This stuff is hard to find in the UK, so I ordered a couple of bottles for about £24 from Amazon. Only took just over a week to arrive. Awesome stuff. http://youtu.be/xS4K9Y8G0Do

I have recently switched over to George L leads. As I need a mixture of various length leads due to my barmy pedal board layout, I was finding it hard to find quality leads at the exact length I need to keep everything tidy down below (ooo er misus!). I was supplied with a 10m lead (which is plenty) and you can cut to size yourself. If your pedals are in a neat and orderly chain you will use very little of the 10m lead and have plenty left over. Attaching the jacks is a sinch. I repatched my entire board in 20mins. At £70 it was pricey, however, I have spent well over £15 just for one 6" patch lead which failed after a few months of use. So, I think George L kits are good value. I know lots of working musicians using George L kits and I haven't heard a bad word said about the brand yet. The guy that recommended them to me hasn't had a fail on any of his leads since using them 4yrs ago despite heavy touring. Superb!
should we assume from the lack of updates that the bass hasn't yet left your body, thereby preventing access to a computer keyboard... Seriously - how does it sound. Really hoping it's sounds as good as it looks?
Your not far away from the truth! The bass has played 6 gigs since it arrived and done a recording job, so I have given it a good test drive. Once I get the chance to sit down infront of my computer I will post a detailed review. In short, Jon has done a very fine job! The bass is incredible!

One of the bands I have been recently depping for let me go. Their excuse; "We can't give you enough work". Ummm...I am depping for you!? I never expected much work from you from day one!

My partner doesn't mind me buying new basses, but she is not fond of the bass cabs taking up a lot of space in the house. I wanted to buy another 410 a few months ago and she put a stop to that.

Envelope filters that can handle a very hot input signal
shizznit replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Effects
I have different patches set up on my Soundblox Pro Envelope Filter with different input gains or envelope peaks depending on which bass I am using. I have been through lots of brands over the years and the Soundblox is superior by far to anything I have used. At over £200, its not a cheap solution and I thought I was mad at the time when I bought it, but the pedal has so many features to help you fine tune what you want...almost too many features! -
I was originally going to have matching knobs on my Shuker made from the same wood as the top, but then I thought nah. It would have looked nice if the pickup cover was also matched, but then the black bridge would stand out more. I kept everything black in the end.

I haven't played through a BF cab yet, but what I have read from comments made by owners is that they are seismically loud. Superb, but I have noticed that there are more traditionalists using them. Just an observation. I'm not a traditionalist. I like a cab that sings in the high mids and not the low mids. I think I might struggle using a my EBS amps into a BF cab. I have played my amps into an Orange, Ashdown and Marshall cab at my local rehearsal room and it just plain sucks. All the high mids and response drop off and I can't get them back again. Yet, there are some lads that use those cabs with high praise and can make them sound awesome with their amps. Some cabs just don't sound right with certain amps.

I have used a 400 at my friends studio plenty of times. Awesome amp. He has had it for well over 15yrs and has had constant use. Other than replacing the tubes (to be expected) it hasn't skipped a heart beat. There has been a few guys offer him good money for it, but won't let it go. Sound incredible through my EBS Proline 410.

An open letter to Custom builders. (Update on Page 11)
shizznit replied to Shockwave's topic in General Discussion
I have owned 3 custom built basses. A Warwick, MTD and now my new Shuker. All three companies built me an awesome instrument that I was bowled over with. There is nothing to divide the quality of any of those companies products, but the customer experience will always be different for any brand that offer a custom order option due to resource. The Warwick factory would put most car manufacturers to shame, MTD are a small operation with very high demand and Shuker is an even smaller business. My Warwick was delivered within 7 months of me placing the order because they had sufficient resource to turn it around that quickly...plus the fact that they appear to have NASA designing their factory machinery! But, during the whole time I only had one moment of communication with them, which did nark me off at the time and I didn't feel like a valued customer. Everything felt very impersonal. The bass arrived a lot sooner than I expected, so it was all quickly forgotten about. Mike Tobias at MTD delivered my bass after 11 months. But, he kept me well informed. I never chased him for updates...I received an email after any work completed on my instrument. It was a very nice experience and Mike is a very nice person to deal with. Over the years Mike has focussed more on the business and now has experienced and talented builders working with him. When he started MTD he didn't have much help for the first couple of years and, from what he told me, almost sent himself into an early grave due to the demand from customers. He once told me that if only dealt with one order at a time he could produce an instrument to his standards within 3 weeks. But, when you are managing 20 instruments at the same time...well...it doesn't take a genius to work that out. All it takes is for someone fall ill and an instant bottle neck occurs. My new Shuker arrived this week after 19 months since placing the order. That is a long time by anyone's standards, but that was on both our parts. It should have taken up to 12 months, but Jon injured his hand quite badly whilst working and a couple of unavoidable circumstances thrown in for good measure. I was also out of the country for a while not long after the bass was originally due, so it was bad timing for both of us. Whilst I was away I asked Jon to give my build low priority until I came back so that he could catch up on other important things. It was a small measure, but there was no need to lay more pressure on Jon during a difficult time. I understand that Jon runs his business more or less on his own and has to juggle a lot of things that don't involve building instruments. The guy is incredible and I have a huge amount of respect for him and for what he does just to make a few quid. I have read a couple of comments on BC slating Jon, but I can assure you he is very committed to his craft and to his customers. I will defend him to the hilt. You would not believe what this guy has to do to build you a very high quality instrument. So, would I go back to Warwick or go back to Shuker for my next bass? Hands down, I would give Jon my business again. When I picked up my bass for the first time I could instantly tell that a lot of skill and emotion went in to that instrument. I feels special...I can't really put it any other way. You can't put any price on that. I would have waited 24 months for it to be honest if I knew it was going to be that good. But, Jon really understood me as a musician and what I wanted. I am so pleased with the bass. Listen, there is no excuse for poor communication. I also hate being kept in the dark, but most custom builders out there don't have the same resources or technology as Fender, Warwick, Ibanez...etc. Not forgetting their investors and share holders. When placing an order you have to treat the whole experience with a pinch of leniency. These guys work under enormous pressure to deliver a high end product for little profit...they do it mostly just for love of what they do. Not a lot of people fall into that category and I certainly wouldn't put those kind of hours into my job for little return. Cut them some slack. -
I love the momentary silence just as you opened the case, followed by laughter. You could have got away with stopping the video there and we'd have totally got it. That said, a very thorough walk through the construction, very informative, thanks for that. Looking forward to hearing the sound clips.
Yeah, I didn't really intend to chat about the bass to that extent, but a few of my friends that are not BC members were interested to know more about it, so it was for more their benefit really...and anyone else considering placing an order with Shuker too.

I waffled on a bit in the video because I was really pumped when I opened the case. I think covered everything! I'll upload a sound clip of the bass as soon as I get time next week. I'll also post a review on BC. Almost forgot! A big thanks to Dood for helping me get this build off the ground. His in depth product knowledge really helped me to make the right decision to place an order with Jon Shuker.

YouTube is still processing the video, but I have just received the pics! I'll still post a link to the video later. Tell me what you think!
You are playing with our emotions. Harsh.
Not as harsh as I'm experiencing! Just been talking about the bass to the guys during our soundcheck and I wish that I never left it at home now. Cant believe that I will have to wait until Thursday to give it the beans . The action was a little higher than I like, so it would have taken some time to setup to my liking which is time I don't have tonight. The video seems to be uploading from my iPhone now just using my 4G signal, so its a race between my girlfriend and YouTube! I should be able to upload either the video or pics within the hour.

The bass arrived this morning! Just about had enough time to shoot a video of me opening the case and seeing the bass for the first time. I had to leave in a hurry and hoped that the video would upload to YouTube whilst using the wi-fi at the services, but I wasn't getting anywhere fast with it. I will try again later tonight, but I have asked my girlfriend to take some pictures, email them to me and then I will upload them to this thread later on tonight. Guys...take my word for it...this bass is a stunner! Watch this space!

My current preferred backline setup... EBS TD650 EBS Neoline 210 EBS Neoline 212 Even though I also own an EBS Proline 410, I prefer the 210 on top as I think this cab combination sounds more balanced as the 410 does overpower the 212 a bit. Not sure how much longer I will keep the 410 because I haven't used it for a performance since I started using this setup. Sounds incredible!
....You are a busy boy which is obviously a good thing but it does rather get in the way of enjoying the slow and careful unwrapping...
Yeah, it's going to be agonising unpacking it then leaving it at home for a couple of days before I can play it through an amp. I might not even get the chance to open the case if it arrives any later than 11am. But, on the plus side, I will be able to get familiar with it for a couple of days before it makes it's debut on stage this Saturday. Just checked the UPS tracking...it's now in Tamworth! Half way to its new home! Gosh, I really need to get a grip.
WOOHOO! excited for you mate!!
Cheers! Even my girlfriend is excited. Well, it could be just that she will be relieved once it is delivered because I haven't shut up about it since the day ordered it! The only snag is that as soon as it arrives in the morning I'm off to a job soon afterwards. If I am short of time (depending on what time in the morning it will arrive), I will try to shoot a video clip on my iPhone after I have unpacked it and upload on the move as I probably won't have enough time to take a load of pics. When I get back on Thursday I will upload lots of detailed pics using a good digital camera.

OMG!! It's on its way to Wales! Tracking it on the UPS website. OMG!!! I haven't been this excited for years!

It's finished! Has been for a while. It has been really frustrating for Jon and myself over the past 3 weeks. I haven't been able to visit the workshop to collect the bass and Jon has had problems with Hiscox. He ran out of cases and there is a delay at the Hiscox factory. So, Jon hasn't been able to send the bass in one of his custom cases. Jon called me last week and said he bought a standard Hiscox case to send the bass to me and will send the custom case when they come back into stock in a couple weeks time. He is letting me keep the other case, which is very kind of him. It has just come down to bad timing and circumstances for the both of us. Strictly speaking, I could have had the bass two weeks ago, but I have been away from home due to work commitments and could not guarantee a date that I would be able to receive the bass. I have given myself a week off next week, so Jon has wrapped up the bass over the weekend and will be with me this coming Tuesday. Can't wait!

I have been a member of the LGM forum for many years and I have chatted with Sharay a few times. Great guy and very willing to offer his advice and experiences. Other guys like Andrew Gouche, Justin Raines, Derrick Hearne, Maurice Fitzgerald and many more incredible players. Picked up a lot of very useful tips from those guys. I work with a lot of gospel artists even though I don't go to a gospel church. Dunno how I fell into that genre, but I really enjoy working with these artists. The standard of musicianship and song writing is very high and always keeps me on my toes. I am a funk player at heart, but gospel really speaks to me musically. If there was a gospel church in Cardiff I would probably go there...probably even play for the band!
