I was about 11 when my Mum told me that Lennon was dead, I was confused for a while as I thought Lenin had already been dead for some time...

Angled Cab and Separate Head - my solution!
redbandit599 replied to redbandit599's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yes, the table legs can be adjusted so they are wider apart or narrower ( as well as longer) so it might work with a variety of cabs. -
Hi all Just thought I'd share this as I haven't seen anyone else do this before (I'm sure they have, it's not that special 😉.) I wanted to be able to just use one cab for smaller gigs etc., but also wanted to angle that cab up and have my (big and heavy) ABM sit on top. Below is what I came up with and it works well, I think it looks ok too. The amp sits on a table I got from Thomann with the amp on a wedge underneath, in this case it's also on my Gramma Pad too. Works well for me.

Lots of short scale 30" options. The Ibanez Mikro is shorter still but a fat sounding lovely little bass. Also the next size up is worth a look, Ibanez Mezzo at 32", cracking bass.

Learning the tunes and managing post gig self critique?
redbandit599 replied to DocTrucker's topic in General Discussion
Unless you are a tribute, or focused on playing exact covers - then once you've got the song structure and any 'signature' riffs and licks down, then start paying more attention to what sounds good with YOUR band rather than the original. -

I was coming on here just to post this, and just because you beat me to it, I can't see any reason not to 😁 Genius...

Skoda Superb Estate here. Quite regularly get PA, sub, lights, all the cables and stands, two 112 Bergs, Ashdown ABM, two 112 guitar cabs, two guitars, two basses, two pedal boards, several bags of stuff, plus me and our guitarist. Mahoosive.

Spark is ideal - the 4 knob version is the one I had. Also like the EBS Multidrive too.

I picked one of these up after seeing this post ( thanks @rushbo 🙂 ) and use it combined with an AER wedge thing (like the Markbass one) - I stick my cab (Berg 112) on the floor with the wedge underneath it, put the Thomann stand over the top of the cab and then pop my ABM600 on the stand. It all looks pretty neat and works well, been great for rehearsal and smaller gigs where I don't need/want both 112s. If you have a chunky head and cab rig rather than a combo, then I think it's well worth a try. One thing, the Thomann stand I got was quite wobbly and out of line when I got it - however, after having been squished by my ABM for a few hours it settled in and is fine now - just thought I'd mention as I nearly returned it.

Many, many years ago, a friend of a friend had a band called 'Keith's Dad' - iirc, they were originally called 'Keith', but there was evidently already another Keith. A quick Google reminds me of their EP 'Nobody wants to shag Keith's Dad' - I seem to remember Snorkel Parka Punk quite fondly 🙂

There's a Coverband Facebook page over here in Essex where this seems to happen all the time, loads of people going on about how playing pubs for £250 undervalues them and 'How are we supposed to make a living?" type comments - I just think that if you are relying on pub gigs to make a living then, you probably aren't in the right job - or you aren't good enough/dedicated/appropriate to land the higher paying function work. We play local pubs mostly and get £250-£300 between four of us. Coming out of Covid we took the decision as a band to quietly offer our existing landlords a lower fee for any gig before the end of 2021, we called it Covid Relief - we actually said we'd do gigs them for £120. (Would have been lynched on Facebook 😜) - but when those landlords asked us at the end of the night what the fee was - we said "Well usually £250/£300, but as you know we are offering you a cheapy at £120 to help out." Every single one of them nodded, went off and came back with the full normal fee - one even paid us more...

Anyone remember the rock band 'Skin'
redbandit599 replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
I used to seem them when they played around my way - great live band, always a good night out. One of my favourite gig memories is of a load of sweaty rockers singing along and doing the actions to their cover of S Club 7's 'Reach for the stars' - great fun 🙂
