  1. I'd start from fresh and get one lightweight, small, yet powerful amp head. Then a selection of cabs - 1x10, 1x12, 1x15, 4x10 if needed etc. Amp stays the same, you just choose which cab suits which gig. I've a 4x10 cab and thinking of a 1x10 for this application. No need to change anything else then. Failing that, I'm sure pmt have a cracking deal on their own custom made ashdown combos. Around £250. https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/ashdown-mag-c110-250-250-watt-combo-bass-amplifier?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwJbVzL3T5gIVmpntCh3LVgZBEAQYASABEgJTy_D_BwE
  2. For ease and quality, the Stomp. SO many options and different ways to use it. Loads of ins and outs and a million different ways to use and route it. Quality is fantastic. Size is perfect. And is everything youd ever want or need - DI, amp sim, cab sim, compressor, drive and tuner, just for starters. Amazing piece of kit.
  3. One thing is for sure...... these roundwounds are ripping my fingers to bits! On the plus side it's like I've speeded up 500% - much quicker and livelier, and able to do so much more.
  4. I must have missed it! To be honest, looking at the link, theres not much point buying at that price when the 600 isnt much more, and will be enough for any venue. If it was around the £400 mark i could see it selling.
  5. Looks like ashdown have released a 300w version of the monster 600w evo iv. Dont know of a price yet. The 600w was great. Presuming this is exactly the same with a slightly less power section and price?
  6. Helix stomp and a small powerful class d to power it.
  7. Morning all, After an impromptu purchase yesterday and no time to put on my usual flats, I giggled our second set with roundwounds. They were VERY punchy. Band loved them. So....I may be switching back to rounds in time. But, what is everyone using now? (it's a while since I bought any). These will be strung on a fender p bass. Ideally I'd like some punch with a bit of warmth, and I'd like them to last. All I remember about previous roundwounds is they seemed to die quite quickly. Or are flats still king on a p bass?
  8. My John Deacon inspired bass is up for grabs. This is a Vintage V4 precision bass with lots of upgrades. It's been modelled on John Deacons 86 Wembley Kind of Magic Tour bass and has had lots of upgrades, including: 1. Ibanez upgraded jack socket. 2. Shielding done on cavities and reverse scratchplate. 3. Vintage gold Wilkinson tuners. 4. Vintage gold replacement Wilkinson bridge. 5. Gold pot knobs. 6. Gold scratchplate screws. 7. Painted scratchplate - black. 8. Professionally set up by my bass tech so it plays flawlessly. Dont be put off by the brand. This plays as good as any fender precision (I've had loads) and sounds great. As testimony I've probably played this in front of around 40,000 people over the year it was my main bass replicating the 86 tour. Looking for £185. Which for what it is is a steal. https://www.queenesque.co.uk/queen-tribute-music To hear clips of it, you can hear it here on 3 or 4 songs: Pick up Leyland, Lancashire.
  9. Any good deals - buy it. You can use it for a year at least and then sell it for what you bought it for if needed. Thats the beauty of good gear - it pretty much guarantees getting a high percentage of your initial outlay back. Or look at it another way - its the cheapest way to rent good gear! If you buy something for £1000, use it for a year and sell it for £900 its cost you £2 a week to use it!
  10. Mine will be for back up and practicing, and perhaps taking on those scary, dodgy gigs where the normal gear stays at home. Great reviews, small, lightweight, fx loop, tuner, headphone socket - and around 300w into 8ohm, and £50 less than a trace elf (which I've previously had) cant really go wrong.
  11. Great find. I've just ordered one. Thanks.
  12. Alto make ok pa stuff. Punches way above its weight and great value, but there are compromises. I now use an old ts110a as a monitor for vocals and guitar and it's great for that. It has a 2 channel input mixer on the back which I put vocal feed in one and guitar feed in another so I can adjust as I go. Just one thing with the Altos - dont rag them (run on their limits) their cones will go pretty quick and it isnt pleasant. And remember (on the old versions anyway) 6oclock upto 12 o'clock is line level, 12-6 is mic level. They aren't 6-6 volume. Great value though. I'm happy with mine.
  13. If anyone can bring in a 15kg all valve (with plenty of valves) monster then they're onto a winner. 200w seems a lovely compromise power stage wise.
  14. That cab looks lovely retro / super compact style too. Nice!
  15. I'm not suggesting letting anyone down last minute. What I'm saying is dont feel obliged to carry on for months in a situation that can drag you down or make you ill. (I've seen it happen). If you have made your points why you are unhappy and/or suggestions to improve and they completely ignore you or dont even attempt to rectify anything, then why should you go out of your way when they wont move an inch for you? Being the adult, is putting your points across, or listening to others points and respecting them and doing what you can to help everyone. If people Ignore or mock you when you tell them things your'e unhappy with, they dont deserve your continued effort.
  16. If the band are nice and friendly and have good intentions then look for a way to end it quickly but without deliberately disrupting them. The other extreme - If they're a bunch of #^#%#% (rare, but it can happen) and wont listen or change or meet you in the middle, then in all honesty you owe them nothing, dont let yourself get down and carry on for their sake if they wont do anything for you.
  17. Depends on circumstance of why you are quitting.
  18. Neither was mine. Until it gave way. 3 years of searing pain and immobility really isnt worth it. Still, people told me that advice when I was in my 20s and I took no notice either. And probably still wouldnt if I went back in time.
  19. Nah, they all contribute evenly to a lightweight easy set up. The bb800 just sneaks into every photo because it's so small
  20. Hi all, With class d now being so prevalent and small class d being the norm, there is no need to use a full 19" rack anymore. So I'm just wondering with so many 19" rack tuners on the market, is there any half rack tuners on the market?
