Excellent condition Korean Spector Legend 4 in blue fade. Great sounding and great playing bass. So good, I went and got another Spector straight away and hence this is for sale. Lots of tonal options, the P is a full fat P sound and the J adds that bite or tone, similar to how a g&l sb2 works. The quality of the korean models is forst class. This model is different to the Indonesian version and has the pick up covers, different neck fretboard and chrome hardware and bridge. Lovely condition. Pick up Leyland Lancashire. Could post but it will cost as I'd need to put in a hard case.

Already there! Bought a legend 4 in fade blue, then today managed to snag a mint legend in holoflash! The blue has to go now though I'm afraid, cant justify two.

Just browsing around and I'm liaising with the owner of this, but cant get much information. Can anyone identify this? It looks a very good colour finish, and matching headstock are rare in budget basses? Doesnt look to be any decal on the headstock though?

The newer (newer logo) vintage v4s are very good. All Wilkinson hardware, so you'll struggle without going over the top, to improve it without spending a fortune. They also record very well. Give it a chance first, see what you think.

It's a flat body with the curve. Its not the fancy fully curved body on the high end ones.

Morning all, Had a sudden rush of Spector lust the last few days (I blame Guys videos) and managed to find a decent second hand bargain close by, to try the brand out. It's a blue legend 4, but it's a Korean made one, with the older bridge and pj pick ups with covers on. I've looked and cant quite date it. The current ones are made in Indonesia and have been for a long time I think. Anywho, it's in fantastic condition. Almost untouched. It's the kind of darker blue green quilted finish which looks really nice close up, though I'd imagine more of a black from a distance. Plugging in and bareing in mind it's got old strings on, it plays really easy and has a nice sound. Every note is there in easy reach. There is a whole host of sounds available and the cut and boost of the active circuit are really effective. The first 2 pots seem to be volume for the p and the j pick up so each can be used individually. Balance wise it has the original owners cheap strap on, but still balances well although I will change that to my normal thick suede ones. The body is very comfortable, slim and almost unnoticeable when playing, yet just the right weight so it doesnt slip into feeling cheap. I've spent a good hour playing this morning and it has a really nice rich but solid sound to each individual note, so much so it makes you kind of automatically play quite funky lines instead of running rock style lines. The bass would be great in a funk, disco or pop scenario straight away. The lighter strings are very defined and really cut through in a nice way and are easily heard. I would definitely take this to any modern, funky or disco style bands over the precision. What it has made me eventually realise is it's a good idea to try different basses for different music where possible. I've always only ever had one bass and a back up, and played everything on that one bass no matter what it was at the time. Now I can see that some basses excel at certain styles and some dont. So I'm happy to finally see that. As for Spector - I'm very impressed. It's completely different from any other bass I have, but in a familiar way. If this is one of the cheaper models, the higher priced top level ones must be amazing!

Hi all, Can anyone identify this spector? I think it's a Legend 4. But it is stamped 'made in Korea'. And has block pickups instead of open ones. Also has chrome hardware, not gold? It looks to fit a 2004ish Korean legend 4 but they came with gold hardware? The bridge, fretboard and pickups are all different from the modern ones. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Great stuff. Disappointing at first (I had the same issue) but glad it's up and running great now!

Are those bloomin Guy Pratt videos laced with subliminal messages or something?! I've always hated the look of Spectors. Never interested me one bit. Not at all. Never like the shape, colours, sound. Nothing. Then for no reason whatsoever I've spent all day looking at Spectors, started to really like them, and nearly pulled the trigger on a second hand one! I get home late, look at this thread and it's full of Spector want too! What's going on!

I'd say definitely the 600 if you can. Has much more oomph, and much more control with the eq. Somehow feels a much bigger sounding amp, to me anyway.

I always think plain all black is better. A flightcase with shiny aluminium edges doesnt camoflaugue itself so well in cars and transport and can signal something expensive to thieving scumbags out there. An all black case just blends in nicely especially in the dark. I do love the idea of the amp case being permanently on and just having the rear and front panels removable like a rack case. Makes perfect sense and saves time and money.

I had the metallic red bb424x - loved it.

It makes no sense to me. People pick barefaced initially as they are so light, yet this laney is approx the same weight as the barefaced 4x10. The drivers are top of the range Italian lavoce, and it's very compact and very loud. I think some people just think of laney as old, heavy and uninspiring. Such as shame as they really have listened to what bass players want, and produced a range of fantastic cabs, but bass players havent listened to what theyve produced. I've had barefaced, and to be honest, the laney wins hands down for me.

I got a cover for mine with an under strap made by hot covers. Great protection, not cheap (about £60), but worth it.

Youre welcome! It's the best allround cab ive ever used. Good sound, very light and compact and very loud. Enjoy!

Re daft writing on the still photo, I think scott devine wrote a few months ago about how youtube now rank your videos and promo and unfortunately failure to do it in the new click bait style can seriously dent how youtube promote your videos unfortunately. It's a shame as I hate clicking on stuff like that, puts me off if anything. Just like the Italian bassist (sorry I've forgotten his name) who does slap bass. His click bait looks awful, but his videos are actually very good and funny!

I use daddrio exls. Great strings.

Love that colour and finish!

I had a no name one years ago. Pretty useless. Bulky, hard to play and just got drowned out as soon as we started playing.
-
Great stuff. Keep us informed. Potential great cab here.

Picked up the bass today for the fist time in weeks...

Glad you're ok. -
They were up around £800 a month or two ago.

I think that with any decent cab, it's easy to see its potential straight away, even at low levels. I've put a lot of different things through it including different amp modellers as well and it replicates what I'm putting in, which is great. What has impressed me is that it's quite a tight cab, ie theres no sludge in the sound and it is reacted very well to adding or subtracting eq. Even when I've hit a few full volume notes. The acid test is going to be at volume. Theres nothing to make me think that it wont cope at volume so far. If it does live up to its initial performance, it's a seriously killer cab. I'm talking for fairly large stage areas too - clubs etc. For pubs I've no doubt already it will be a winner. 4ohms you see. Make one cab solutions 4ohms. Stop messing about with 8ohm. Powerful head, 4ohm, lightweight cab = winner.

Nice! Honestly a fantastic cab. Have a play with the on / off / half find the sound you like and you're good to go! It's honestly all you'll need. Hot covers also made me a quality padded leather cover. Well worth the money. You've got a great bargain there!

I rang Dave Green after Mark Gooday said to ring him yesterday, as I was biasing my amp. Theyll sort you out. I had a similar problem with the biasing not moving on certain valves. Dave doesnt think it's an issue. You just balance them to reduce hum. He said use it for 100+ hours then get back in touch. In all honesty, if ashdown sort everything for you, you have got a great deal there! Just remember to check the DI too, just in case.
