  1. Hey guys! I'm at the start of a 6 week recording with my bass parts going down next week. I'm a p-bass man through and through but the engineers and producer don't really like it. They want me to record half the album on a jazz bass and only use the p-bass on the heavier tracks. In some instances a different bass on the chorus to verse!? What are people's thoughts on this? I always thought a bass along with the drums should stay constant throughout to help define an albums sound?

  4. Wicked cheers, to be fair although i did have a play with the EQ turned off, I actually didnt play with the rest of the band. Cant wait for rehearsal now then!

  7. Ok this is the first time I've tried to upload an image on here, hope it works. Does anything look amiss here? I basically just got to a sound which I really liked but perhaps I need to compensate the tone somewhere on diff frequencies? [sharedmedia=core:attachments:100988]

  9. So I have my finished rig (apart from a bass driver DI but I’ve run out for money for now!) Fender American P-Bass, 2 Markbass cabs, Ampeg SVT III pro. It sounds pretty damn gorgeous when it’s on its own. The issue is when I’m playing with the rest of the band, anything played low down sounds awesome (we play in drop C# so only a semitone below drop D), but as soon as I move up onto the A string and up the fret board I lose all the bass and it doesn’t cut through. I’ve tried a different cabs (2 massive trace’s last night) and I’ve tried knocking the EQ off the ampeg and still have the same issue. The bass is pretty light for a P-Bass. I had a look at the pickups and the pickup does seem to be quite low on the E-string end. I was thinking perhaps a compressor might help so i could boost the overall volume but keeping the low end at its current volume, but when you listen to the bass on it’s own it seems to keep the same volume through out and I love the tone. Have you got any ideas what I could try?

  13. What would be nice is to have the option of both just to stagger the funding of it but i can imagine wired wouldnt work with it being quite a mobile band on stage.

  15. Hi guys, doing a bit of research on in ear systems. What I want is to be able to find a relatively affordable system that can comprise of in ear monitors for my band, perhaps premixed via a passive mixer that we can just send a feed from to the sound desk in whatever venue we turn up at. What are the options out there?
  16. Ok so I'm pretty new to bass but have a kickass rig - Markbass 1x15, 4x10, ampeg SVT III pro, fender 50th anniversary P-Bass... I play in a classic rock band playing in Drop C#. My rig sounds wicked and fat on the E string (refering to standard tuning for ease) right up the fret board but as I move on to the A string and beyond the 7th fret I loose loads of bass and volume. The pickup configuration looks ok (as far as I can tell as a guitarist normally). How can I compensate for this? Grateful for any tips

  21. Its interesting that on the markbass site it says "This cabinet was redesigned in Spring 2007, and now stacks perfectly with all Standard series cabinets." If it's a bad idea, why redesign it?

  24. I have to get a small cab as I have a tiny back seat where the seats don't go down (bettle cabriolet). I also have to fit in the bass and ampeg and sometimes a girl.
