  1. Ok thanks Lozz I will cut the foam under it and get it lower on that side 👍
  2. I had a reasonable amount of success with a grub screw knob using a shim made from coke can
  3. Thoughts appreciated . I have a CS 60s jazz with a boomy e string , no matter what. It has east retro pre amp which I love, 40-95 DR hi beams and the foam cut under the neck pu so that the e is further away from the string still have the problem. the 60s j bass pick ups do not have raised poles on the middle two things despite the 7.5 radius board and the lower e and g string. does anyone else struggle with this on a jazz ? Could of be a bad string ? any ideas welcome? cheers nick
  4. Nice , I’ve got a clf L2000 and a tribute 2000, both are very good and versatile but I think the 1k ( wonky ) is different again, really sort after, great bass mate
  5. Played it on Saturday and it does sound really nice with those p ups and pre amp
  6. A 5 string Bacchus in nice condition , think it’s one of the handmade ones, says that on the back of the head, ebony board, nice block pearl inlays and body and neck binding. Truss and bridge really adjustable and truss works lovely. 34 inch scale , recent set of strings . has slight crack in head from the b tuner but doesn’t go all the way through. I bought it like this and ran some CA glue wood fix, never moved in 7 years I’ve owned it. There is a small piece of binding missing from the bottom of the neck . I bought this as a passive bass but it never had much power for gigs so I added some nordstrand pickups and a nordy preamp which has livened things up a bit. It’s a lovely thick tone now with ability to get some bright highs using the treble and the tone pot . only selling as I need to clear a few out. would prefer collection please . any issues with the add please let me know as it’s my first one !
  7. Hi Bassy is the elite still for sale? pm sent nick
  8. Resurrecting an ancient topic, sorry, but I’ve just bought a mint L-2000 tribute, natural MN with a John easy u retro pre amp. I’ve had it all appart as it needed a clean , new strings and a battery. Didn’t know which model of preamp it was and couidn’t work out what it all did with the three original switches. I emailed John a photo and he confirmed and sent me the manual - really helpful. Now I’ve set it up action , truss etc it’s really nice and will use it this weekend at a gig I reckon. did anyone on here own this bass ? nick
  9. just thought id say hello , been lurking for a while now and then but just signed up. pretty well seasoned player, not that flash but steady. been playing for 50-60 years, electric and double bass in many bands over the years. not much DB these days although i still have two plus a NS and mainly play a parts Jazz or a G&L L2000 American in a covers band. may have a couple to sell soon when i can get the pics to upload from my Mac, as i have a couple of 7s i don't really play at all which a more "inspirational" player may make use of😄. anyway, hello all! mucho gusto Nick

    hello

hello boys and girls, new to the site but not to bass playing - being of the older contingency at the moment i am in a covers band playing rock and pop covers round the southampton area. myself and the guitar player are from the original band and weve been to gether for 6 yrs - the drummer and singer are newer, but only slightly. i play a mixture of machines thro various amps and cabs. a double bass which ive had for years, an NS upright 4 string, a fretless fender P, and two 7 string fretless Mazetis which i play the most and love em. i use an ART valve preamp with a PV2600 power amp mainly thro a series of cabs. thats me, nice to meet you guys .
