I mean in traditional swing/jazz, its really the bass player that should be keeping time with the walking bassline and the drums mking the piece more interesting - not that professionals should need any help to keep time

I suppose if you're a band doing pub/club gigs, then a bit before hand and then afterwards is acceptable, but if you are a 'professional' musician then absolutely not.

have you tried any ibanez basses? Do all the teachers have laptops, and do they have CD drives? Just get an adapter cable (3.5mm jack to Twin RCA/Twin 6.3mm jack) to plug into the headphoine socket, then into the mixer and there is your CD player?
