Hi all I have one of the little Tender Octavers, supposedly (according to internet rumour anyway) withdrawn due to slightly too close similarities to the EHX Micro Pog. I like it 😀 Just stumbled across this new wee beasty - looks like fun. https://m.thomann.de/gb/mooer_tender_octaver_pro.htm?gclid=CJza3Jz099QCFaIW0wodeOEDGg https://youtu.be/RUifx_nw34c

Maybe try a bit of dirt if you don't already use it? In my two guitar rock band, I have some drive/distortion (there's plenty already from the guitars) - but use a lot more in my one guitar pop/rocky band. I much prefer playing with just one guitarist now I'm used to it.

Nice one!

Cheers all - gotta love a curve ball. In my other band ( more old school rock) we do a version of Mama Mia which goes really well. Spent ages on a reworking of Get Lucky, dropped it, heavied it, put Ina couple of really tasteful harmony guitar passages - died on it's arse 😂

I have a colleague called Chris Peacock ( he's fine with Crispy btw 😀), once opened a bank account for Dr Hu , and still remember the story about a local wag who changed his name to Mr Ha Ha Woof Woof. This just prior to a court case, brought by the local council and who he claimed were laughing at him and treating him like a dog.

Hi all Just putting the finishing touches on a rocky, poppy, Indy set for a new band. We've got some good stuff lined up already and mostly pretty modern too. I like a 'curve ball ' cover, but they often can die a bit - anyone done, seen or heard something a bit 'out there' that works well? Cheers Jason

Yep - the cheap pedals bandwagon! I look at it as part of the fun, but don't really expect to ever get to a final destination. I've also been through four fancy (and very nice) chorus pedals, before deciding that a Boss was 'good enough' and selling the others. My attention has shifted from drives to filters and reverby things now - oh dear... Blue - Tech 21 VT Bass is damn good though, that might be worth a try.

I've been through quite a few of the fancy drive pedals, but have sold them all on. Currently really liking the EHX Bass Soul Food and my Joyo Orange Juice (which is a filthy wee beast.)

I bought my California (would be a TM5, old shape) when I sold the bike in my profile pic - I couldn't spend the money on anything sensible after all It's a great bass, and still surprises me even now - everyone that tries it comments on the neck. It just does everything that I need. I like my Yamaha BBs too, very much, but the Sandberg is still 'top dog.'

"All of the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order." Not a name but a great strap line for a jazz band if you need reminding 2:30 on here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQNYUJIW4sw

"All That" As in 'all that Jazz' and "he's thinks he's all that, he does" - bit like Take That too. "All Three Cylinders" "The £3 Notes"

Small lighting set up for pub band?
redbandit599 replied to Gottastopbuyinggear's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have 4 ledj 7Q5s, two either side and they do the job fine. You can hang them on bars or they can be used as uplighters. Nice solid units, all metal construction. I'm no expert but did find a lot of units pre programmed patterns to be a bit 'school disco' - so I got my head around basic dmx and now have a Thomann foot controller and a few patterns. I mostly want/use fades and strong colours (but not all the colours all the time :-)) Worth it imho as then your lights do 'add something' rather than just flicker away randomly. -
Playing To Large Festival Crowds, Any Advice?
redbandit599 replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
Do you remember all those 'rock star' moves that Young Blue practiced with a tennis racket/baseball bat in front of the mirror, many years ago?? Well, drag a few out and do Young Blue proud -
Having played in a few bands with two lead guitarists - luckily none being the aforementioned "guitards" (joke wearing a bit thin imho) - I can tell you that what really winds them up is if you refer to the one who happens to be playing rhythm as playing 'spare guitar'. That really gets 'em

[s]MXR Bass Envelope Filter - £90[/s] SOLD [s]EBS Unichorus - £75 now £65 (this is not the True Bypass version, but by all accounts none the worse for it.)[/s] [s]TC Electronic Corona Chorus - £70 - has Velcro on the bottom [/s]SOLD [s]Source Audio Orbital Modulator - £90 now £85 - includes power supply, though it's 9v anyway (one for you if you like tweaking your sound as it's really configurable) COG Grand Tarkin Fuzz - £110 now £100 - has Velcro on the bottom [/s]SOLD Might be interested in trades, maybe a something synthy or reverby. Who knows?? Cheers Jason

Is this a mad idea? Playing house parties
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in General Discussion
Some great stories here all- sounds a laugh. Our drummer has an electric kit, so we're thinking all in the pa. No backline and easy to control volume as well as less space needed. -
Hi all Had my first ever silent practice with my new band last week. It was damn good! We noticed that we all tucked in easily to the guitarists conservatory and thought, if we stuck up the little pa maybe with a small sub (electric kit, no backline) we could do house parties! Anyone done this or promoted the option? I suspect it could be 'interesting' 😳

Band names - how did you come up with yours?
redbandit599 replied to AdamWoodBass's topic in General Discussion
I dabble in three bands currently :- Declined Transaction - this is made up of colleagues from work, Barclaycard, and we play pop punk . NightOwl - hard rock covers pub band (girl singers) and just named yesterday Hoaxx (much more contemporary covers) -the double XX to make searches easier! Declined Transaction came very quickly, the others took some time and lots of FBing and Googling. We take the view that if it fits and there isn't another band operating in our patch /or who are really well known with the same name then crack on - it's pub rock after all. Getting something unique is less important than getting something that fits and sounds good. Having gigged as Dumper, Red Raw & Sore and playing for a one and only time as Turbo Condom and the Fish Fingers I am much happier with the current names -
Does anyone know/ contact Scott, from the bass lessons?
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in General Discussion
Cheers mate- I've also directed Chris (Smooth Hound) to the SBL contacts page so hopefully they'll connect. -

Cheers - maybe I'm missing something but I can't see either of those on the website? I have found an email to someone dealing with media/promotions and a contact form which looks like it's for academy members. -
Best/Cheapest place to buy these kinda things for mounting pedals?
redbandit599 replied to Dood's topic in Effects
BTW I only ever needed two per pedal and it was very secure. Only drawback is that some of the screws in the pedals aren't quite long enough with the addition of the little plate/chain link
