What famous musicians death most shocked you
redbandit599 replied to dmccombe7's topic in General Discussion
Weirdly for me it was Jeff Hanneman - I'd seen Slayer live lots in my youth and he was tangible part of that, rather than a 'rock God' that I knew but didn't really relate to. -

Right, after an extensive and fun research period I have found my favourite chorus, octave and high gain drive. I have however realised I don't need them for my current gig - sound familiar? 😁 So, selling on for what I paid (apart from the comp. which I bought new)- add a fiver for postage. Can't think of any trades but you never know... All 4 would make a cracking mini board btw ... just saying 😏 MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe £100 SOLD EBS Octabass Studio £90 SOLD EBS Billy Sheehan Deluxe £120 SOLD Seymour Duncan Studio Bass Compressor £110 £95 Cheers all

There's an internal switch that flips between buffered and True Bypass. Mine isn't reliable in buffered ( which is what I prefer) might send it off for a fix.
-
Really like my BSF too - mine won't run on buffer though and pops a bit on true bypass. I tried the Mojo Mojo which lasted probably the shortest period of any pedal I've ever tried - sub 5 mins before back in the box to be returned BUT I also picked up a Spark Booster as the same time which is very nice in a BSF kind of way but with a bit more flexibility - both on my board now.

Band Banners - is there such a thing as? YES! 😁

Thanks very much, looks ok from the front the bracket itself is a product of a bodger with a hacksaw and a drill! I have wondered about if I should try and register it or something and then see if any of the manufacturers are interested. No idea really about how or if I could register it though. 🤔 -

I have thought about that, no idea where to start with the registering of a design/idea etc or even if I could 🤔 -

Mine are 325AS - I suspect you'll be fine. Have a look underneath, you may see a little round sticker. The bolt hole is under that. They are on the top and sides too, I think for hanging applications. Mine are an M10 thread. I've actually worked out a way to do the same for cabs without the bolt hole of for when we keep the cabs in their cases. Nearly finished Mk3, will share soon! -

Will do. I've got to make another one, so leave it with me and I'll update the thread with photos over the next day or so.😁 -

Thanks. I had the banners made up by a place local to me as they had to be a bespoke size. I then cut a T shape from some Aluminium sheet and drilled a hole in it for a bolt through into the nut that is already moulded into the bottom of the RCF cab. The banner Velcro to the T shape and job done. I couldn't find anything ready made out there. -

Michael Jackson covers- Yes or No?
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in General Discussion
The conversation reminded me of Jailbait by Motorhead - haven't heard that in years (it is pretty cr@p) but the lyrics made me squirm even 'back in the day.' https://songmeanings.com/songs/view/92629/ Probably quite telling as to how attitudes have hopefully changed from the 'old days' of Rock 'n' Roll excess. -
Michael Jackson covers- Yes or No?
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in General Discussion
Yep, I don't think it's a good idea TBH - it kind of just dawned on me a bit that the song I was enjoying playing (well rehearsing actually as we haven't gigged it yet) was an MJ one. As per original post we do the Alien Ant Farm version of Smooth Criminal - which is very punky/rocky if you aren't familiar with it - so I don't immediately associate it with MJ. It's good work out for the drummer and I thought the punters would like it - then a 'light bulb moment' of "Hang about this is actually an MJ song" prompted the thread. I know there are people in our wider audience who have been directly impacted by abusers - there's no way I'd want them to be upset. Safe choice is drop the little weirdo, we've got plenty of other stuff to pick after all. -

Plenty of people still playing/liking Sex Pistols stuff and no one really knows if Sid killed Nancy or not? It's enough to make me want to start an originals band! 😏 -
Michael Jackson covers- Yes or No?
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in General Discussion
This is partly my concern too - covers bands are there to entertain and opening up a drunken 'debate' amongst the punters mid gig is probably not that entertaining... As the other names above illustrate, it's hard to know where to draw the line if everything you perform goes through the 'moral filter.' Tricky eh? -

No, nor a Gary Glitter - though as these cases have been tried and convicted while the perpetrator is still alive, I think that makes them an 'easier' case to blacklist. -
Hi all A question for my fellow gigging covers band guys and girls. What's your opinion on playing Michael Jackson covers post the recent documentary? (Which I haven't seen btw.) Only have Alien Ant Farms version of Smooth Criminal in our set. Cheers

Would also be handy to hide from the punters behind and serve as a 'safety barrier' - I'm liking this.😎 -

I've found a handy little built in bolt hole in the bottom of my RCF pa cabs. I reckon if I can get a couple of T shaped flat metal bars cut, stick them in a fold sewn into a banner, then pop the leg of the T out through a hole I can just bolt my hanging banners under the cabs.. Think this idea might have legs!
