1.
then why are guitar shops still full of people w***ing on egg slicers ?
True. I have heard many kids in music shops chopping away at Dragon Force songs. Shred is definately not dead.
 2. Hmmm...not sure the grunge era necessarily killed off guitar hero's. Stone Gossard and Mike McCreedy from Pearl Jam are awesome players and one of the best lead/rhythm combo in rock music ever. Tom Morrello is known for weird noises and is very inspirational in that vein, but is a flaming hot shredder too. Billy Corgan and James Iha from the Smashing Pumpkins are really clever musicians and came up with some classic riffs and interesting guitar tones. Jeff Buckley was pretty bad ass and one of the most melodic players I have ever heard. Peter Buck from REM is a hugely influential guitarist. I love players like Slash, Dimebag, Nuno, Vai etc… but, playing 1000 notes per bar doesn’t make a guitar hero IMO. BB King is one of my fav guitar hero’s and he will only play two or three notes in a bar and is still hugely influential after all of these years!
 3.
Lol, me to. Call me vain (I am) but I have to have everything aesthetically pleasing. That includes cars, basses, amps, houses, women, and cabs. It also includes clothing. It's almost like saying 'these glasses help me to see, but they don't suit me'...you would wait for ones that do suit you
Nicely put!
 4.
Yes, church band needs an other bass player for the rota - any offers?
I am the only bass player in my church too. The keys player has a crack when I am unavailable and always moans at me about how difficult it is when I return! However, we have 4 drummers on the rota!
 5. I have played for lots of bands and artists over the years and in my experience many have just wanted to hear 'bass'. I used to have 12 different pedals at one stage and the only ones I ever found myself using is a fuzz, envelope filter and octave doubler and that has been done very sparingly. If the band asks for something then I will dig out what they want.
 6. What a horrible question to answer!! Saying that, my friend sometimes covers for me and he has better discipline than I do. I overplay a bit too much when I get excited!
 7. Lemon oil on any dark wood is suitable. I have used it on ebony, rosewood and wenge and does the job every time.
 8. I would be careful not to rock the boat too much, especially if they are not used to a bass player using more effects than the guitar players! I have been in the same situation myself.
 9.
Thanks man for your reply, and yes the cab is a more than a little out of my price range But the Proline cab might be an option for me. z
I also have the Proline 210 and that is an awesome cab too
 10.
Very cool small rig! How is EBS pricewise compared to Markbass? z
The Reidmar 250 is RRP £399, so a bit cheaper than the closest Mark Bass comparison. The cab...well...a lot more expensive than a Mark Bass 210! Ahem...RRP £920!!! I switched from a Mark Bass LMIII to the Reidmar and much prefer it. Suprisingly, just as loud as the LMIII if not louder!
 11.
You're right it doesn't have it: But from the information on the pannel it seem like it doesn't need it, it takes 110 to 240V. Cheers
Seems like it, but is it the same deal as the Eden WT500 whereby you have to pop the amp open and change over a jumper circuit?
 12. So glad that this topic is here because I was just about to post one myself! Going through the process of ordering a bass through Jon Shuker and I have included a MM pickup (active/passive) in build specs. Don't know whether to stick to what I know (Barts) or take the dive and go for Delano for a change. Quite interested to read that the Delano MM has a warmer tone. I like a nice growly finger tone, but with clarity and attack. These pickups seem like they will tick that box. The only other thing I am interested to know is if anyone is using a Delano MM pickup with various preamps such as Aguilar, Bartolini, EMG, Seymour Duncan...etc. I am not familiar with Jon's own preamp and how it compares to other popular brands.
 13.
Just be aware, the rack ears are £75. Complete rip off, order them from the US too !!
I thought that EA and Mark Bass amp ears were pricey, but that's taking the mick!
 14.
Back to around post 13 matey
Hehe! Yeah, I know...late to the party yet again! Using my iPhone and it doesn't let me know if there have been any other posts whilst I am typing
 15.
he's quoting pretty quick build times now though (4-6 weeks ish I think)
Really?? I don't mean to be critical as I have no idea what set up the workshop has and how many staff are there, but that sounds like an off the shelf build rather than a custom build.
 16. The market is saturated with Fender replicates and most will claim that their 'standard' exceeds what the big man can do whereby they are simply just reinventing the wheel, so I am always sceptical. That said...those basses do look pretty hot!
 17.
It's not that I don't like the Classic 450. It's a great sounding amp and as loud as a loud thing but I'd love that HD350 tone back but in a much smaller lighter package.
I had the same intentions when I bought my Reidmar. The Mark Bass amps are awesome and I would recommend them to anyone, but I much prefer the EBS tone behind me. When the Reidmar was launched I leaped at the chance of finally having the same tone that my HD350 can provide at a fraction of the weight at my disposal.
 18.
I have this plan for a bigger gig to use the HD350 via the two classic 12 cabs, one neo 112 and one neo 110. After advice from here this would seem to be ok as the HD350 can go down to 2 ohms.
I would like to pair up my Neo 210 with a Neo 112 or even a 212, but I am cautious that the Reidmar won't operate at 2ohms. I feel that an email to Ralph @ EBS is on the cards! But, more cabs mean more kit to pack in the car so its defeating the object to have a portable rig and I might as well just take my HD350 and Proline 410.
 19.
Yes - I saw that. I've read through the whole thread. Some parts are pretty technical and I'm struggling to keep up. The TC Classic drives the BF Compact well enough, but I've noticed I'm already at 3/4 main volume at rehearsal. I'm a bit concerned that I'll run out of headroom at gigs (coming up shortly). I was wondering whether the Reidmar would give me more volume and more headroom than the TC Classic. I like things simple - no valves, small number of knobs, passive basses, no pedals. Plug 'n' play, that's me.
When I used my Reidmar at full tilt for the first time it was at a gig. Before I bought that amp I was using a Mark Bass LMIII into a David Eden XLT210 350w 8ohm cab. I would say that I was using around 50-60% of the headroom from that amp, which isn't too shabby. With the Reidmar it's more like 35-45%, so it's certainly more efficient than the LMIII was. After I was confident that the amp could handle my Proline 800w 410 4ohm cab I then took the decision to buy an EBS Neoline 210. When I reviewed the Neoline 210 a couple of days ago I had the amp at 25% volume. My flat was shaking and the cab was tight as a drum. I haven't really cranked it to melting point yet, so I will report back after my gig tonight to see how it performs in a real life situation, but I am going to put my mortgage on the guys in the band shooting daggers at me very quickly and promptly turn down! But, I am going to see how hard I can push this thing through that cab before we line check. One thing I have noticed recently is that the Bright control doesn't seem to have much affect on my David Eden XLT210. I typically don't use the tweeter on that cab anyway, but when I tested it the voicing is not affected as much as it is on EBS cabs. You can hear it, but it's not as dramatic. Scratching my head a little bit on that one!? This amp is so simple to use. I tend to set the EQ quite flat for either a passive or active bass and just adjust the mid frequency. It takes me seconds to find a tone that will suit whatever I need. I might tweak a couple of other controls by small measures to suit the acoustics of the stage or room.
 20. Very, very tasty amp! I think Mark @ Bass Direct has them in stock now, so I will have to test drive one next time I visit the shop.
 21.
No love for the Aguilar TLC? I love mine.
+1 Love mine too!
 22. My new mini portable rig... EBS Reidmar 250 EBS Neoline 210
 23.
Folks, I have a TC Classsic 450 driving a BF Compact. I'm slightly concerned that I'm not accessing the full potential of the Compact. Would the Reidmar give me more volume for pub-rock gigs, do you think? Steve
Without getting into the debate about power efficiency of digital amps (there are already plenty of threads about that!), I can genuinely confirm that the Reidmar is very loud at it's power rating. If you jump back post #101 on this thread the image I posted will surprise you as much as it surprised me.
 24.
Looking very nice shizzit and no doubt sounding awsome.
It's sounding great...very pleased with that comboination First gig with that backline tonight!
 25. In the blue corner weighing in at a combined weight of 49lbs... Sorry that the photo is a bit fuzzy. My iPhone is playing up
