2. Peavey BAM 210 gets my vote for the best. A tad big and cumbersome but very very good. (How's the Ray?)
3. Crikey - didn't see that coming Mr EAD.
4. Nice bass - lucky boy - you've had a few NBD's recently

6. What value somebody 'wants' to achieve is down to the seller. What value somebody 'wants' to pay is down to the buyer. Any crossover in these figures should then mean people can strike a deal. A bit of ‘pricing architecture’ can help here for both the seller and the buyer. I’ve put items up for sale at, say, £550 wanting to achieve £500 with offers but none at £500. I’ve then relisted at, say, £600 – still wanting to achieve £500, offers have then been made at £500. I’ve done this on a number of things recently from basses, amps and even a car – no interest at around the price I had advertised, hiked the price on the advert and sold for what I wanted fairly quickly. I think people see a sales price and subconsciously think that they need to get x amount off that.
7. ...they have is the one currently in their hands? Even when A/B ing basses I always prefer the one I'm currently playing rather than the other.....until I swap!
8.
Aye, right
Well I am a non Facebook, Twitter etc Muppet....
9. Yep, out of all the basses I've had or have, the best bass I have is the one in my hands at any particular time.
10.
Spot on. Both my basses are out at about 60% of new price. Still not selling mind . My last two have sold elsewhere, but as yet are not advertised there. Basschat is still always my first call. Surprisingly, social media is my second call now.
Karl- what is this social media of which you speak?, here be dragons?? For a non Facebook, shy, private, distinctly average bass player am I missing that there is a whole new world over the hill??
11. Would love an iPad but probably overkill for my needs. Anyone got a good cheap laptop??
12. Have to say I don't know what DAW is! Bass goes through a practice amp. I 'think' I'm fine with that - no immediate need to plug into the PC/Laptop/Tablet etc - unless I am greatly missing out on something by not doing so. I basically stream tuition vids, backing tracks and pull up sheet music. Probably the couple of things that I do the most are flip between a pdf of charts / dots (I'm trying to avoid TAB) and playing the music either on the device or streamed.
13. Did a bass trade with Simon. The guy is a gent - hassle free transaction from start to finish. Plenty of open and honest communication. Did the deal in a layby off the M6. Simon did the lion's share of the journey as I was pushed for time so credit to him for that. A pleasure from start to finish. Thanks again Simon.
14. Thanks everyone. I was hoping to be talked out of an iPad but the recommendation seem quite strong.
15. I need to replace an old laptop in my home man cave / music study room, primary use is as a bass study aid. Needed to: Play music Play videos (youtube etc) View Sheet music Browse Basschat etc. What are others using, what would you recommend? Laptop?, PC? Tablet?, iPad?
16. Now Gone.... Up For Sale Is My Lovely 1997 Warwick Fortress One. Another incoming Warwick means I need to move this on. Serial Number dates from 1997. Less ubiquitous than, say, a Warwick Corvette. Balances very well thanks to the extended upper horn. Great overall condition overall, especially considering the age. A little buckle rash in the lacquer on the back but nothing at all serious. Lovely all wenge neck and fretboard. Maple body, P/J Pups. Controls are Vol, Pan, Bass, Treble. Pull the Vol knob to bypass the EQ. Priced at £550, delivered in a hard case to a UK address. The Pics:
17. Spent a nice hour or so at Alan's when buying a bass from him. Hassle free deal from start to finish. Great guy, great player - would happily deal with again.
18.
its a keeper!
Doh, you sure no trades.. Peace....
19.
Is this guy still looking?
I don't think so - he hooked up with us a couple of months ago. Good drummer, good guy - planning to get out on the road soon...
