TBH was just checking the status updates was working with some random letters, and before I knew it it had mushroomed into this intellectual exercise.....me and my fat fingers!

Hey!  We're all intellectuals now - official.

  2. Bought a set of SD P-J pickups from Nick. Expertly packed, swiftly dispatched and exactly as described. Great comms. too so buy from/sell to Nick with confidence. 🙂
  3. I've spoken to Armstrong Pickups who suggested they could do the same thing as you suggest: knowing my fat fingers I may be better off leaving it to someone less impatient and clumsy..!
  4. Yep, I was afraid of that and they are so fine.
  5. I was installing some new SD pickups today only to find the J of the PJ set was too large to fit the hole, so in order for it fit the case of the one it was replacing I had to reduce the length of the pickup by filing it down. Needless to say when I installed it it was not working, and upon closer inspection I've caught some the external windings with my fat fingers and have 2 broken copper windings showing from the outside. Anyone got expertise in this area please? Unfortunately the broken windings are not 2 of the same end but 2 separate ones if that makes sense....
  6. It would be very cynical for anyone to think this had been done solely for 'click bait purposes'......🙄
  7. 2 more from the collection: Blue one is a Maui Blue Squier Japan 1993, the Red PJ is a Squier Standard 2006, both have been fitted with pickup upgrades, the Blue with USA Fender Classics, the Red with SD's SPB1 and SJB1 (they are arriving tomorrow!)
  8. I expect it's an 'Apprentice Piece'....😊

Another one? I'll put it with the others.

  10. Did I ever tell you about the time I was next to Shakin Stevens in the Gents...?
  11. Having closed down the 'Header' that came up about it without thinking, I cannot now for the life of me find a link to it. If you would be so kind as to direct me please...?
  12. Michael Miles then Des O'Connor hosted a show called Take Your Pick years ago. This Bass has something for everyone ( except someone into aesthetics)... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-2008-USA-American-Hofner-Precision-Jazz-Bass-PJ-Custom-Gator-Double-Bag/223037341468?hash=item33ee0fbf1c:g:XS8AAOSwIeFbNUH6
  13. VPN-thought it was why thongs became so popular...?
  14. Just received a P Bass pickup set bought from Jake. Well packed and all good.
  15. There was long thread about these in the Amps Lounge.....
  16. We played in Wells earlier this year at a pub and our 2 acoustic guitars , bass, cahon and fiddle group was asked to do 'Mr Blue Sky'. Well I suppose we did have the fiddle, just needed the rest of the Orchestra....! We do 'Ace of Spades' as an encore however!
  17. Ah, a French Star Wars character?
  18. You could have said you were bankrupt and bought everything on tic(k)...
  19. We've just had to let a drummer go who's stock phrase was to me or the guitar, 'you were speeding up and I had to follow you'. My response was always 'but aren't you mean to keep the beat and we follow you?'. He had started using not 1 but 2 metronomes at gigs and rehearsals but still would start a song off at the wrong speed having incorrectly looked at it from his list. It got so bad that the singer was counting off the beats to start the songs and at a recent gig had to turn around ( as he was off on the wrong speed again) and ask him to follow the guitar. We had a meeting where we discussed the situation without him and all voted for his departure. even though he is a lovely chap. We actually wondered if he was quite deaf.....even though one could have a conversation with him. The tipping point came when we borrowed another drummer for a rehearsal (I was not there....) and the others could not believe how much better this drummer was and how he actually played the drums rather than just keeping an (incorrect) beat
  20. I see the seller is based in the Hope Valley, as is the Shuker workshop....
  21. Having watched the original video and heard all the name checks he gave Warwick, I'm just surprised he did not get the name of the guy he shows assembling it.
