SOLD +++ Warwick Star Bass V Pro Series Black with Hardcase
bagsieblue replied to disssa's topic in Basses For Sale
I believe the new Rockbasses have rockbass on the truss rod cover . You are right that the new German pro series are assembled in China! The serial number begins WPS so this one is definitely made in Korea, so in summary the spec list on here (and Thomann) seems to be wrong. I would post the right list but i am on my phone! Anyway, point is this is a top quality Warwick with all the German electronics and hardware, I would if I could!
Ok - on the Rockbass Truss Rod, the big white Rockbass Logo has now been removed. The spec is right on Thomann - for the Chinese made Star Bass. I can't disagree that it is a Korean Star Bass - I don't know which one this bass is - if we take it that it is Korean then the picture and spec are wrong.
Also the arched bodies and backs on the Koreans against the flat of the Chinese. I think the OP's is indeed the Pro series Korean model. Mine on the other-hand has the WPS G serial, is from 2011 as far as I can tell, has the bronze frets, wenge board and arched top and back and reads handcrafted in Korea on the label inside the body. Where there really 2 Pro series of Starbass?
No - not been 2 Pro Series. I think you are getting confused on the serial number. WPS = Warwick Pro Series., then next letter is the month (A= January, B = February etc....), on mine the B signifies February. On yours Highfox I believe the G on yours means July. So your serial number is WPS G XXXXX - not to be confused with the new Warwick range of WGPS series. TraceAmp - apologies for the thread derail but important to get the detail right to help your sale I think. -
SOLD +++ Warwick Star Bass V Pro Series Black with Hardcase
My understanding... Rockbass, made in China. Pro Series, made in Korea WGPS Pro Series (2013 or 2014), parts shipped to Korea for assembly This bass is the second one I believe, and is not a Rockbass, unless it says so on the headstock.
Strange isn't it: My understanding: Rockbass, made in China - agreed, although newer Rock Basses no longer state Rock Bass on the front of the headstock Pro Series, made in Korea - agreed, was the case, now all discontinued I believe. - That is to say there is no Korean Pro Series in manufacture any more and there are now the Chinese Assembled WGPS. WGPS Pro Series (2013 or 2014), parts shipped to Korea for assembly - slightly disagree - parts shipped to China for assembly. Leaving the confusion aside this is listed as a Pro Series Star Bass / Not the Cheap Made In China Version. Specs are then quoted as Rockbass and Rosewood fretboard. It can't be both a Korean Star Bass with these specs, if a Korean Star bass the Fretboard should be wenge. Hard to tell from the pic what material the fretboard is. Another difference is on the Korean bass the frets are Bronze, on the Chinese Star Bass the frets are what Warwick describes as ‘extra high jumbo nickel-silver frets' - from the picture I have to say the frets looks more like nickel than bronze to me. -
Rockbass and the new WGPS series (which has replaced the Pro Series) are different basses. Then there is the uber German series. This bass was made in Korea and is now discontinued.
If that is the case, the specification on post 3 is incorrect. -

I think the confusion is that in post #3 you state "Rock Bass Star Bass Maple" The Korean ones - now no longer made - are the Pro Series Star Bass. A quick google search brings up Rock Bass Star Bass and WGPS (Warwick German Pro Series - parts shipped from Germany to China for sanding, painting assembly) - I must admit I am not sure if the Rockbass and the WGPS are the same model or different models. What is the serial number of the bass? The serial number of my Gold 5 String Korean Star Bass is WPS - B XXXXXX Hope that helps. -
I've not heard of this make... Do you think it would be rugged enough for being put in the hold of a plane..?
Yes - I reckon so, outside of a full blown hard case this is amongst the best around - have a search on here and elsewhere and you should find lots of praise.
I used to gig with a Yamaha BB414, currently playing a Yamaha BB5N fitted with DiMarzio Area J pickups. My playing style has been heavily influenced by Steve Harris, fairly sharp attack, strings hitting the frets. Recently I've tried to raise the action a little and play less aggressively. I was quite surprised to find that a friend of mine plays his P bass with the tone rolled off. I've always played with the tone control wide open.
OK - would be interested to see what sounds a different bass and style can achieve. Some of the amp models presets give a very nice think chunky sound - and then you can also eq from there as well, If I remember right the controls on the amp (for EQ, compression etc) are digital so hard to tell at first glance what settings have been set. Are you still struggling to get a thick sound with all the permutations of amp and cab models that you can select between?
Someone was selling a pink one a little while back... BeneathItAll, I think. I should have bought it...
The pink one is mine..I listed it up and it never sold.....!!!! Ah ah - and manager to find the link with the pics: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/213518-look-at-the-even-better-pics-1988-bass-collection-sgc-nanyo-sb301-in-metallic-pink-rarenow-withdrawn/page__p__2175408__hl__pink__fromsearch__1#entry2175408 -
As I said to Chris in a PM, If I set the EQ flat (Bass 5; Mid 5; Treble 5) on any amp model, I find it very 'middy'. I usually have to cut the mids and wind back the treble a little, the bass is almost always near max. If I play the combo on it's own, our guitarist will turn to me and say "can you put a bit more bottom end in it?" to which I have to reply "No" . I've got the bass almost maxxed out and the DDT led is blinking away like a good 'un. With the PRO115 plugged in underneath, the DDT stops flashing but the rig still seems mid-dominated. As I said in my original post, running the GT-6B into the power section can produce eyeball shaking lows. Beginning to think something's not right. Might ask Chris to give it a whirl when he gets back off his hols
In that case (assuming no problem with the amp) other variables are the bass (cabling?) and yourself (style, technique etc). What bass are you using? - what type of signal are you sending to the amp?

Thanks, unfortunately I'm needing to reduce my collection. More blurb here... Even though it cosmetically resembles other Corvette models, the Double $$ gets its outrageous attitude and powerful identity from its unique pickup and electronics package. There are two passive MEC humbuckers nestled closely in the center of the body, completely covering the legendary sweet-spot that so many basses miss completely. But this bruiser has a sensitive side too, which can be accessed via the two mini 3-way switches that allow you to coil tap each humbucker in a variety if ways (hum canceling parallel/series, single coil). To give the Double $$ more flexibility, the passive pickups are matched to a MEC 2-band preamp, making this behemoth a true passive/active hybrid bass – the best of both world.

Ah.. Peavey BAM - Great amp, but is heavy. I was the previous owner of Chris's - have to say I never found it lacking in lows - not in the slightest. Chris - interesting that you use the BAM setting, i.e. with no modelling - as that was my favourite as well, is sounds so 'pure' as an old drummer once commented! High praise indeed as I think the modelling on the amp is fantastic. Didn't spot that you were looking to move it on, I'll PM you details of someone who may be interested.

Blimey - was toying with the idea of selling mine but I'd be wanting more than that for it!
Does it have a case or bag? If i manage to convince someone to take my LX Jazzman, i may take this!
Yes - it comes with the Deluxe Warwick Gigbag, issued at birth with the bass. Also has the Owners Manual, Ltd Edition Paperwork etc.
