using helix stomp modeller and class d. All did a decent job. Cant complain. However, I've now gone back to using class a/b amps and a 410. The stomp was good, but not a great DI. No matter what I did, it just wasnt a great bass sound. It was there, but not great. Was that my fault or the helix? I dont know. Maybe theres too much to play with, or maybe the technology just isnt there yet. No one ever mentioned it, but it just didnt have the depth or sparkle to me. I plug in my abm600 and it's there. Every time. Great sound (pre or post) nicely balanced and no hassle. Has the power and sound I like on stage and the di sound that sound guys like. I always find a medium to big powerful amp and cab onstage help create a great rhythm section. It has that slam that you and the drummer can create with - remember hearing the bass and its sound isnt just for us bassist- and it just has that warm sound to make you raise your game. As much as I liked the stomp, I never really got that feeling with it.
