Rooster isolated bass - What's the effect?
bagsieblue replied to SteveXFR's topic in General Discussion
Much of the bass on this album was doubled on acoustic bass with some chorus added. -

The Spector version is quoted as: Bass +/-20dB @ 150 Hz Mids +/-12dB @ 500Hz Treble +/-12dB 3.5kHz, +6dB boost @ 1kHz This is on 2 pots, for the bass and the treble. NOW TRADED - Dingwall D-Roc Standard Vintage Burst £950 - Can ship Mainland UK for £25 Good Overall Condition, one significant ding on the back - see photographs. Note the natural marking in the wood of a black spot on the body, under the G String area on the body between the pickups and the neck. Note another hole has been drilled to give an alternative position to hand the bass from – done by a previous owner and a very useful addition! The Blurb from Dingwall: The D-ROC Standard is an affordable, but brilliant bass guitar. It features a classic design and a high-quality mahogany body, partnered with smoked nickel Hipshot/Dingwall hardware. It’s a match made in bass heaven. This 4-string model comes in a classy, Matte Vintageburst finish. Hand Picked Hardware Dingwall have decided on an open-back tuner for the D-ROC. It helps to provide a smooth feel and is extremely lightweight. They are also known for being very reliable, offering years of high-level performance without any issues. A great tone pairs nicely with this solid performance, in part due to an available bridge/saddle system. This has then been improved upon through the implementation of a custom riser system – which grants increased range of action adjustability. Excellent Electronics The FD-3N pickups in the D-ROC (made to meet Dingwall expectations) ensure an aggressive, but buttery smooth tone. This is because of the decision to use quality Neodymium magnets. New Smoked Nickel knurled dome style knobs with a set-screw further adds to the excellent electronics found on this bass. Body and Neck A well-crafted mahogany body has been used, which helps to reduce the weight of the bass and provides a comfortable playing experience. The average weight of a D-ROC Standard is between 8.5lbs and 9.5lbs – making it a great choice for long playing sessions. The matte finish is durable, and will remain looking amazing for a long period of time. The bass sounds just as good as It looks! Stability and reliability are guaranteed due to a 5-piece maple neck construction. Many Dingwall players even say that this results in a neck that is as stable as many graphite necked instruments they’ve played previously. The choice of a flat headstock – with Hipshot licensed Ultralite tuners – achieves a truly excellent balance. Playability has also been enhanced thanks to the addition of smaller, 18% hard nickel silver fretwire. It offers you a much faster feel, as well as a woodier, less metallic tone. Orange OB1-300 Bass Amp + Footswitch + Rack Case. £425 Shipped Mainland UK. Great sounding amp in very good condition - comes in a Pulse Rack Case Good overall condition. One corner of the rack case has a crack but still functions and protects the amp fine. The Orange blurb is: These amps have become popular over the last couple of years mainly for their split-signal capabilities which allows you to divide your bass sound into one clean bass signal and one distorted fuzz signal, controlled by the effective Gain and Blend knobs which allow you to choose how much fuzziness you want, from 0 to full-on while always keeping the (clean) fundamental low-end bass sound. OB1-300 LEAVE THE OTHER AMP AT HOME… For years bassists have been combining guitar and bass amps to remarkable effect, adding harmonics and layers of overdrive from a guitar amp to their core bass tone in pursuit of the ultimate live sound. This ‘bi-amp’ trend got us thinking… Why drag two amps to the show when you could take just one? The result is the OB1 Series of class A/B rack mountable bass heads which take care of this and much more besides. The key to the OB1’s unique sound is our footswitchable Blend circuit which adds a veneer of controllable gain and increased harmonic content to the upper registers of the input signal. The lower frequencies and clean signal are left alone, staying warm and clear just as they would be in a ‘bi-amped’ setup. Depending on where the Gain and Blend controls are set, the possibilities are limitless. Punch in the Blend control to achieve anything from a transparent clean boost, to all-out filthy grind, and everywhere in between. KEY FEATURES ‘BI-AMP’ INSPIRED DESIGN The OB1 splits the input instrument signal into two separate paths. One side amplifies the clean signal, with all the clarity you would expect from Orange. The other adds stages of gain to the upper harmonics only, controllable via the amp’s Gain knob. These two elements are combined using the amplifier’s Blend control which adjusts the mix between clean and dirty. The Blend control can then be remotely engaged or defeated using the optional footswitch. The Gain and Blend’s range allows for almost anything, from a subtle level boost to cut through the mix, added girth and presence at moderate settings to fatten up chorus passages, to fully saturated savagery at the extremes. However you dial it, the OB1 always maintains the critical low end definition, right the way up to the most offensive settings! ACTIVE EQ The OB1’s highly responsive active three band EQ has been meticulously voiced for maximum effect with minimal fuss. The EQ section is located after the Gain and Blend dials take effect, allowing full control over their massive sonic range. The Bass and Middle controls feature +/-15dB of boost or cut, whilst there is a range of +/- 20dB on the Treble control. ALL ANALOGUE SIGNAL PATH The OB1 Series puts proper class A/B power back on the map. All circuitry is completely analogue, ensuring these amps sound expressive and musical even at ridiculous gain levels. RACK MOUNTABLE The OB1 Series are our first rack mountable amps, suitable for 19″ cases (2U). Enclosed in a rugged power coated steel chassis the fascia is finished in our classic ‘pics only’ styling. BALANCED & LINE OUTPUTS Balanced DI with ground lift and line level outputs for live and studio use. Specifications Features: Rack mountable (2U) 'bi-amp' inspired bass head with footswitchable gain and blend controls, active 3 band EQ, balanced DI and line level outputs Front Panel: (right to left) Instrument input with active/passive switch, gain, blend, bass, middle, treble, volume. footswitch input, mains switch Rear Panel: (right to left) Speaker outputs (speakon), 1/4" line output, balanced output with ground lift switch Speaker Output Options: Minimum 4 ohm: 1 x 8 ohm, 2 x 8 ohm, 1 x 4 ohm Output Power: 300 watts, class A/B Finish Options: white powder coated steel chassis (2U 19" rack mountable) Unboxed Dimensions: (W x H x D) 48.2 x 26.5 x 10CM (18.97 x 10.43 x 3.93") Unboxed Weight: 9.5KG (21LB)

Each case depends on the individual circumstances. No contract is formed in my online case example though. This is very common. No contract formed until shipped or notification of shipping. Fisher Vs Bell is actually the same principle, a shop website is an invitation to treat, the modern day shop window if you will. Online purchase, putting into your basket and making a payment is your offer to the seller. The sticking point is then where does acceptance of this offer take place. We firstly need both offer and acceptance to form the contract. Commonly the acceptance will be deemed to be once goods are shipped or notification of shipment is made, thus giving the seller ample time and opportunity to review the offer and accept or not.
-
The relevant law here is offer and acceptance. The get out clause that often applies in online cases is that the sellers T&C's states that acceptance of the offer only takes place when the goods are shipped or the buyer is notified they are shipped. I don't know if that is specifically in this sellers T&C's here but it is a fairly standard online retailer clause. I'd be surprised if it isn't, its a handy clause for suppliers to have as it gives them the opportunity to catch things like this. We all normally agree to all the sellers T&C's by ticking the box on payment that we agree to the T&C's, and of course hardly anyone reads through the T&C's. Agreed poor customer service, PR etc, but unlikely that it would be termed as a breach of contract.......

Padded Foam Cover for Big Baby T - Also fits Big Baby 2. £30 posted Mainland UK. Some wear and tear with the odd nick but will still go a job and plenty of life left in it. This is a decent foam padded cover and not a slip case or a felt/vinyl job. Comparing it to my One10 Cover – I believe it is as supplied by Barefaced before they added the branding. The style /method of the stitching and the foam look identical. Obviously this one is a little more tired and non branded. Photos show the pulls and scars – please do not expect as new condition. Some wet marks on the photos will dry out - I've just vacuumed and wiped the cover down. This is actually for a Big Baby T – Dimensions of: 64cm x 48cm x 34cm Bit I also actually used it more with a Big Baby 2 which has similar dimension of: 56cm x 45cm x 37cm A bit loose on a Big Baby 2 but still did the job of offering protection just fine. £75 for a new branded one for from Barefaced for a BB2 so looking for £40 posted mainland UK.

The tone knob is push/pull, selecting between two different capacitors, each one having one of 15 different capacitance values to choose from using the micro switches. Pickguard not included - I think i have added the correct drawing too to explain how the dip switches operate £80 posted Mainland UK Bass-VT-Switch-Settings.pdf

"No plans at present", though the Daily Mail says 1x pos and 1x neg is acceptable 😃😃.

Fixed it for you 😉

Absolutely this. We use this at work. I've used it once. I now flat out refuse to get involved in anything that requires claiming back. Horrible system.
