  1. I remember them doing their hit 'Bad Motor Scooter' Ronnie had some sort of gadget to change the sound of his guitar like a theremin or summat...
  2. I remember those gigs, Warner Bros brought a load of bands across and put them on across the country: I saw Little Feet with the Doobies and Montrose but was disappointed that TOP were not on the bill. Think I saw them at Manchester Free Trades Hall. As for Tiny Desk, shame we can't see the Bassist's fingers... but love the fact most of these guys are probably all 10 years older than me and still doing it.
  3. No, that's Aztec Camera, they were singing Tom Jones....
  4. Is that the new markaudio pa stacked 1X4 on top of 1X 4?

  7. Wonder if it has a (Detroit) Fast Spinners?
  8. Knowing Gibson it will be for a round peg...!😂
  9. A Sunburst Gibson EB2 from 1962, acquired for £50 in 1976. Sold for £100 at one of the pre-cursers to cash converters in Leeds in the 80's, who always had some interesting basses in their packed windows. Every lunchtime I'd walk around these shops and see what new stock they had. Come to think of it got my JD Supernatural Roadie from one of them for £350 a few years later.
  10. TC are owned by the same people as Behringher now, and we all know what they do for their wattage ratings with Bugera......2000 watts!
  11. Clever in the way the luthier has combined drum 'n' bass into the same instrument....
  12. Be good to have one if you are in a Rainbow Tribute Band...?
  13. i went to school with the Pendle Witches...
  14. 2 gigs over the weekend, the first at the Old Wharfe in Langport. A guy I met on JMB needed a bassist for a project he is running, it's an open mic with a difference in that the house band knows in advance what the singers will be singing so we get a couple of rehearsals in beforehand. So we got a chance to rehearse Summertime, Less is More (Joss Stone),Your Heart is as Black as the Night (Gardot/Hart), A Million Dreams (The Showman), To Love Somebody, Steal My Kisses, Out of the Woods, Son of a Preacher Man, Sexual Healing and Teardrops. This month there were the house singer who is very good, and 2 others, one who did his own stuff (6 songs) and another who works as a waitress at the venue who did 2, one with the band. It works very well, we do it monthly, the venue is full and we levy a £3 a head entry fee and get fed too! Second gig at a Wine Bar in Castle Cary with the Americana band( only 3rd gig this year), tiny venue, small but appreciative audience and nicely paid too. Just very hot in the corner of a cellar...

  17. A couple of weeks ago i saw an ad on JMB for a singer-songwriter looking for a band to start gigging. Intrigued, I had a quick listen to a couple of the songs which were OK, so replied saying I'd be happy to meet up and see if it had legs. Almost immediately ( veterans of JMB will know that many replies and ads remain unanswered) I got a response telling me they worked in PR and had many contacts and always got well-paid gigs. They also asked if I was free on August 11th to which I replied 'yes'. They then got back to me saying there were drums interested and could we all do a gig on August 11th( but unpaid)! I responded saying that seemed a big ask but if we had a rehearsal beforehand we could see if it was at all possible, so we set a date and time. I asked if they had a PA to which they replied 'no' and they thought we could work acoustically. I pointed out drums and bass were not really suited to that if all they had was voice and acoustic guitar, so agreed reluctantly to 'borrow' some PA ( as I did not want to get lumbered as the PA man). Lots of emails flowed back and forth and the day prior to the gig ( as we had exchanged phone number) I got a call from the drummer who I vaguely knew. I mentioned I had misgivings ( as had he) but we agreed to give it a go the following day. I'd looked at links to the material (there was an album launch a couple of years ago on YT) and each song seemed to be based around just 2 chords, and even the bassist in the backing band had looked embarrassed at the lack of changes and I had struggled to work out anything other than roots and some twiddling... On the appointed day I got an email asking if anyone was passing their house to give them a lift to the venue for the gig (where they had blagged a rehearsal) and I reluctantly agreed. Picked them up on time, quick chat on the way to the venue and arrived. They went straight to the steward and started sorting out how the PA I brought could be relayed around the stadium for the big gig and I was brought into the conversation. I said before we looked at that, let's see how we gelled as a group.... Anyway the songs were OK but not my cup of tea, very little opportunity to be musical in this format without overwhelming their voice and the drummer made some suggestions too. So we had a break and we were asked if we thought it was worth pursuing and I voiced my misgivings as did drummer and we thanked them for the opportunity. Slightly awkward drive back to drop singer off at their home but really I should have declined once i'd looked at the YT stuff.
  18. Thanks for this, I've managed to download it and set a bell to ring when it changes, so lets see if it works!
  19. Good point re the Tuners which I ignored, as you said you wanted to replace them! However, they don't look original or at least in the original place, as you can see less faded wood showing around the back-plates.
  20. I was going to say on the original post that 'Chris May help you' but did not want to prejudice your opinion of him for a cheap joke!
