  1. Thanks BassBunny! I've no idea which diagram it is - I'm pleased with myself that I've just realised the box is the switch Fortunately - drummer on hand with soldering skills!
  2. Hi all First up - my electrical knowledge is limited to fitting plugs and changing batteries. Fortunately, my drummer is a techy! On the Sanderg California there is a J and a MM pick up near the bridge - as standard the front coil of the MM can be isolated into single coil mode and then you have jazz configuration. I want the rear coil (closest to bridge) to isolate instead for a bit more toppy bite - we've swapped a couple of wires (green and white) but now the switch doesn't activate the MM configuration and the bass is just in single coil, but with the rear most pick up in play (so we are half right! ) Sandberg referred to the Delano guide and there are a few people of the Sandberg Players FB site who are also keen to try this.   3. Think I'll spring for a pair of these - my hearing isn't bad and I should keep it that way. Couple of questions about options :- Grips? What are they? Corded or not? Colour - what do you guys reckon I suppose clear is the obvious subtle choice, or is it better to go bling in case you drop them?

  5. Hi all I have an EBS HD350 - great amp, lucky me . It's 350w and runs down to 2 ohms. I sometimes use with two 500w 4 ohm cabs, EBs Neo 212 and 210 - sounds sweet. Still good with just one but just loses a little extra chutzpah. So, school me Basschat - I've heard of dummy loads but know little. Is it possible to plug something in that would give that full 350w 2ohm goodness into just one cab? Cheers Jason P.S. Apologies is this is an electronically daft question.
  6. Hi all I'm joining another band - it's the typical pub rock covers scenario. If you are from this area then it's with the two guitarists from Bouncing Of Concrete (well established popular local covers band) who are stepping back to have a less hectic gigging schedule. Good connections, gear and a cracking free rehearsal space - good players (apart from the bassist!) and good guys it seems! One or two gigs a month max -usual classic pub rock/indy stuff but looking to bring in some more modern stuff too. I'm 48, I reckon youngest is mid 30s. Anyone you know out there? - Must be a good standard of singer and able to front a lively band. I don't think these guys will want anyone that isn't the full package. Think they'd prefer a bloke - but I reckon if the right gal came along with a belter of a voice and the stagecraft then who knows ( I know one of these but she lives too far away -damn it !!) With the right person I think it'd get up to gigging pretty quick as we already know a lot of shared material Cheers Jason

I stick all my effects in a cheap true bypass looper so most of the time I play just straight into the amp. Means that you can 'preload' several pedals then turn them all on or off in one stomp - for instance I open one song with a big single synthy, fuzzy, flanged note using 3 pedals then need to instantly cut it and come in 'normal'.

We've got a Ui16 - it's a learning curve alright (previously had an old Peavey powered box - so quite a step up!) and we had a couple of moments of panic when we couldn't get connected, subsequently think this may have been 'user error' though Really good quality mixer though, sounds great and just seems to do everything you could need.

  15. Hi all I'm just joining a new rock covers band - seem like a good bunch of guys, know their stuff and we already have a shared arsenal of 'standard' tracks between us. Loooking through them I'm struck that there's not much modern stuff. So what's your tips for really good, pub rock numbers of a more contemporary slant? This band is just aiming to go out and give the punters a good night - nothing more. So all killer, no filler and integrity be damned 😉 Any versions from other genres that cross over well? Cheers J
  16. I got a Mooer Tender October from EBay - via China about £60. Does the octave up and down plus level of the dry signal. Octave up sounds 'different ' in that it's a bit artificial- kind of think they all do a bit. Don't think you can get them in the UK. Might help though it doesn't have wet and dry outputs so you might need some other way of blending it in

  18. I use one of these Nux PG1 jobbies - only plastic but works well for me. Whether it'd stand up as a proper pre-amp, I'm not sure, but I have plugged it straight into a mixer and PA, it was ok. I like having the ability to add a few basic effects built in and the tuner is handy too if travelling light.   19. Going through a similar list myself - have a female fronted band and I think we need to go 'more female' in song choice. A few I like that haven't seen mentioned En Vogue - Free Your Mind Abba stuff - we do Mamma Mia based on a cover on Youtube by a guy called Scott Gaskin, that goes down [u]really[/u] well Celebrity Skin - Hole Barracuda - Heart (love playing this one - check out the Alice in Chains with Gretchen Wilson version for added heavy)
  20. Hi - sorry don't know how to do the quote thing 😳 But yes the 50% mix is key and seems somehow better than a blend on the pedals themselves. Yes, the amp has transformers, it's not class D. Also, I like the sound I get from the pre. I can get a good tone without effects, just need to drop a few bits in every know and then for certain songs. I'm an effects off most of the time guy, but I like them and use them to have a bit of fun and variation

  22. Hi all Now - I know that the received wisdom is that dirt and fuzz should go between bass and amp, and if you use your amps effects loop then it's usually for modulation type stuff. But, try as I might - I just think that my dirt pedals sound much better in the loop of my EBS HD350. I have the loop set to parallel so it maintains a 50% clean mix at all times and it just sounds more of a complete sound to me. Just has bit more quality to it than when the drives are in front. I'm running a Tech 21 VT and a Cog Tarkin in there at the moment (along with a TC Corona, a Boss EQ, a Mooer Tender Octaver, a Digitech BSW and a basic switch to bypass the lot.) The difference between signal strength doesn't seem to have any impact on any of my pedals - and they are all silent and powered from one Onespot and a daisy chain. Obviously, all good and I buy the 'if it sounds good to you, then it is good' approach - but I just wonder if I'm listening wrong as I seem to have a lot of bad practice in there! Am I the only one!?
