Yep, you're right - typically though the punters have already bought their product in large quantities at our gigs. So our campaign can perhaps be a little less 'reassuringly expensive ' π.
-
Great little funboxes. Love mine. It's served well as a fuzz, Muse sound and currently doing a sterling job as an octaver.
-
Hah! Certainly can π. That's fine - I think you 'may be over thinking it' - this is a pub rock covers band. Though we are far from naff, the machinations of graphic designers and marketeers have no place in the pub π
-
Dingy pub corners- that's us! Thanks but this looks too blocky to be of use. It's often a squeeze just getting pa and light stands in, which is why the pull ups are an attractive option. Squeezing in more stands to hang a banner type backdrop from wouldn't work for many of the venues we play. π

Why? Just not to your taste, or for another reason?
-
Thanks for the input - what do you think about the three roller banner idea?
-
Thanks all for the input - been great to see the different designs and solutions, even if some of those swanky stages make me feel a bit jealous compared to the spaces we squeeze into! We've come up with an idea that we think might work well - we're probably going to get three pull up/roller banners - 2 @ 2m by 80cm and 1 @2m by 120cm. The wider one in the centre with our band name/logo and the other two framing it with Facebook details in the top corners. We use the image below for cards and FB page and think this could work pretty well. We'll make the logo bigger and higher and have the bottom half blacked out with the crowd silhouette. - any thoughts? We're thinking it should be pretty compact for storage and easy and quick to pop up.

Yep, the guy from GK actually said "most amps have this" so " you don't need an HPF"
-
I've been thinking about this too, but just contacted GK re my MB500 Fusion. They say this amp has a roll off beginning between 40 and 50 hz. So definitely worth a check before ordering.

I had something similar doing the exact same thing in Stratford - quick bit of research identified the UK hotel MD - I wrote and said that I'd been dropping off some equipment to a colleague which took slightly longer than their free period and was he/she aware that his hotel car parks were being policed so draconially? It's the parking co's they outsource it too - I got lots of follow up after the above and it was dropped straight away.

Ultimate Hard Rock / Metal Covers set - what's in it?
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in General Discussion
Some good stuff in there Graham - we've got a few of them already. Which would you pick out of that set as being 'the best' - love this auto correct thing 'whizzed off' indeed :-) -
Ultimate Hard Rock / Metal Covers set - what's in it?

"Good Bass work out" is about right - good shout though! -
Hi all One of my bands is the dreaded 'hard rock/metal covers band' - so if you're sniffy about those - move on to something more palatable now . We've had a girl singer until recently and have just settled on a replacement (due to young kids and sleep deprivation!) - who's a bloke and very different. Bit of a rock belter, in the Bon Scott sort of range. We've also been fancying going a bit heavier recently so this should fit well. We've got loads of old fart Dad rock in the back catalogue already but room for a bit more and some new stuff - we're having to drop quite a lot of material as they are female centric songs (the thought of a 17 stone, bald guy singing 'All I wanna do is make love to you', 'beach' or 'You oughta know' is funny and disturbing in equal measure...) We do this for fun - not looking for loads of well paid gigs - just rocking nights out with appropriate crowds 'giving it some.' Two capable guitarists (so dual leads/ harmonies are possible) - drummer solid, but not that hot on the old double kicking - though he covers it pretty well. So, just for fun really - what would be your suggestions for our "Ultimate Hard Rock / Metal Covers set" - down the Dog and Duck.... 1,2,3 - go!

The Big Muff Deluxe is good - but I swapped for the Green Russian re-issue. Another one to check out perhaps? Seems to carry a lot of bottom end so I don't miss the blend.

I'm thinking more about something along the larger side to cover up the dartboard, meat raffle posters and other random pub stuff than trying to use it for promoting the band in particular. I like the idea of a simple pattern on a black background that would look good under lights. Big enough to reach out either side of the drums and be behind myself and the guitarist. It's the rigging/ lugging of it that makes me wonder if it is worth it.

Hi all I find myself fancying a back drop (something else to occupy my mind rather than bass practice - yeah, I know ..) Never had one before in any of my bands and they aren't that common around my way, those that do are mostly originals bands (which makes sense.) So what do you guys think? Pub/club covers band - we've got quite a decent logo worked up, but actually I kind of fancy something other than the band name. Maybe something a bit old school with UV paint and just as a proper backdrop/scene to make the Dog and Duck look a bit different. Work well with the lights etc. So, anyone using one? Are they worth the effort of lugging about? What sort of size is popular/suitable? How do you hang them (just pin them up and risk the landlords wrath or use some sort of frame?) I have had a look at a few threads with recommendations of places to get normal type ones printed up already, but any ideas for something a bit different welcome. Cheers Jason

I think it's worth a little programming- I have static scenes which I tend to just change occasionally during the first set - then a few slow chases for the second set. The chases run on auto, but if I flip to sound to light they go loopy ( say for a solo- but only on a lively track) I also have a couple of Strobey scenes and chases that I can drop in when I feel like it (and can handle the multi tasking π)

Does the Ryger work with led lights that have more than just RGB? I looked at them as they are appealing straight forward, but looked to be limited to RGB.

I've got one of the stairville ones and it does the trick, bit of a faff to program and a few quirks but it's ok ( I got a b stock one) - one tip for this unit. I found that it had a delay between patches, going dark for a few seconds before the patch lit. I found that by flicking the unit through all patches once set up, this no longer happened. There's this one out quite recently https://m.thomann.de/gb/eurolite_dmx_move_bigfoot_foot_control.htm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoabh-YOr2AIVDTPTCh0jaAD1EAQYAiABEgL3dvD_BwE and you can go down the laptop and midi route too.

Thanks all - lots of options to consider here. Think a bit of Christmas research will be in order :-)

Thanks! Some handy advice there ππ

Hi all I'm not much of a modder - all my basses are as per original, but I'm wondering about 'upgrading' my Warwick Corvette standard (German, bubinga, wenge, MEC Dynamic Correction pups) to active. There's a big old cavity at the back and I'd like a bit more of the famous Warwick growl from this wee beastie. Don't really want to drill new holes, so maybe something with stacked knobs. Anyone done it? Any recommendations for likely pre-amps? Any tips? Cheers Jason

Thanks - interesting stuff. Some good ideas there ?

Hi all, just had our first proper gig with our singer playing keys. All good ? Typical 4 piece covers band but up for trying new stuff. Singer was knocking out a few little techno bits on the keys during sound check and it got me thinking about cross over dance / rave stuff. Anyone attempted anything like Prodigy, Pendulum, Faithless type stuff in a pub - any numbers that worked? Did it die on it's derrière? Cheers Jason
