Me too. Never thought I'd want a blue bass - but that is fantastic!

Hi all, I'm looking at a Fender player P, and was wondering if there are replacement scratchplate available. I'm looking at getting a sunburst like below, and replacing with a tortoise scratchplate. https://www.andertons.co.uk/fender-player-precision-bass-3-color-sunburst-pau-ferro-fretboard

Yes, the photo looks good. The n115 is a bit shorter than the 410 so will be a lot easier to transport than the trace! They will also have been designed to work with each other so should be a great sound.

The n410 and n15 would be massive!

That's a stunning looking bass! Nice one. I have the Sire in the same burgundy. One of those colours that just looks amazing.

I've previously always been locked in to one bass (plus cheap spare) per band. A usa sunburst precision in my first indie band, a red and white jazz in my function band, a yamaha red bb424x in a dance band, and whatever I needed to replicate in tribute bands. However, it became quite stifling, where I would have liked to try another bass, but couldnt or was that paranoid it wouldnt work I never did. However it's been really refreshing watching old youtube clips of The Bangles, of all bands, recently. Almost every video I've seen, even of the same song, the entire band just seems to be playing whatever they want (2 guitars and bass), and I kind of like that. The freedom to play what you want. Also, it has zero effect on the bands sound.

I've gone into the way of thinking of: Main basses - for tribute band (so cant change them). Completely different basses just for the love of it - different looks, sounds and style, and see what I like. In this part I only ever buy then sell, so it doesnt cost me anything.

Great videos. An honesty about them I like. Not a polished presenter, but that's a good thing. Also, some class lines ..... Including "to get the lyric ..... I had to go to the Bahamas...!"

I dont think you can have one bass if you're gigging. You need a spare. So you end up with 2. Then 3. Then 4. Then back to 3. Then 4. Then 5. .....

New Mesa Subway head - Further update with added snake oil
la bam replied to Steve Browning's topic in Amps and Cabs
It says the cab is "ultra light" yet its 3kg heavier than my laney n410. The head looks nice though. For me, and I'm sure many others, if it can produce a weight to its sound, dare I say heft, is the deal breaker -
I had this very same issue. I had a standard blk and the v4 icon precision (roadworn). Couldnt find out which one was which, or what the differences where. The vintage (not the brand) looking ones are supposed to be warmer and more, or, vintage. The standards, more modern. They also have different necks. The std having a highly lacquered neck and the vintage v4 icon I had a smooth satin one. Although that may change on some models?

Good point - I'll give that a try.

I gave up a while ago. Nothing lost.

Daft question, with there being no on off switch for the active circuit, is the circuit always on when a cable is plugged in? Also, if the battery is running out, or runs out, does just the eq boost and cut stop working, or the whole sound of the bass?

Heres some photos of the holoflash legend. Without light on it and with. Now re strung with exl170s.
-
I think they're stickers to show what notes are which. Still no reply from seller. A bit odd as its priced quite high, so I assume they must have some idea of value. But theyve no idea of what make it is ....

Does anyone know the main differences between the legend and euro series? I see some people upgrading the electronics?
-
Thanks. I never know with the short and long scale. I ha e pretty standard basses and the long scale exls seem to be very long (no surprise) and need cutting and wrapping a lot, but I havent ever tried the short scale in case they are too short.
-
With the EXLs is short scale or long scale set advised?
-
That's good to hear. I've exl170s on my other basses, so I'll get a set for this.

What strings is everyone using with their Spectors?
-
I cant get any info off the seller, ive asked for front and rear of the headstock as well, to be honest unless it's something amazing I'll give it a miss.

New Spector fan here! Not my usual choice of bass, but my word, they're fantastic! Originally (well, a day ago) I managed to get a legend 4 blue fade second hand. Played it and it was great! Different sound to any other bass I have, but in a good way. I'd previously looked at the various ranges and loved the holoflash finish, but they look discontinued (couldnt find any online) and a lot more expensive. Luckily though I found one second hand and received it today and it's a stunner! So well built and finished. Love it. The blue fade has to go to recoup some money, but I'd happily keep it if money was no option. Just on the holoflash, I think it may be slightly different from the blue fade. The blue fade had a volume for each pick up (p and j) and then a bass and treble knob for the active circuit. The holoflash seems different. Does anyone know what the knobs do or how they work? Also, what is the tone pump jr? And is it adjustable like the full tone pump?

Dont do it!! I didnt like Spectors for years. Then, like magic, BANG!! I ended up with two in 2 days! It's true what they say you know!
