1. Blimey....bargain, strangely and strongly attracted to this. I blooming' love it. Agreed on times being hard - I've had a few up on here recently and not sold. So many amazing basses at amazing prices.
2. Yep, the pink one is very pretty isn't she? There must be more 80's ones round then I thought...
3. because I like posting the pics - here is the pink one:
4.
Thank you. The pickups are the original P/J and say SGC vertically on the side, it's just worn off. The battery holder was on the bass new. Everything on the bass is original as it was new. I'm the first and only owner. Two of these came to our local music store in 1986. I bought this one and my good friend bought the other one - a white fretless. The truss-rod cover did say Bass Collection but was lost.
Hello Will M - welcome to the thread. Your bass looks very much like mine that I sold - link here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2543421 Although it doesn't look like it in the pictures, in the flesh the finish of the bass is almost identical to yours I sold that bass a couple of years ago - from memory the serial number dates it to 1991 - I also have a pink SGC Nanyo that dates to 1988. Having had a number of SGC Nanyo basses over the years, the 1988 one is the earliest one that I've had. From memory of magazines and shops I only really remember them becoming available around 1994 in the UK, that seems to be the time of reviews in bass mags (that I still have) from that time, also fits in to my thinking back of this time. Maybe the Nanyo's were released into the USA first (would make sense as a larger market) - mid 1980's, and then into Europe / UK later on mid 1990's and the design, spec etc was refined over time. I miss my old SGC Nanyo's and am hankering to pick up another...maybe a nice fretless. EDIT: Just reading back a little, seems there are other UK Nanyo's dating to 1988 ish, - I will have to dig out the old mags as I'm fairly sure those dated to 1994 ish have SGC Nanyo's reviewed, very favourably, as being new products into the market.
5. Sold some (more) books to Rich in the great bagsieblue clear out. Simple, straight forward deal - nice little chat by PM....great minds and all that... Would happily deal with again. Deal in confidence and Thanks Again Rich
6. Have you tried Manchester Bass Lounge Karl? From the website at least , there seems to be decent range of MB goodies in there. And other goodies as well for that matter.
7. Karl, yep was pretty quiet. I stopped for a quick Hobgoblin - walked in just as you started up. (Great version of Wanted: Dead or Alive by the way - one of my favourite songs as a budding teenage rocker - I love songs that develop and 'go somewhere') Good sound and a good mix at a good (non deafening volume) I was behind the pillar as I prefer to hear bass players than see them. Nothing personal to you of course! I realise this is going to make me sound like a loon but............ I don't like my eyes to influence what I'm hearing. Drives my wife mad, when we go to a big gig and she says I thought you wanted to see xxx .. but you always look at the rest of the band.
8. Karl, ha ha yep, it was annoying me too for my brief (cameo?) appearance on Friday....
9. Shameless self promotion as the book was mentioned earlier in this thread. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/245150-bundle-of-bass-books-introduction-beginner-level-l2000/
