I gig with an old Ibanez SRA305. The SR series are some of the best value-for-money 5-string basses out there for feel, tone and playability.
The Ibanez SR505's are great value for money.

I've been through a few cabs recently - and although I prefer two cabs, the best single cab solution IMO is a Markbass Traveler 102p cab (2x10 plus tweeter), in the 4ohm version - to pull a decent load into the one cab. Rated at 400w if memory serves.

Guitarist obsessed with scooped tone is driving me crazy
bagsieblue replied to Naetharu's topic in General Discussion
Been there and decided to tell the whole band we sound sh*t, all because one guy wants 'his tone' Along with a long rant at why he chose this tone and that we are no longer playing in his bedroom on a tiny MG30 combo, and don't need to compensate for the lack of bass guitar in a bedroom. The guy is obviously a child
From experience - completely agree. Give him a rehearsal (or two) to sort it or walk away. Otherwise it will be a continuous bone of contention. Again, from experience, I wish I'd have nipped this in the bud as soon as possible by either dealing with it or walking away. -
Farida P bass has a super slim jazz style neck, excellent build quality and cheap enough to mod it to exactly how you it. Mine has a an SD Quater Pounder in and sounds fantastic
ahem.. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/272397-natural-ash-farida-precision-bass-p-bass-with-jazz-profile-neck-l199-shipped/page__p__2903066__hl__farida__fromsearch__1#entry2903066

Another deal with Martin, as always - easy to deal with, straightforward deal. All completed in super quick time with no fuss, Thanks again Martin.

Amazing easy deal with Aharon - all done and completed inside a couple of hours from first contact to receiving payment. Would happily deal with again. Thanks again.

Agreed - I've got an identical sunburst one. Excellent bass for the dosh. I've seen this a few times on eBay - started up at £300 plus I think.
I have the 5-string version, the L1505, and the sound is phenomenal. The MFD pickup is monstrous, and they got the placement just right imo. I don't think the thumb rest is original, but it looks quite classy. GLWTS!
Thanks and Bump
I'd forgotten one, the all-girl 'band' (I think they were more performance artists than actual musicians tbh) that were on first at the RHCP's gigs when James Brown was second on the bill, think it was a greatest hits tour. Man City's football stadium. Shambolic from start to finish. Think they were Australian but could be wrong, forget their name.
Ah yes, I remember that. Dixie Chicks??, they were awful. I recall John Frusciante saying it was uncool for giving them so much stick.

Up for sale is my EBS Cabs of: 2 x Neo 110's No problem at all with any trial or test. More info here: http://www.gear4musi...ker-Cabinet/P34 All in very good condition. Small issue in that one of the cabs in that the spring loaded handle/tilt stand does not spring back automatically. Still works fine as a handle, tilt stand etc but rather than 'springing back' flush against the cab it needs to be folded back into place. A very minor issue and likely an easy fix but it's never bothered me as no functionality is lost. Pics here:
